Union City staple for Cuban Food. We grabbed a quick Cuban sandwich and Croquetta Preparada. The place was packed at 9:30pm. They also make great churros.

I had the Cuban sandwich. It came on a cutting board which I thought was a nice touch(I usually don’t care about presentation, ambiance, etc. I just care about the food). It was pretty good and that will definitely be my go to place for Cuban sandwiches. Prices are good also. It costs $ 4.50 for the Cuban. I probably will go back and try other dishes.

I should have taken a picture of all of the food, but I was so hungry that I got through most of it before I thought about it! :-) Had a Cuban sandwich, morir soñando, tostones con ajo. Just needed the Cuban experience. Took the leftovers, café con leche, y pudin with fruit. Like flan. Can’t think of the name in Spanish. And the morir soñando is like a liquid creamsicle. Just delicious.

This is the best Cuban restaurant in the Metro NY area. Although there are other Cuban restaurants with great food, The Artesano is a more completed restaurant. The flavor in their varieties of dishes never changes. For example, the arroz con pollo has the same delicious flavor all the time. I have been coming here for over twenty years now, and there is a reason for that. The authentic Cuban food, their outstanding service, their hours of operations. You can order a bistec de palomilla at 12 am and have plenty of time to enjoy your meal with no rush. This restaurant, in the heart of Union City is always super clean. Three large restrooms on the same floor. I could continue naming qualities forever. I highly recommend this family restaurant for an experience you’ll never regret.

Wow. Just wow. This was an outstanding experience. I could easily believe I was in Cuba in some parallel world. The food and was so good(pulled beef Cuban style) and the sangria was the best I’ve ever had.

Great Cuban sandwich. Homemade Tres Leches cake and a hot, strong Café con Leche. Great neighborhood vibe. The food was wonderful and the waitress was friendly and patient with my gringo lingo! Parking was a pain but this place was worth the walk.

Friendly & quick service. Inexpensive & tasty food. Spanish & english menus available. Cozy neighborhood spot. We both loved our Cuban sandwiches, and were very filled up. Papa rellenas were delicious and HUGE. A variety of coffees, juices, sodas and a full bar of drinks are available. Boyfriend didn’t love his tamale, but it also wasn’t bad and was incredibly inexpensive. Our lack of Spanish skills didn’t affect our ability to order or the incredibly friendly service from the staff. We also noticed they have GREAT breakfast specials available until 11AM. Credit cards accepted. Would definitely recommend if you’re in the area.

Enjoyed some authentic Cuban food from here last night! I ordered a medianoche with moro and sweet plantains and they really hit the spot. The moro is super soft and fluffy and had the right mix of beans, and the sandwich had the right amount of cheesy and crunchiness one would expect in a cuban sandwich. I also ordered a side of churros– 8x$ 1.00 is a great deal considering the size. I had to nuke them in the microwave for a few seconds with a little sugar, but after that they came out perfect. I’d like to come in and sit to get the authentic Cuban experience.

All I can say is this place is AMAZING! The consistency in their food and service keeps me coming back year after year. Their authentic food is simple yet delicious and the price is just right. I can’t stress how much I love this place. Please go here if you have the chance. You will not be disappointed.

I’m kind of glad I waited to review this restaurant. I must have been here dozen and dozens of times. At one point they were slacking off big time in the food. .it just wasn’t the same good quality. But I came here about a week ago and I was like wow ok this is what I’m talking about, yums! I ordered a media noche to go(similar to a cuban sandwich but on sweet cuban bread) and a materva soda. The sandwich was insanely good. Even though it was late at night, it was fresh. .bread was super soft with the perfect crunch from the press. They expanded the restaurant too, added a whole new side. Now that I know the food has gotten better, I’m definitely going back! Good for family dinners, table seating or stool seating by the counter. Street parking and metered parking lot behind the restaurant. Open until really late, that is a perk for me!

I will keep this one short and sweet, go to El Artesano and you will leave happy. This is authentic Cuban food, reasonably priced, and freshly made. This is comfort food in the extreme! You can go to E Artesano for a light snack like croqueta, papa rellena, or empanada. If you’re feeling ambitious go for vaca frita, masitas, or bistec empanizado. Have the white rice and maduros or tostones as side dishes. The café con leche is awesome. Oh, and honorable mention to the cheap and delicious hot breakfast as well as the frita Cubana. Enough said, enjoy!

I came here craving a «media noche» Cuban sandwich made with pork and ham, pickles, mustard and white cheese. Usually the bread is like a brioche and they grilled with butter until everything inside heats and the cheese melts completely. Well… It left me keep craving it because it was cold in the middle and the roll did not have the distinct buttery flavor. I quickly forgave them when when they brought me the succulent pig! It was an explosion of flavor, tender, perfectly seasoned, juicy and just melted in your mouth with all those amazing flavors that comes with a slow well cooked succulent pig! The arroz Moros(rice mixed with black beans) and the maduros(roasted plantains) were the perfect accompaniment for this along with the batido de Mamey(a smoothie made with a semi sweet fruit very common in Latin America) this is a real smoothie! Hello Felix, I walked quite bit around Union city and used Unilocal pictures and reviews to make a decision. So the answer is yes, I did use Unilocal to find you.

This place is small and very simple, but the food is very good. The croquettas are so good that even my abuela would approve. The churros are also very good and I always liked that there’s a quick service window to grab some and a cafecito in case you are having a churro emergency.(Yes, that’s a thing) also delicious are the batidos(shakes) — especially the mamey. If you are looking for fancy this is not the place. But if you are looking for good old fashioned Cuban food… you can’t go wrong here. They have been around for a long time in a place with pretty stiff competition and I hope they continue to be!

We could not have asked for better service and tasty food! We had a 30 person Cuban Cousins Reunion there and they set up their separate room beautifully for us, made great suggestions on appetizers, desserts and drinks to streamline the process of entertaining such a large group and were extremely pleasant and tolerant of 30 loud cubans reconnecting. I personally had the Boliche with rice and black beans and it was delicious. You must also try their sangria which we had plenty ofhttps://www.ticketriver.com/event/16966! Can’t say enough about this place and the waitstaff, and the owner Felix was personally involved too! Thank you!!!

Simple but jammed packed with Cuban flavors. If you’re looking for authentic Cuban flavors late at night than look no further then Artesano Restaurant in Union City. Cheap prices but first class service in both the waiters and food preparations. Enjoy a Cuban or a Medianoche. Wash it down with a batido de trigo. And finish with delicious Churros. Yums!!!

This is a very casual, lunch counter kind of restaurant. Very simple, but simply delicious. The cuban sandwiches here are awesome. I’ve had the tamales, croquetas, and ropa vieja with moro, and all were fantastic. Parking tip, use the municipal lot behind the restaurant.

Al no ser Cubano, encuentro muy limitado el menú. He comido ahí varias veces y no lo encuentro nada especial. Cuidado con el café, es muy fuerte.
