Great people. Kathy and her staff are always accommodating to my family’s busy schedule and always with a personal touch that can not be duplicated in big chain stores. I highly recommend Umatilla Optical.

Very disappointed. For the last twenty years, we always visited the OD at Umatilla Optical to check our eyes. First with Dr. Geddes and after he left, with Dr. Schmitt. Both very good. Well Dr. Schmitt retired and now they have Dr. «G». (Don’t want to use his name). Well, because we were already there, we decided to stay and have Dr. G examine us. After the exam, we asked the office staff for a copy of our Rx. First thing the staff girl said was, «why, are you going to take it to Walmart»? I let her believe that, but the fact was we were going to have a friend who works at Lens Crafters do the glasses at his big discount. We got our glasses done, and the Rx was terrible, for both of us. Went back to Dr. G who said our Rx was correct. (Main problem was the reading section was set too close — I.E. They were set to read six inches from our eyes, not the eighteen inch distance we normally use). Dr G and office staff would not correct the Rx. After making a small scene, I decided to go elsewhere for a second exam, for my wife, which we paid for, then using that second Rx, we had lenses redone. Did not have to pay to have the second set redone as that is their policy. First Rx was way too strong. OK, now it’s my turn, so while I was at the VA, I asked if I could get my eyes checked for new glasses. They set me up with Optical Outlet in East Orlando and when their OD checked my eyes, she said that my Umatilla Rx was much too strong. They made me new glasses, and I see and read perfect.
Either Dr. G does not know what he is doing, or the optical equipment at Umatilla Optical is defective.
Kathy (the owner, a very nice lady), my advice is to get a different OD.
We used to like Umatilla Optical, but if they are going to get angry that you want to take your Rx elsewhere, and if there is problems with Dr. G and/​or their equipment, no way will I recommend them.
