I suddenly find myself surrounded by kids… What used to be able and pool scene for adults is now a playground for kids. Fortunately the upstairs remains a haven for pool and beers. If you are lucky enough to be up there without obnoxious teens making out and bring disruptive.

Just happened to take a break while Christmas shopping with my two year old son and was very pleasantly surprised. Decent enough arcade. Beer on tap. Upstair billiards area. Rooms for private parties. And 5 bounce houses($ 5/hour). One of the best ways I’ve spent $ 5. Did I mention the 5 bounce houses?

It’s some hybrid between an arcade, a dive bar and a Chuck E. Cheese, but with inflatable jumpers for the kids, not arcade games. It’s the only way I can think of to describe it. When Boyfriend and I walked past this place earlier in the evening(right before they opened), we honestly thought it was an old-school arcade. We saw older, 90’s pinball machines and arcade games in the window(think fighting/racing games) and decided we’d stop by later to check the place out. When we had an extra half an hour to kill before dinner, we decided that then would be the best time to check the place out. The atmosphere when you first walk in is «local dive bar.» So you can imagine our surprise when, within 10 seconds of the initial impression, a bunch of children ran by us. And then our vision focused on the 3 – 4 jumpers tucked into a corner. And then we noticed the actual bar, with picnic benches as seating for the adults with beer and cocktails in hand. And then the arcade games. And then the pool table and air hockey and foosball. Needless to say, we were a little confused but ultimately kind of charmed and delighted. There are a set of stairs that lead to a 21+ loft area with a few more pool tables, a couple of dart boards, a closed off event room and a shuffleboard table. Boyfriend and I managed to find the only $ 0.50 pool table in the loft(hint: it’s the one closest to the stairs), so we played a round while we kept peeking over the railing of the loft into the arcade-esque area downstairs and marveled at the place. It’s a kid-friendly bar! With pub food! And even a little toddler play area for the wee little ones! And since the place closes down at 10PM(except Sundays, which is 7PM and they’re not open at all Mondays & Tuesdays), you can even get the tots back home and in bed at a decent-ish hour! A score for the whole family.
