The Stand

Good hot dogs. Hubby got a brat with sauerkraut and grilled onions, I got the chili cheese dog, and we got a side of mac n cheese for the little guy. All was very good and fresh… wouldn’t necessarily call any of it gourmet. Will definitely go back.

I recently moved out of Tyler and I miss this place. It’s hands down one of my favorite stops.

Great little place to eat. I’m not a big hot dog fan but when I’m craving one I’ll definitely go here. Get the mac and cheese dog … or go all out and add bacon to it. Staff is always very nice and the place is always clean. I’ll go back anytime I crave a hot dog.

OK but nothing special. Small to average size servings. Earns a 2.5 star.

I wasn’t impressed at all especially for the price. I’m still trying to see what the hype is about. I guess you can say its average for a hot stand. The chili was ok compared to can chili with extra ingredients but over all its just average.

We finally got around to trying this place and the fiancé is hookedddd. Everything we have had is pretty good, although the potato salad was kind of meh. Mac and cheese was good but I didn’t think it was as amazing as the other reviewers atated, definitely liked the standard chili cheese dog the best.

So good! You won’t find better hot dog or sausage combos anywhere with their excellent selection of dogs, sausages and toppings. A must try for hot dog lovers.

Great little place. My kids love the hot dogs and Mac and cheese. I am gluten free and love that I can get a frito pie :). I think the pricing is fair. I can’t wait to try their breakfast burritos/​bowls. I do wish they were open a little later.

Awesome place for lunch. Stopped in here and got a regular dog with Mac n Cheese and cheeseburger dog. Both of them were outstanding.

This place is just stupid good-​dig nirvana if you will. Red Hot Links slaw dog style… it was AH-​MAZING. Love love the crunch the bun has. GO THERE AND EAT SOME DOGS!!!

My son begged me for over a year to take him to The Stand. I was like… hot dogs??? No thanks. Then I finally took him and now I’m hooked. I asked what was the most popular, and it is so good. Bratwurst with grilled onions and side of mac and cheese. Very friendly staff. Cute place. We now go often.

When I walk in to a place and ask the counter person for a recommendation I don’t want to hear «it’s all good». I want to be steered toward a specialty item or a popular menu item. Food was delivered hot but I wandered if the Brat had been microwaved. It was super hot and a little tough. Plain hot dog was okay but I like relish and did not realize it was on a condiment shelf on the back wall (I was facing the front). I will go again and try some of the specialties and hope for a better experience.

Great dogs! Many choices! Not your run of the mill hot dog-​clean place and fast service. worth going south of Tyler a short distance –need to open additional location !

Great local business. Can’t beat the Hot Link Sandwich. All of the dogs are great as well. You have to try the Mac & Cheese

My kids love The Stand and the pricing is fair. The hotdogs are done very well… toasted bun, melted cheddar… and the mac and cheese is pretty good. I wish they had better hours, and sometimes the service is impersonal. The hours have been cut back significantly.

I went to Tyler with a friend to do some shopping with my sister who lives there. She took us to The Stand for lunch and we really enjoyed it. I had the Polish sausage with kraut. The others in my group had grilled onions on their regular hot dogs and Polish sausage. All of us enjoyed our meal. The grilled taste on the sausage was noticeable and the bun was toasted, too. The service was fast and attentive. Someone came by our table several times to ask if we needed anything and to offer drink refills. Seating is a bit limited, and it is far from upscale or fancy, but the food, service, and cleanliness were excellent.

The Stand is one of my favorite places for lunch! If you ever get to go, be sure to say hi to Stephan, and ask him about his glory days as a Vandal tennis player! And get some jalapeños on your bratwurst dog… yum!

I waited 25 min. To get my hotdog. I made the mistake of ordering it with grilled onions. Which I guess they had to slice an onion and grill it up. No prepped onions I wonder? There was so many onions I had to take more than half of them off. Ate the hotdog in one minute. A complete waste of time.

Passed by The Stand and didn’t really know what to expect. Very unassuming exterior, clean and nice interiors, and simple menu… just a bunch of different sausages/​hot dogs and toppings. However, the way they are prepared is excellent and the combinations are almost endless. If you love sausages or hot dogs, look no further. This is definitely the place for you. I had the bratwurst with grilled onions (and free bacon since it was Wednesday), and my taste buds were very pleased. Highly recommended!

This place is exactly what they say they are, «cleanliness, Southern hospitality, and the character of a historic East Texas facility,» plus more.
My husband (believes he) tried the Jalapeño & Cheese which he said, «was gooood» and the Black Pepper which he said, «was reeeally good!»
My favorite is the classic/​usual good ol’ hot dog you can garnish to your own liking. But, this isn’t your regular hot dog, they are hot and mouth watering right off the grill!
Last time I had some chips as my side which are always good, but now that I see they have «Mac & Cheese,» I am going to get that as my side next time!
Wish they had a place like this in DFW since Summer is just around the corner and you know you have to have a hot dog on the 4^th of July! I will be coming back to this place time and time again! (Maybe another road trip to East Texas for the 4^th!) Hope you all enjoy this place as much as I do!
