A group of us(4) dined for the first time. The food was to die for. Lobster Mac and cheese and short rib potstickers were delicious appetizers. Heirloom tomato, Caesar and arugula salads were equally good. All the steaks were delicious and we would order everything again. We all agree that this would be a 5 Star if the wait staff kicked it up a notch. No apology for spilled ice water, very slow on the initial drink order, sloppy presentation on one tomato salad and the wine service is not on par with other restaurants of this caliber. The pour for each person was uneven and the entire bottle was served in one pour. This may seem picky, but having other opportunities to engage with the table while pouring is usually a positive experience. That being said, we would definitely return and would also like to try other delicious looking menu items.

We disappointed visit Jack Ryan steak and chop house in Tyler. Celebrating my husband birthday, We mostly drive to Dallas to nice restaurant. We try to give business to local merchant. We have to wait 40 minutes just for our cocktails, only 2 other table. The Waiter can’t remembered special menu keep reading his note. I have Sea Bass which very good, my Husband order 8 oz tenderloin rare. When food arrived cut the steak It was weldone. We send the steak back, when 2nd steak arrived the chef cut steak in half and not even rare. In nicest steak restaurant they would wait till we cut the steak see if we satisfied with our order, rather cut the meat in half on the plate. Look like frozen Meat then difrosted so can’t see any blood and funny taste and funny texture. I wish manager come checking on us after 2nd steak arrive. No one care, left the restaurant no one say thanks for coming no one in the room. We met the owner when we came first time, he’s very nice person, I’m sure he disappointed to hear this. Here again special day was ruined, we brought meat for our dog.

This is definitely a date night type of joint! Brought my wife here, and I must be honest. After being a chef for the past 22 years, to be able to enjoy the caliber of food that is served and the way it is prepared, big city, 5 star quality, in a small town, is awesome! I highly recommend. Everything was delicious from the cheese plate, to the pork chop, the sea bass, the pork belly, and even the prohibition era drinks, all were amazing! We will definitely be back!

Amazing food. Nice environment. My husband and I went a few days after Valentines for a nice romantic dinner and it didn’t disappoint. Service was very attentive and the waiter suggested several«off menu» items that we tried and loved. I got the flat iron steak which came with asparagus and a twice baked potato. Delicious, tender, and cooked perfectly with a yummy red wine glaze. I also ordered a side of Lobster Mac N Cheese which is to die for! So rich a creamy with lots of big chunks of lobster. Hubby ordered the sea bass on cheddar risotto(off menu item) and said it was some of the best sea bass he’s ever had. To finish we got a lemon tart(also off menu) with a blackberry compote. Definitely the best way to finish the meal!

We were sat just before 8:00pm and finally reveived our steaks an 1 hour 15 minutes later. The Prime Rib was tough as shoe leather! Wait staff was horrid and literally non existent. The restaurant was no where near capacity and I can understand why. After receiving our bill for 140 $ at now 9:40pm(1 kobee flat steak 1 Prime Rib entrée 2 appetizers and 2 salads 2 drinks) I informed the waitress with our wait for food and quality of. In no short order the manager came over and comped the entire meal. I never want nor expect anything for free but he insisted. We are very happy with his decision to do so however. We frequent the Jack Ryan’s in Kilgore and it is definitely TOPNOTCH, however this location has much to be desired. Hopefully this was just one of those rare occasions.

Wow! This is great! Expect to pay about 50 bucks for a piece of Salmon and a dessert. Wonderful food though and great ambience. I will be back. I’d recommend calling ahead(2 – 3 hours) to reserve a seat so you don’t end up waiting for a table or sitting at the bar.

Been living in Tyler now for a little over a year and we were thrilled to see Jack Ryan’s — the location is fantastic and the dining room is beautifully appointed… but without great food and service, it can’t succeed. We were thrilled to find that both the food and service are top-notch! We were greeted and seated immediately and our server Bret immediately took drink orders and went over the menu with us, answering all of our questions with obvious pride and knowledge. We started with the bruschetta and braised short rib potstickers — YUM! We had never had beef in a potsticker before and we will be coming back for more! The tomato and mozzarella stack came next and was perfectly balanced and seasoned — other places smother it with oil and vinegar, but this stack was just right. The kobe flatiron was fork tender and so so good — perfect portion size and sides. My wife’s pork and beans was a fantastic up-scale take on this comfort food favorite. We finished with the banana trifle and chocolate fondue — perfect finishes to a fantastic meal. The service was without reproach — Bret seemingly appeared out of nowhere, always anticipating our needs without hovering over us — we will be requesting him again when we return to Jack Ryan’s — and we WILL be returning!

The service and wait was a two star effort in that we waited an extra hour after we had reservations, and then waited another hour and a half for our food, so it took 3.5 hours to get a meal but the food was very good once it did come out of the kitchen. Other people who were seated after us got their food faster than our table too. Too bad they couldn’t get their act together on service or it would have been a five star rating.

Best dinner I’ve ever had in Tyler. Prohibition era cocktail list, cheese courses, and a lengthy wine list by the glass or bottle. We ordered the potstickers, lobster Mac and cheese and a bottle of wine, plus the beef tenderloin, and the Kobe flatiron. We are already thinking of a reason to go back. Phenomenal feel– you forget you are in Tyler for a few hours. There is a bar upstairs with lounge tables and you can see straight into the kitchen because of its open concept. If you haven’t gone, you’re missing out. Our waiter was fantastic, and you can tell that the chef runs a tight ship. Amazing food.

We went for dinner. We had the lobster mac & cheese for an appetizer(nice big chunks of lobster and the cheese was thick and stringy — to die for!!), i had the house salad(not worth the $ 7 — -should’ve gotten the interesting looking caesar) & the beef tenderloin(SOOOGOOD) and my husband had the salmon(he ate it all). We had fondue for dessert. All the food was yummy!!! However…they don’t have any soups on the menu, which my husband prefers instead of a salad. And there are only 2 steaks on the menu — beef tenderloin(filet) and kobe flat iron. I would’ve expected more steaks(t-bone, ribeye, new york strip, etc.) to be on the menu because they advertise as a steak/chop house. Anyway, the food was good, the atmosphere was nice and we’ll go back.

Great for lunch. We did have to wait but they were super apologetic, I don’t mind waiting and we weren’t really on a tight schedule.

Everything was great! The reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is its a little pricey for my likings. Wonderful food though.

We wanted a quite place to catch up on an already long week. We attended the Annual Downtown TYLER Holiday Open House. The food was fabulous and the service was perfect. I’m so glad that this restaurant has made the Petroleum Building come alive again.

Great laid back upscale atmosphere. Service was friendly and accommodating. The food… We had bruschetta for appetizer bc it was light, crazy delicious and beautiful presentation. Even the bread they give to snack on was delicious. Main entrée I had the flat Kobe steak and I could die happy if I never eat anything else in my life. The asparagus was delicious and perfect texture, and mashed potatoes were heaven. Husband had the sirloin I believe… Not sure he only let me have one bite before he inhaled it… It was perfection a, they have. Unique style of preparing their steaks and I assure you it is worth trying. He had asparagus and loved it as well, and a twice baked potato we fought over. I loved the Art Deco feel of the atmosphere and cannot wait to go back. Wine was delicious, great selection. Wanted to try cocktails and dessert but was far too stuffer, definitely will next time! Only thing I wish were different was maybe add a partition to separate the hostess stand and perhaps some dupioni silk fabric to cover Windows looking into the kitchen and give it a real feel of a cozy prohibition ambience. It is such a charming place perfect for dates or fun night out with friends. And honestly the food is so amazing if eat it in a McDonald’s setting! Great job!

I LOVE the building and ambiance of the prohibition era décor and Sinatraesque music. The BBQ fried oysters were delicious, didn’t need to sneeze lemon on them. We had the Filet on top of smoked mashed potatoes and asparagus, we also had chicken and waffles. The filet was cooked perfectly. For dessert we had the caramelized banana pudding trifle and the bread pudding. The bread pudding was better. The reduction of a star was because what I thought was a large clump of brown sugar on my waffle was actually a piece of fried oyster batter(not a good pairing)

Great service and the lunch menu is just what downtown needs. A beautiful classy setting with amazing food at a great price. Average lunch dishes are from $ 10 – 20, can’t beat that. Great place to take clients. Dinner menu is superb but more expensive, as one would expect. Bar area is a bit small but the prohibition drink menu is impressive.

Fantastic. From entry to dessert was everything I expected. I enjoyed the horseradish crusted salmon. Presentation was unfamiliar, it appeared as is if a slab of horseradish had been set on a perfectly prepared salmon. To my surprise the«slab» was soft and not too overbearing. The asparagus and potatoes under were also to perfection. My table mates had 2 beef dishes, tenderloin and skirt steak, both sous vie. I would have chosen one if I had known how delicate the meat was. Very well done by the chef. The missing star is for the inconsistencies in the service staff. I’m aware that we are here on the first full service night and actual await to see how this place matures
