Very cute mom and pop ice cream shop. The inside is retro, there are even a few old school arcade games. The owner’s son made our banana split and was super friendly, and even shared the history of the shop with us.

After dining in at Sundae Café(ironically, not a dessert joint), we walked across the street to The Sugar Shack to get ice cream while walking back to the condo. The Sugar Shack also have breakfast food but we opted for the ice cream. We just got our standard ice cream to see how it taste like — butter pecan, cookies & cream, and mint chocolate. The ice creams were good. The waffle cones were home made. The price were really outrageous for only one scoop. $ 7 Overall 3.5 out of 5 I do not think it’s worth the $$ paid for it. I spend less at Brusters and honestly Brusters taste good.

Always dependable food. Inexpensive and you get just the right amount. There’s seating inside and out. It’s our fall back place for breakfast

Food was good. Quick service. Another old building though. At least appeared to be clean

I DIDNOTTRYTHEICECREAM. The staff was pleasant at the sugar shack but the food was practically inedible. The kitchen was gross and dirty and I probably would have left if I wasn’t so hungry. Nasty burger. Greasy, cold crinkle fries. Did not try the ice cream though, which is the only thing I would consider trying there. Made me mad I wasted my money at this place.

Great place. But don’t go there for lunch in the morning. For some reason they don’t serve lunch until noon o clock. It’s bizarre. Otherwise, 4 stars!

We stopped here on a whim and it turned out to be ok. The prices were very reasonable and the gentleman taking care of everone was friendly, generous with the serving sizes and quick. I had the pistachio ice cream in a waffle cone, my husband had the choc. chip malt. I was very satisfied with my selection. However, my husband did not care for his. So we recommend the ice cream, overheard people recommending the food but say pass on the malt drinks.

The Sugar Shack comes through when you need something sweet. My favorite is a waffle cone with a scoop of ice cream(the pralines and cream was my favorite!), but the sundaes and banana splits look awesome, too. The staff is super friendly and helpful. And there’s lots of seating, including a massive covered outdoor space.

The people at The Sugar Shack were really nice and the service was great. I feel like the prices were way too high for less than great food. We had breakfast and weren’t all that crazy about it.

We had breakfast here, and it was great! The eggs were super fluffy, the pancakes were fluffy and buttery, the hash browns nice and crisp. We were impressed and left very full! Cheap for all the food you get too!

This place is adorable. The 80ish year old owner bustles around cooking and bringing people their meals while her cute grandsons help. It is super fast, kind of standard breakfast but perfect in its own way. Everyone was nice and the charm of this place is really what would make me return.

Every time I come to Tybee I always stop here on my way home. Love all their ice creams, shakes and floats. Staff is super friendly and they have both outside and inside seating.

We had breakfast here. The food was okay and really inexpensive but the dining room was dirty. It was way too early in the morning to be that dirty. The doors were smudged with handprints and the window sills were littered with dead bugs and cobwebs. The kitchen and area behind the counter appeared to be clean enough. But the dining room and self serve coffee area were clearly not cleaned before they opened and it was really unappealing.

I’ve only eaten here for breakfast twice, but at $ 9 for an omelette, it is definitely underwhelming. Also, there was hair on my plate today. People are nice but I definitely ate breakfast elsewhere after leaving my plate mostly untouched.

The Sugar Shack is a classic American beach shack diner with old timely charm. The breakfast menu is simple, yes, but that’s because the founder, 83 year old Mary Grosse, cooks it all herself every morning. The ice cream kicks ass and is worth the extra dollar. The patty melt is incredible if you’re looking for a sandwich. The ½ pound of popcorn shrimp will play a favorite with your kids. This place is not dirty, it’s just old. And with that comes a certain kind of charm. There’s no place on tybee with the authenticity that the Sugar Shack has. And in a built up beach town, that should be something that should be appreciated more.

Fact that they sell out you can’t be mad if you go late and expect them to have a certain flavor you are looking for. The ice cream is simply amazing every time I visit Tybee island it is a must have. Must try is the praline ice cream very famous flavor place looks run down but it has plenty of character Rocky road never fails and always ask what the flavor of the week is this week it is the blue berry cheese ice cream which I regret not getting this visit. But definitely give them 5 stars so check them out.

This review is only about the ice cream. I seem to be exploring Savannah and its surround areas by way of ice cream and I am not complaining. I stopped by here on the way to the beach to grab a cone. The shop is pretty run down. Could use a fresh coat of paint and a good mopping of the floors. The ladies restroom was pretty awful. Everything just looked like it was stuck back a few decades. Asides from that, the girl at the counter was pleasant and helped me decide on a flavor. We settled on Coconut Almond Joy. I received a very generous single scoop on a waffle cone. It was absolutely delicious. I loved the pieces of coconut throughout and the chocolate syrup. It was creamy and awesome. I left happy. Would go back for the ice cream alone.
