100% this is the way to travel here on the island. Good exercise, you can take the bike routes and take the scenic route. We biked the residential back roads and loved it! The bikes do have some wear and tear: I’m assuming because they are rented often. Needs new handel bar grippers but that is truly my ONLY complaint.

One of only two decent bike shops that popped up on Unilocal when on a recent day trip to Tybee. Bikes weren’t the greatest. The handlebar grips were grimy and needed to be cleaned and/or replaced. I had to hold the foam the whole time. Also, the guy didn’t honor the buy one bike get one half off deal we showed him on their website. He wanted a physical copy. Okay… what’s it matter if I show you on my phone or have it printed off? The guy wasn’t in the greatest mood and was giving us attitude. Overall, not the greatest experience or bike. We will try Tim’s bike rentals next time we go back on the north end of the island!

Best beach tour ever. Super friendly and helpful staff. There are two locations to choose from, one offers parking in a cute and quant local shopping center. Lots of extras included in the rental including helmet, lock and basket. Thanks for the southern hospitality, we will definitely be back.

It was great fun to rent a bike. Staff really nice guy. Very friendly. He played football with Joe Namath and loves talking about it and happy to take pictures with you. He will eagerly give you detailed thoughtful tips about what to do around the island. Make sure you stop by and chat with him. There is a bike trail around the island where you can see the more quiet spots. It’s beautiful!!! Make sure you take it. Fun times! So glad we rented the bikes. They were kinda old and squeaky but did the job…

Before arriving to Tybee Island we were really excited about the idea of renting bikes and riding all over the island. We weren’t disappointed. The bike rental was about $ 12/pp. Staff were really friendly and informative, giving us advice on where to ride– trails, lighthouse, get lunch at Sundae Café and then watch the St Patrick’s Day parade. That’s exactly what we did. The sand on the beach was so compact that we were able to ride on the beach as well, stopping to watch the sunset. The bikes were in great condition and the basket that came with them was very useful. I wouldn’t hesitate to rent from them again. Tip– they will drop off and pick up from your beach rental. We didn’t know that ahead of time but will definitively use that service in the future.

THE place to rent bikes for your stay on Tybee! Central location + super-friendly, helpful employees who matched us up with solid beach cruisers. We asked for a kid trailer to haul our stuff to the beach, and it couldn’t have been easier… just unhook & walk your stuff over the boardwalk to find your spot. Thanks to everyone at Fat Tire for making our time on Tybee fantastic!

I will never, ever rent from this place again. The old beach bum guy at the counter was rude and refused to give me a refund. Also, the bikes were not taken care of and were very uncomfortable to ride.

After doing a little exploring of the south end of Tybee for the first time, my wife and I stop in to Sting Ray’s for a drink and to get our bearings as we were waiting for the lady from the B&B to call us back to let us know we could get into our room. Right next door is Fat Tire Bikes, so I asked the bar tender when they opened in the morning because we wanted to get some bikes for our weekend stay. Before the bar tender could reply, this huge dude sitting next to me says«You want bikes? I’ll go over and get you some right now if you want.» Turns out it was the guy who works there. He walked me over, opened up the place and rented me two bikes. One sweet pink one and one UGA one. With locks and baskets that were both put to good use. Couldn’t have been nicer to do that after hours. Definitely worth the beer or two we bought got him. The bikes were perfectly fine, and biking around is the only way to get around Tybee. It got a little dicey one night going to the far north end in the pitch black, but we managed and the bikes got us through.

Can’t beat riding bikes on the beach for a memorable vacation activity. The bikes we rented here allowed us to spend the last day of our honeymoon leisurely enjoying the area, particularly the big beautiful ocean before us. We got exercise without making ourselves miserable through overexertion. Neither of us had ridden bikes in years and years, so the nostalgia made it all the more fun. Beyond just«bikes are awesome», the staff was helpful and not pushy, and the shop was very convenient — no trouble renting the bikes or returning them whatsoever. This was $ 20 very well spent.

We rented 3 bikes and 1 baby bike trailer/buggy for $ 60 for the day. We were provided with 2 key locks to secure our bikes with as well. The bikes were basic but very functional and we didn’t have any problems with any of the equipment. The baby buggy wasn’t super clean when we got it, but that meant that we didn’t feel too concerned about returning it somewhat used looking. :) Renting was super easy and the staff was very laid-back. They told us we had full use of the bikes until 10am the following morning when they opened again … and just to lock our bikes up out front and drop the keys in the dropbox when we were finished. No fuss — no hassle! I’m a fan! As far as the biking experience … biking on the beach was an absolute BLAST and it definitely was the highlight of our vacation! When the tide went down it was very easy to peddle around on the hard sand and Tybee provides a great point of access for bikes at the far south end of the public beach parking lot so that was no problem as well. We also enjoyed wheeling our way around the neighborhood streets. Good times, great memories! :)
