On a Friday night, 8:20 pm we sat for 10 min without anyone letting us know they were closed! Doors open, patrons eating, we sat among many tables without any serve? I got up to ask if we could order, the waitress, «Oh no, we closed the kitchen.»

Service is once again MIA, old bad habits are hard to break. Stopped in for supper after a day of fly fishing with my cousin. I ordered the Buffalo Burger, and my cousin the Halibut and Chips. The first drinks came quickly, local cider and the guest brew Alpine Märzen. Beer 2⁄3 finished and the server returned to let me know, «we’re out of buffalo.» The Pub Burger was okay, but my cousin’s beer battered Halibut and Chips was over cooked and dry. I had to get my own second beer from the bartender. Their ESB was good, malty with a proper amount of hop bitters and flavor to qualify as an ‘English Style Ale,’ which I prefer to over-hopped lingering bitterness. Server’s abound, but service is disenchanting– What are they doing?

I waited an hour for my food. During this time I saw a mouse run across the restaurant floor. When my food came it was cold and flavorless. The restaurant is super cool looking and is in an awesome spot though!

Came in despite the reviews about the long wait times for service, town was empty from the rescent fire. We were the only customers here! Our waitress was friendly & awesome. We sat across from the kitchen doors which I wish we hadn’t. The cook was on & off his germy cell phone & we could see him constantly licking his fingers yucky. The beer was awesome food was delicious & friendly service.

Not the most delish meal in the world. Waited, forever for food. Saw 3 meals go back to the kitchen as we waited. People ordering from the bar rather than wait for the inattentive wait staff.

I guess the management does not read Unilocal reviews. The service has not improved since previous reviews. We waited over 30 minutes for our drinks, and only got them after complaining. We waited over an hour for food. The food was ok, but not worth the wait. Having to complain in order to receive attention does not make for a pleasant dining experience.

Got lots of time? Good, you’ll need it. We left after waiting for 30 minutes for a server to take notice of us on the outside patio. This was 20 minutes after we’d alerted a busser that we needed menus and waters(which we got for ourselves). Servers never looked our way, and spent lots of time talking to locals at tables. I’d ordinarily say that this was a result of bad management, but these servers never were looking around to see what the situation was in their section(s). There were two servers out on the patio, and there were maybe eight total patrons on the patio when we arrived. We left, then went to the Old Schoolhouse Pub in Winthrop where we were promptly seated and served. Their food and beer selection was better anyway. Save time and money, go to Winthrop instead if you want a good brewpub experience.

Beer selection is limited here but mostly very good. Food prices are very reasonable for this area(seems like other places charge more simply because there aren’t a lot of options in this area). Free wifi which is great. Their patio area is really nice but in 90 degree weather, the air conditioned bar/restaurant area is preferable. C

It was recommended we try the Pub. We had a wonderful experience. The servers were friendly, the food was delicious and the price was fair. I will never understand why servers ask«what are we having tonight» but that is a pet peeve. We sat out on the deck over the river. It was a very warm evening and a satisfying meal. We will be back.

We had high hopes but they were soon dashed. Lovely waitress named Kalea. But three of four entrees were below mediocre. Would not go back.

Waited nearly half an hour and told two different staff we were ready to order. No one even took a drink order and waiter went to a table that sat down ten to fifteen minutes after us. We left without ordering. The service was appalling.

I am writing thIs review before our food arrives. We are sitting on a beautiful patio over looking the river. It’s lovely. Unfortunately we have been sitting here for nearly an hour. The ice is melted in my pop and we are hungry. Very hungry. The service here sucks. I am guessing this is a kitchen problem not a server issue. I am not impressed. When our food finally arrived it was great. Unfortunately I cannot change my overall opinion. 1 hour and 40 minutes total elapsed time.

How do I do NO stars? This place sucks. Been here more than an hour and still no food. Place half full. Is there a reason? It’s a holiday weekend for a captive audience so what’s the deal? Waitress says they aren’t staffed for this. Jesus. Go somewhere else if you want to eat in a reasonable time frame. My damn food better be hot. Five of us won’t be back. Update #2: almost two hours later. We were ready done and dash. «Being backed up doesn’t cut it. A basket of chips. Well…

No service. I mean NO service… I came here on a recommendation from a friend. I just sat at the bar for over 5 minutes during lunchtime and was never greeted. There was a couple at the bar with empty glasses, and another couple in the restaurant not being helped either. I could see and hear the gal talking to the chef(about wanting to go hiking and other social stuff), but she never came out of the kitchen. I didn’t feel it was my responsibility to go back there to get her attention so I left. Unprofessional. No recommendation on food, as I never got that far… I had time to sit, decide what I wanted, realize I was not going to be served, search Unilocal for somewhere else to eat, and even sign up for Unilocal to write my first review.

I’ve eaten here probably 15 times in the last 5 years. The food is always pretty decent, especially considering there is practically no competition. The darker beers are better than the lighter, and overall the beer is not as good as Old School House in Winthrop, just a few miles away. The hours are quite limited, so I’m never quite sure if they’ll be open or serving if it is past 8 pm. The service, however, only gets worse every year. Sure, the Methow Valley is a relaxed kind of place, and the pace is slow. But I really do not like to watch my drinks languish on the bar for 10 minutes, while I consider getting up and serving myself. Usually there is one server there who is on it enough to notice how bad the service is, and they try to pick up the slack for their ill trained and uninformed co-workers. But they always fall short. To summarize, go there, eat and drink, but be prepared for a long thirsty wait for anything. And to the owner and employees — you really could give a shit and act like it. Then maybe your restaurant would sell instead of sitting on the market for years, and customers might come in more often, too. I know I would.

Big place, solid pub food, parking lot, bad art on the walls for sale. There’s a big stage and dance floor, but we were just there for lunch.

They didn’t bring our orders at the same time. They brought food for only 2 of us. Others in our group had to wait for a loooong time for our food, so we didn’t eat together at the same time. We asked for separate checks, but got a single check. This place’s service is poor.

It comes down to The Puppy. Really. If it wasn’t for the outdoor seating I’m not really sure if I would eat at the Twisp River Pub. It’s not that the food is horrible but it is rarely what I would call great. The Wife and I have brought The Puppy to Twisp River Pub many times including twice just this week. We enjoy the sound of river and the servers are friendly and respectful of The Puppy. But, once again, there were plates of food that just weren’t right. Our first visit this time around The Wife orders the Shrimp Tostadas served with Slaw. Slaw? What she got was a julienne of onions, pepper and carrots cooked in a reddish sauce which then drowned the overcooked shrimp and tortillas. Fine, if that is what you are serving the menu should correctly reflect this. I had a Grilled Chicken Cob Salad. The chicken was a bit dry and only seasoned with pepper but what really put me off were the bacon«bits» which just translated into a gritty feeling in my mouth. The next visit was more successful for me with the Brewmaster Burger served with mushrooms and Russian dressing. The Wife had a small salad with smoked salmon added. It came with a good amount of locally smoked salmon and a creamy, mild goat cheese. I’m not sure though why the serve the 2 very thin slices of bland baguette with those salads. Either get a better bread or just don’t bother. The pub has so much good about it and the little details just drag it down. Great house made ginger ale is a good thing. Gritty bacon bits is a bad thing. In the past we have had the Halibut and Chips and the batter was gooey inside… bad thing. Allowing The Puppy out in the back seating, the only reason we stop in… for now.

3.5 stars: four for the food, three for the beer! We ended up at the Twisp River Pub after stopping by Old Schoolhouse in Winthrop and finding them closed at lunchtime. Knowing that Methow Valley Brewing brews here, and wanting to have a beer sampler with lunch, Twisp River Pub was a perfect stop instead. The menu is varied and extensive for any brewpub, but especially one in a smaller town. From soups to salads to lots of burgers(local lamb or beef) and excellent topping choices from goat cheese to green chilies to sauteed mushrooms, not to mention seasonal entrees and housemade desserts, I think this is one of the better affordable places to eat in the Methow Valley. I don’t order burgers too often, but this was worth it; juicy, incredibly flavorful and topped with some of my favorite goat cheese in the state(from Sunny Pines Farm). The vegetarian burger is housemade out of lots of good stuff, the sweet potato waffle fries are tasty, and lunch was really fantastic. And, talk about a generous beer sampler… We had five tastes, each of which must have been around five or six ounces. Not that I’m complaining! The two winners were obvious: the bock and the porter. The bock was beautifully sweet and full-bodied, the porter smooth and sensuously viscous. You could get lost in its depths for hours… The other three beers were fine but all lighter styles of their particular types. The IPA was a mild brew; it’d be a good starter IPA for someone who isn’t sure about hops(nicely balanced despite its gentleness), but for someone who loves more and more when it comes to hops, it was too light. The coffee stout had a nice flavor, but needed a fuller body to go with the coffee bite. For anyone who isn’t drinking beer, there’s a list of house-brewed sodas like root beer and ginger ale; we didn’t try any but I’m betting on a return brunch visit a few will be sampled! There’s a variety of seating, so individuals and groups will all find a comfy spot to relax(and kids were around too so it’s family-friendly). Our service was great and our waitress was more than happy to fetch us a bomber of the porter to take home, which I’m already dreaming about…
