When I was stationed in the beautiful 29 palms and was required to get a hair cut every weekend I frequented many barber shops however none of them are as good as this one especially when it comes to price and waiting in line(which can take up an entire afternoon) If you go on a Saturday the wait lines are never that bad.

Went on a Thursday, shortly after they opened. I literally was the only person in there. There was only one barber on hand that I could see. The place was clean and new looking which was nice. The actual haircut was the problem. The barber cut my hair like we were in the Indie 500. I was literally the only person in the room. I like the whole barber experience, slow down. relax. use some finesse. I like when I almost fall asleep during haircuts. Well, because of the apparent race we were in the fading sucks. I also wasn’t offered the free shampoo. I have multiple lines in both sides of my head. I will try this place one more time. I wont judge the overall skill of the barbers from one person. But you’ve been warned.

This was the first barber shop I tried when I came to the area and I have not needed to go anywhere else. As the name implies all the barbers are girls most could even be considered«babes». My girl Valerie hooks it up every week with a nice and clean fade. PROS: You cannot beat 10 $ for a cut and a wash. The shop is nice inside and they are usually playing loud music that is usually good(minus the pop). Sometimes they have free pizza and soda. CONS: The wait can be long at times. Some of the barbers are better than others.(I recommend Valerie) It would be cool if you could make appointments to avoid a wait.

I have now been there twice and had Christina and Mandy for my fades. I remember not waiting too long at all the first time and Christina did a good job on a low/medium fade. The second time I when Mandy cut my hair the end result was good! I really like how clean the place is, they offer free shampoo after your cut, and it isn’t too far away from the base. Wait can be lengthy but it usually isn’t that bad. What I think they need to improve on is the fine balance between a solid fade and the amount of time it takes. Don’t get me wrong… I would rather it be done right than not. Just not 20 minutes longer than needed. They might want to have a couple more girls on staff on the day before a new work week with it being a Marine hot spot but it’s Memorial Day so I won’t judge too hard. As long as I am here at 29 Palms I will be getting my haircut done here. Clean, fade done right, and the girls are nice and always have a smile on their face. Keep it up!

I was looking to get my bi-weekly haircut as required by the United States Government, and drove by my old stand by, Stud Cuts. Since it was already about noon(got a late start today) they were even busier than usual. I am one of those people who refuses to spend an hour of my Sunday sitting in a barber shop so I went across the street to the somewhat recently opened Babes & Blades. The lack of a crowd was a pleasant surprise, especially since it’s Sunday in Twentynine Palms. They have some comfortable chairs and the place is very clean. They have a sign-in sheet, which is much better than the system across the street where it’s anyone’s guess whose turn it is(before they bring out the tickets). Shortly after I sat down, a lovely redhead came to me with a clipboard asking me for my name, as I was not aware of the system yet. A couple minutes later I got called up. The barber was friendly, and from a casual observance, they all were. I got a good, quick haircut at a reasonable price of $ 10 with shampoo included. The girl with the clipboard was doing the washing so I had to have that done before going on my way. The only shortfall, and it is a minor one, is amenities. The chairs are comfortable but once the business starts growing, more seating will become necessary. A better reading selection and more TVs would not go amiss either. The TV is actually directly above the waiting area, so placement could be better. Not a big deal to me, as I’m just here for a haircut. I don’t normally judge a place in this next category, but the name of this business implies that attractive women are employed here. I was not disappointed. The ladies ranged from cute to strikingly beautiful. I honestly did not realize 29 had this many pretty girls. I almost forgot to mention that they give you a punch card that gets your fourth haircut for $ 2. Very nice. I will definitely return, and if you’re looking for a good barber, give them a shot.
