Great little spot for lunch! Service was very efficient with no wait time. Staff was very courteous and helpful! I got the Pot Roast with Collard greens, and rice with gravy, which was very good. Seemed like a popular place with the locals. I would definitely eat here again when in town!

This is a meat and three restaurant near the Univ Alabama campus. My son is a student and swimmer at UA and lives down the street, so I’ve passed this place several times. Couldn’t figure out what kind of restaurant it was, so I didn’t stop. After eating here, I still can’t really figure it out. The dining area is decorated more upscale than most meat/3 places, but there was a layer of dried grease on everything at the table. Ugh. You order at the counter and get your own drink. Then a waitress brings your plate. She never stopped at my table again, even though I was the only person she was serving. No offer of drink refill. Do I tip her? Guess not. And I’m a guy who over tips generally. I ordered a southern classic — fried chicken livers. The batter was very dark and fell off the livers. They have fryer issues. But the flavor was good for being over-cooked. Sides were collard greens, baby lima beans and peas. All tasted pretty good. Takes some of the fun out when you can see giant cans of veggies in a rack when you get your drink. Guess some are fresh and some canned. Desert does not come with the meal. One small piece of cornbread did. Price for the meal was right about $ 10, which is high end for this meal in Alabama. I can think of better meals nearby for ten bucks. At 215pm, the place was pretty empty. Don’t remember ever seeing these guys packed. Not sure these guys will make it here without big changes.

After my bad experience I returned and the cashier recognized me and gave me a free breakfast.

It wasn’t horrible but it isn’t worthy of another visit. I got a breakfast omelet with hash browns, side of cheese grits, and a biscuit. The grits were inedible, they contained entirely too much cheese. The omelet was decent and the hash browns were pretty good. The portions were a little smaller than I imagined and the wait was a little long. Save yourself some time and eat at Waffle House or IHOP for a good breakfast.

We go here a couple times a month. Good catfish. Veggies always have too much salt, though. Bummer.

Waited forever!!! After 30 min. we had to change our order and make it to-go, after an hour we almost left without it. People who came in well after us ate and left before we got food. Then we get it and they forgot one of the sides. The food wasn’t worth the wait and the manager was a jerk on top of everything else. And, we weren’t the only ones complaining. There are other, better, meat-and-three places in town. 3 star food with ½ star service. We won’t be going back.

Great comfort food! T-Town has a very diverse menu. I had the country fried steak with black eyed peas, turnip greens, and squash casserole and each item was outstanding. The service was outstanding. My friend had the blackened salmon and he love it. It is one of the best meals I have had in t-town!

First of all, the food is good. It’s not great, but it’s good. I’ve had various experiences with both fast and incredible slow service. There never seems to be a pattern to it in the few times I’ve gone. The main flaw of the restaurant is the hours it’s open. It claims to be open for breakfast but it doesn’t open until 10:30 and it only stays open until 3!** It isn’t even open on Saturdays for game day. I just don’t understand the business plan I guess. **Update: my original review did not have the current updated hours of operation for the restaurant. However, at the time of the review, I had called to ask an employee about the hours and those were the hours I was told. Perhaps it was a holiday, or maybe that employee just had a really long day(happens to the best of us).

One of my favorite places to eat in town. They’ve got a meat and three vegetables menu that rotates through the week; the food has been fresh and delicious every time I’ve been.(I especially recommend the catfish.) The staff is always very friendly, too.

Apparently«meat and three» is a common concept in the South, but it’s pretty foreign to this Arizona boy! This idea really needs to head west! We arrived for an early lunch as they were unlocking the door for the day. Today’s lunch items were chicken fried steak or Buffalo chicken bites. Our party got both. The chicken fried steak was a generous portion that was a REALCFS. It was so refreshing not to see the frozen roofing tiles that so many places try to serve. Yum! Buffalo chicken bites were also obviously prepared onsite. Big hunks of chicken breast, lightly breaded and just enough heat to make you know it was there, but not enough to bring tears. Delicious. Dessert was peanut butter cream pie. After lunch, it was a struggle to finish, but I’m proud to say I prevailed! Also excellent! When we ordered, my son asked for the hash brown casserole, and were told that it would be a few minutes. Knowing this, he ordered it anyway. Our server apologized several times, even though we assured her it was not an issue. Still, it was appreciated. All in all, excellent!

They stopped serving breakfast. Sadness. I did eat there for lunch a couple times. It was good. The food is the freshest around. I will be back.

What a great place to eat some good ol’ meat and veggies. I had tried them back when they first opened and wasn’t that impressed but a few years later and this one is in the lunch rotation(especially on Friday’s fish day). I have tried the pot roast, porkchop, fried fish, fried steak, a couple of the sandwiches and the bread pudding. Pot roast is a good choice, it is moist, slow cooked, cut it with a fork mmm mmm good piece of rump roast(no chuck). The Chicken Fried steak is a crunchy crispy, not over breaded and well seasoned cube steak with some thick peppery white gravy poured on top. Not feeling like a red meat carnivore then the fried catfish is an upscaled, well seasoned, crispy filet with the belly removed for that good ol’ southern fried fish. Now I will warn you on this, I have had the porkchop grilled and fried and the fried is really good, but the few times I have had it grilled I think it came from the smallest pig they could find, torture and toughen up before sending it to the table. I don’t have much to say about the veggies(it would take to long) but they are fresh and seasoned(salt and pepper) just right. I personally always get the squash casserole and fried green tomatoes.

My sister was so excited to bring us to T Town when we came to town. I was not enthused by the menus selection, and ended up ordering a grilled chicken sandwhich(my go to when nothing else looks appetizing) it was good, nothing spectacular. The fries were mushy and gross. The staff was working their butts off though, and everyone was real friendly. My grandma loved her pimento cheese sandwhich and sister loves the catfish!

I can’t get past the bad service. On average, about 20% of the time, our order has been«lost». And you have to pay first, so you can’t just leave without your food. Never once did the manager acknowledge the screw-ups. The food is great, but the service is lacking.

Don’t believe the website — they do NOT serve breakfast all day on Saturday. Walked all the way over there and was told«Yes, I know it’s on the website, but we don’t serve breakfast after 10:30 and it’s not my fault.» Yes, but it *is* your fault that I won’t be coming back to your eating establishment.

So worth the extra dollar or two as compared to their similar down the street and across the river old downtown café spots.

What a lovely café that serves as an ideal balance between a group of friends on a college night or for the family during the day. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. The interior resembles your typical Southern restaurant in Alabama but their selling point is the patio. There’s plenty of seating available so don’t worry about finding a spot for you and your group. They have many drink specials around all the time so be sure to catch them when they come around. I ordered the pimento cheese and soup combo. The pimento cheese was delicious and lukewarm(not sure if it’s supposed to be that way) but I enjoyed it. It helped that the bread reminded me of how my mom used to make a sandwich with even more butter. The chili was good. The price of $ 7.50 was reasonable for this combination. There are other options including burgers and sandwiches for the boys, and salads and mouth-watering cakes for the girls. It took every ounce of willpower to hold off on the dessert menu but now I kind of want to go back to pick one up…

We went to the restaurant that was in this space before and we were sad to see it go. When we came over for the Alabama gymnastics meet last Friday, we saw that the new T-Town Café had opened, and gave it a shot. Glad we did! Everything about this experience was wonderful! Food was great, especially the hush puppies and biscuits and the fried catfish. Service was outstanding, and value was very good. We will definitely be back!

We have been here three times since it open and the food has been great every time! Best option for meat and three in this area!
