This is currently my go-to Chinese restaurant in town that is actually American-Chinese. Mandarin chicken is a great dish if you like chicken with a sweet sauce and broccoli. Delish!

I ordered the basil chicken and actually really liked it. It was kind of expensive for the portion size. I guess Asian people feed Asian people pretty well in California because typically a $ 9 dish would be served family style – in portions big enough to feed a family.
The chicken basil was good. It had a lot of flavor to it so if you like basil, this is it. The watermelon boba is not really milk tea. It’s a watermelon slushy with pearls but I thought that would be a weird texture so I had the watermelon slush instead. It was really good and they blended it up using real watermelon. It’s expensive for a small drink ($ 4).
If I wanted to splurge on Chinese food, this would be the place due to smaller sizes and slightly more expensive pricing.

Lai Lais is a place that manages to mix American Chinese and chinese food very well. My personal favorites are the Andong Chicken and Ma La Guo. You should see them on the specials board or the Chinese menu (separate from standard menu).
As far as I know they’re the only place in town that sells Takoyaki and Ma la guo. Be sure to check out their specials. The variety is usually pretty good.
We’ve always had quick and friendly service. When my wife was in graduate school nearby we visited several times a week so we’ve had a great deal of experience with Lai Lai.

Phenomenal food. As authentic as it can get. The hot pot is downright amazing. Order off the Chinese menu. Delivery availability sucks. Awkward location. I would eat from there more often if they were better at delivery availability and not in such an awkward shopping plaza.
