Walnut Woods Apartments

I was happy with the initial move in, but not long after moving in that changed. My wife and I lived here just over a year and have had significant problems. Maintenance was very slow and took over 3 weeks to come look at a broken window screen. We had significant soft spots in our carpet (a second floor unit) to a point where it sagged and the floor bounced. Didn’t feel safe at all. Maintenence said they came by, and we left items on the floor to mark the spots, but they were never moved, so no one came by and in the end there was no follow up about the issues. Our oven also ran so hot we burned a lot of our food and one of the burners did not work, even when we left. Our screen door too was broken when we first got the apartment, and nothing was ever fixed.
Parking was usually never available. You are given one covered space and there are open uncovered shared spaces. Well some tenants bring 3 – 4 cars including our neighbors which were college students and had five cars! They continually parked in our covered spot and filled all the uncovered spots. On numerous occasions I had to park outside the complex which is ridiculous. I spoke with management and they said they couldn’t do a thing which is wrong. I’ve lived in other apartments who have enforced such issues.
On-​site management was rude, arrogant and never available. She was never in the office or picked up the phone. She told my wife that I was lying when going through a discussion regarding our lease. She was quite distasteful. We then finally got screwed over our deposit. We only got back half and got charged things that are not mentioned in the lease. Read your lease before you sign! They charge you for carpet cleaning and a pet enzyme treatment even when the lease mentions nothing about such a charge. We spoke with management about it, brought our leases which proved our point, and management basically said…“oh well.“
These apartments are not worth it! They keep raising the prices which are too high for Turlock already. Highly recommend you lease elsewhere.
