Dietrich Theater

Great little small town theater. So nice to not have to drive 25 miles to see a movie. Concession prices are so reasonable. We love it.

What an asset to the town of Tunkhannock, one that deserves to be supported! Not only is it a historic theater, and deserves to be supported as a nostalgic aspect of small-​town America as such, but it also is renovated to stay modern. Inside, the are are four theaters, all with comfortable chairs, clean floors, and good sound. Outside, new lobby, bathrooms, and concessions beckon. Movies are first-​run selections.
Also of note is their involvement in the community, with children’s programs and showings of historical movies. It seems the theater acts as an extension of the library, providing community enrichment.
On our first visit, the owner or manager even took our kids up to the projection room and showed them how movies are loaded and played. Was a fun behind the scenes tour!
I hope the theater and town can continue to reciprocate, each giving the other what it needs to benefit the entire community!
