I’ve never had a bad meal here. My girlfriend and I get takeout from here at least once a week. Sometimes twice. The Carnitas is to die for homemade corn tortillas and homemade tamales. We always get the tamales dressed with their homemade sauces tomato and lettuce. They have very reasonable prices on Mexican beers. You can actually buy A 6 pack of Negra Modelo cheaper than you can at Albertsons or Fred Meyers.

Overpriced for dry food. Got tacos and tamales today and it was super dry I ended up getting a different lunch elsewhere. Not to mention their pan dulce is very overpriced I will not be returning

«Authentic» doesn’t mean perfect unfortunately. Stopped in because of all the positive reviews and friend recommendations. I should’ve been worried the moment I walked in. The restaurant is tied-in with the store, and while sitting down to eat in the back you constantly have random people looking at you weird. That plus the fact the restroom is in the middle of the dining room is a bit unnerving. The sewage smell in the back dining room as previously stated by other reviewers is still there, makes it tough to eat. Chips and salsa were nothing special, chips I had tasted burnt and the salsa had little to no flavor or heat. I ordered a chicken street taco and an asada burrito. Chicken taco came out cold and fell apart in my hands due to the corn tortillas not holding up and the chicken looked slightly pink(hope I don’t get sick). I’ve had better at local taco trucks. Same goes for the asada burrito, just because you add a small slice of avocado to the burrito you think it’s special, It’s not. Very bland taste, and small for the price, I had to save it with Tapatio. I’m gonna stick to the taco trucks for my cravings. Service was just as disappointing. I was sat down got my order in, that was fine. But not friendly at all, due to having to stock the store shelves and taking your order. And then seemed irritated when I asked for the Tapatio, since there were no hot sauce options at the table. Price I paid for both came out to $ 14 with tip, not the worst food or experience, but I won’t be back.

This place is my go-to spot when I’m in Tumwater. I come up for business regularly and look forward to trying something new each time I go. So far I haven’t been disappointed and I’ve had the carnitas, enchiladas and their awesome house made chips. I lived for 15 years in San Jose and this is the closest I’ve found in the NW to the kind of authentic taqueria fare I fell in love with there.

After a long day, my friend and I were craving Mexican and she took me here. I have to say everything was fantastic. Although I only ordered a couple different kinds of tacos($ 1.99 each!) they were to die for. My friend had gotten tamales, and again they were absolutely delicious. I’m excited to have found such a great, authentic place and will be making sure I check out the grocery store next time as well. Living in the area for a few years now I’m constantly craving authenticity from all these local places and I’ve found my favorite.

Carne asada plate is divine!!! Delicious seasoning, tender, juicy and just mouth watering anticipation and pleasure with each bite. Their beans are wonderful, with just a bit of a kick. The rice I am not too fond of, but some friends liked it. We had their combo fajitas and decided the chicken was our favorite. My friend bought some pork tamales to serve at a get together the next night, along with some of the green salsa, and everyone raved about them. I have purchased the sauces, guacamole, chips, tortillas, and a few sweet breads. They have all been good. Only once was I a bit disappointed, and that is when I ordered a salad with asada. I was expecting large tender strips of the asada, and instead I got little chiclet sized bites that were hard cooked. They had an ok flavor, but I tasted the grill more than the meat. When I was expecting something that I enjoy immensely, and get little bits of charcoaled meat, I’m sure you can understand my disappointment.(I know now to ASK what type of asada is in the dish.). Believe me, the steak is amazing. I am looking forward to trying some of their other dishes too. The soups smell wonderful and most of the other food looks great. When watching people at the tables, they all seem to be enjoying. Oh, this is a family run business and everyone is really nice. The do get very busy around lunchtime, so done in service might be slow if you don’t warn them you are on limited time. It is a very casual place and the dining area is rather small. As you’ve probably read, it is a combo market and restaurant. Probably started as a market, but the restaurant side is taking over as the word continues to get around.
This place is amazing… the only place in Washington that has real carnitas. Amazing staff and delicious food definitely a new staple to my Sunday shopping trip.

I highly recommend the sweet corn tamales which will melt in your mouth. The pork tamale and jalapeño and cheese tamale were quite tasty as well, but nothing tops the sweet corn. They were listed as $ 2.25 and I got three with a side of rice and beans with a horchata to drink, and somehow my bill came out to over $ 15, so I’m not sure how that happened. But I was happy to support the business and the portion sizes were so generous that I didn’t feel like it was a raw deal. That massive platter of food kept me STUFFED for two meals and if I hadn’t been so greedy I could have easily saved the rest for a third. I will definitely be returning for more tamales!

I am never disappointed when I come here either for dinner, lunch or breakfast. Their food portions are similar to what restaurants in the area offer but at a more reasonable price. They offer lunch specials and it’s convenient enough for the state workers get in and out at lunchtime. I just learned today they make their own Mexican sweet bread(pan dulce) which competes with some of the best bread I had growing up in Mexico. Their offerings are probably the most authentic you’ll find in the Olympia-Lacey-Tumwater area. Please don’t get me started on the fancier restaurants that will put cheddar all over your food. The grocery store is very well stocked with spices. They have everything you need for your special mole recipe. They make their own tortillas which is huge if you are into supporting local small businesses. They keep the restaurant areas and bathroom really clean. I know the owner and she’s a super nice lady who supports her community and the staff are always friendly and helpful.

Pretty good Mexican food. I used to get the«wet» burrito, a little on the expensive side. Sure miss California taco shops 5÷21÷16 Decided to try again. Food was still pretty good. We sat back close to the kitchen and found that was a mistake. We smelled a foul odor, like sewage most of the time we were there. Made it hard to enjoy! The walls were very dirty and wondered what kind of trouble we were in for later … I was up till 4 a.m. with stomach pain and in the bathroom many times… tums and gas x didn’t touch the discomfort… I have been to every food truck in town and been known to have an iron gut, but dinner was not worth this… think before you pay for this stomach churning mess and good luck.

Best chile relleno I’ve ever had. I love the carnitas tacos. The breakfast is also awesome. Their guacamole is fantastic. The little grocery attached is really great.

Quality food in an unassuming location. Full service sit down dining sharing a space with a small market. No frills in the setting or décor, but good food and service, which began with some excellent homemade chips. I don’t have a lot of experience with wet burritos, but they seem to usually be topped with red sauce: here, they use their wonderful green tomatillo sauce. It’s stuffed with the meat of your choice and the usual burrito fixings, happily also including avocado. The carnitas plate was not the best version we have had, but it was still good, and served with nice thick tortillas. Service was quick and pleasant, and they get points simply for asking if we would like to-go cups for our beverages, giving us refills for the road. If we are on the road through the area again, we now know a quality pit stop!

I love their tamales. I get mine from the store side. A bag of chicken tamales, a tub of the verde sauce, and a bag of their tortilla chips and I have enough for three or four meals. Great place to have lunch too. They their wet burrito.

Tacos were delicious! I added extra cilantro for fun. So so good! Being from So Cal and having lots of authentic Mexican food options it’s tough finding that here. This is the good stuff. Come as you are. No ambiance, very nice peeps. You won’t be sorry.

The best Carne asada in Western WA. I love their tamales also, they aren’t gritty and have the perfect balance of corn and pork. The stand out though is their Carne asada taco. So much delicious marinated beef, with the right amount of salsa and cilantro. My mouth is watering just thinking of it. I also tried their barbacoa taco, which was pretty tasty, but the Carne asada meat had a beautiful char that gave it a nice crispy texture and the meat itself was so tender and juicy. The tortilla chips are homemade and so is the salsa. They actually have 2 different kinds of salsa, a red and a green one. Their limeade is amazing! Totally refreshing on a hot day. Parking is easy as it’s in a big strip mall.

So I’m here from San Antonio TX and thought what the neck, did a Unilocal search and found a place that was actually open at 9. In TX if you want breakfast tacos, 5:30 — 6:00 provides plenty of options. Ok, so no breakfast taco, only burrito’s. So ordered, bacon + egg, potato + egg, chorizo + egg. In TX we only get refried beans in our breakfast taco’s if requested, all of these came with refried beans, hence the Burrito. So flavor is pretty good, would give them another try only I’d be more specific in my order. Salsa’s have pretty good flavor also. The Sweet Breads that looked great in the case turned out to be rock hard, not the norm in SA. Maybe if wrapped in a damp paper towel and put in the micro for a few sec will work. Have to try that later. Because they were the small burrito vs taco the total price was a bit high, $ 32. All in all not bad for the great northwest, but if you want really good and cheap breakfast taco’s you’ll just have to come south. Store has lots of options if you know how to cook your own or order in. I had mine to go.
