Great tasting coffee in the growing Pearl District! For me this is a popular place for small and medium sized meetings for the various charity organizations I am involved with. They have many different spaces including a back room for larger groups! The staff is great to work with as well!

A visit to The Phoenix is «gonna change you like a remix» and then«raise you like a phoenix.» Okay, while I don’t think Fall Out Boy was inspired to write their song by The Phoenix in Tulsa’s Pearl District, it is an inspiriting place to visit. The Phoenix serves up sandwiches, pastries, teas, cocktails and beer, and fresh baked breads. All of their sandwiches are inspired by stories from books and movies. For example, The Joy Luck Club has turkey, ham, bacon, swiss, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and mayo served on toast sourdough. Then there’s The Godfather with pepperoni, salami, ham, and provolone served on a poppy seed bagel. There’s also a sandwich I am not allowed to talk about because that is the first rule of that sandwich. The second rule of that sandwich is don’t talk about the sandwich, so, whoops… The whole design of the place is simply cool. Books are a central part of their design-with the front counter and pillar embellished with bookcovers. Even their logo has a phoenix rising out from a book(don’t feel bad if you didn’t notice the book the first time because I didn’t). The Phoenix also has a «hidden» reading room, which, while not TOO hard to find, is used for events or for those who just want a relaxing place to hang out and read. «So dance alone to the beat of your heart» and visit The Phoenix.

Love the coffee/food at the phoenix. Bagels are fresh and delicious! However, they always use only one person for barista/cashier and multiple times I have had to wait 20 minutes to order when there are only a few people in front of me. I would come here a lot more if there wasn’t this issue which is a shame!

Every time we find ourselves in Tulsa we make a pilgrimage to The Pheonix. Books, Booze, Bagels & Brews, plus an incredibly friendly staff. Essential part of downtown Tulsa culture. Don’t mention the monkey to anyone!

I’m rating this place two stars for a few reasons. First off, the atmosphere is pretty cool and hipster. The lighting is nice for studying, dim and chill. There is a decent selection of pastries, and drinks. Good quality espresso too. They used a Guatemala roast for their cold brew, which was rich, nutty, and pretty good, but could of been better. The only con about this place would be the apathy and negative attitude of some of the employees. I’ve been here twice and they never seem to have a smile on their face. I’m not expecting you to be a peppy beam of sunshine, but at least look like you like your job. I was having trouble deciding my order, and although the barista offered me some quick recommendations, she seemed in a rush with no line behind us. Her attitude was pretty rude and condescending, even when she told me where to find things on the menu. Overall, my experience wasn’t that great. Most likely not coming back.

Revising my review after another visit. This time, the gentleman at the counter greeted me right away and made sure I was waited on expeditiously. One if the few places I’ve found that occasionally has the ingredients to make a White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Mocah. One of my favorites from my visits to Seattle. Most of the time they’re out of the Macadamia Nut syrup though. Trendy place with usual hipsters and wannabes. A nice place with plenty of seating and the ambience is laid back and casual.

Had a solid and very reasonably priced breakfast at the Phoenix around 9:45 on a Thursday. There were a few people seated, but it was pretty quiet. As many others have noted, it is a unique space. It’s awash in hipster paraphernalia: old books, mismatched chairs and tables, random coffee mugs obtained at a garage or from someone’s aunt. Local art on the wall(and for sale). Old vinyl in the corner. It’s got a nice laid back vibe, I could see reading a book or just hanging out for a bit. But, while it’s a nice place to chill, we were hungry. We all went with bagel sandwiches. I had the bacon/egg/cheese on a jalapeño and cheddar bagel. Our food came out after about 5 – 7 minutes. I’m not a coffee drinker, but my 2 friends that were with me are. They said it was good, but not great. They did like it enough to get to go cups. The sandwich was a good size for under $ 5(see picture). You can definitely taste the jalapeño, this is likely the best jalapeño involved bagel I’ve ever had in that regard. Actually had some heat. The edges of the cheese got nice and crispy as well, always a plus. The bacon was good but sparse, as was the egg. The egg was overdone, and it was way dry. The cheese was standard cheddar cheese. For the money, this was a solid sandwich, but it had some room to improve. Bagel was the far and away winner of the whole thing. One of my friends had her order messed up, so we ended up with a rosemary bagel with ham and cheddar cheese to share. I had some of this, and the rosemary flavor came through strong. In a very good way, I really liked this bagel. One of the Phoenix’s strong suits seems to be actually using the ingredients used in the name of the bagel to make the bagel. So many other places I’ve been proclaim to have a «garlic» bagel that tastes nothing like garlic. If The Phoenix titles something with a specific flavor, you are going to get a lot of that flavor. This is a good thing. The employees we dealt with were great, both were very friendly. And, when the order mistake was brought to their attention, it was rectified very quickly. A quick drive from downtown, this will be my breakfast spot the next time in wake up in Tulsa.

I have been meaning to go to the Phoenix since it opened, but just now got around to it. It is definitely a great place to work with a group. I am in grad school and came with a group who I am working on a project with. The large tables were great and exactly what we needed. I didn’t order any food, but what everyone else got looked very good! The service was a little slow unfortunately, but overall the vibe of the place is cool. I like that they serve alcohol and coffee. That is a nice combo :)

I want to call this place«swanky» but I’m not sure people still use that word. The place has such a unique feel and as a lover of literature, I have to say they win on that, for sure. The menu also carries on the literary puns and frivolity, with sandwiches conjuring up thoughts of classic writers and rustic novels. The food itself was pretty standard for a sandwich shop. Nothing really jumped out as amazingly unique, but I left full and satisfied. I’d recommend checking this place out if you were looking for something kind of like a Panera, but want to go somewhere with class. There’s even a quieter reading room for the people looking to chill and you can even purchase books. I’ve only been here a handful of times, but I hope this is a spot that will be around for a long time, so I can keep going back. I have a fuzzy dream of bringing a classic novel on a rainy day here and camping out and eating sandwiches… so maybe one day it will happen.

Coffee Stop Number 4 on my trip! I wanted to grab a quick lunch today before heading across the street to the park, and found this place thanks to Unilocal. It’s a pretty spacious coffee shop/library/bookstore/bar. That’s right alcohol too. When I stopped in, it was pretty busy, but there were still a few empty tables available. Lots of people on laptops, studying etc. The food items on the menu are all named after novels(I ordered the Hobbit). The food was good, nothing spectacular. As far as drinks, I ordered«The Pearl», which is sweetened condensed milk and espresso over ice. HOLYCOW! How did I never know about that combination?! As far as service goes.(I’m shaking my head because I’m so tired about talking about this). the gentleman that helped me was about what I’ve come to expect from baristas. Seemed slightly annoyed and busy. Happy I stopped in!

I love the atmosphere of the Phoenix. Their coffee is fine, and I’ve always had friendly service. It used to be one of my favorite places to get lunch and read, but in recent months their bagels(and therefore their sandwiches) have gotten so small. Their Hobbit sandwich was a great veggie option, but now there’s very little hummus or avocado and all you can taste is onion. Extra disappointing because their prices have stayed the same.

I love the atmosphere, I love the coffee, and I love that the Phoenix is open until midnight. I’m a student, so I frequent often in the evening to order a bottomless coffee and get some work done. What I don’t love is their nighttime patrons. Two nights in a row I encountered two homeless customers. One kept harassing me for conversation(asking what I was working on, where I studied, and describing to me how chivalrous he was in wake of his bipolar disorder) and the next night his friend chose a table across from mine and stared at me in silence as he drank his coffee. Both instances happened late in the evening, and both made me extremely uncomfortable. If you’re visiting at night, be careful, and consider bringing a friend. — 1 star because I still love the Phoenix and they probably can’t control who walks in.

I ordered a chai latte with a shot of espresso. Barista didn’t add espresso and then when I came back to point it out she poured a dead ass shot into the drink. I tipped her before she did that and I really wish I could take the money I actually worked for back. Thousand sighs. It’s not that hard to pour a new shot. It takes like twenty seconds and I was standing right there. There are better places to buy coffee yall. *UPDATE: I told her that she mishandled the situation and she said she’d remake it NEXTTIME. Why would there be a next time?

This is also a hipster haven, but wins bonus points for also being a BOOKSTORE! The coffee is good and they also serve adult beverages. I love the seating and the secret library. I did however have an experience similar to one previous reviewer who interrupted a meeting that was going on in there. Am I interrupting something important? Am I allowed in here? Is this the Bat-cave? Maybe Blake was just grumpy from a long day of fighting political corruption? :) Hey, Blake’s awesome! Keep up the good work, sir!

The Phoenix is a fantastic addiction to tulsa! Since moving here I was constantly disappointed with coffee houses, and well everything. this place has a big city feel, In a neighborhood setting. Great coffee, cheap drinks, and the hommous is made in store, and it’s amazing It’s hard to find somewhere in tulsa that isn’t full of blonde 40yo housewives or dirty redneck meth heads, this is the perfect place to chill with a great eclectic crowd. If you’re from out of town, this is the kind of place you’ll be used to going all the time, so it’s great we have one in tulsa!

If you listen to taylor swift and love over paying for books, records, and food and coffee. This is probably the place for you. The staff is filled with young trendster kids which complements the establishments service, meaning their is a noticeable lackadaisical effort put forth by the trendy staff. Long story short, service is slow(been waiting for 48 minutes for food that is hastily made.) If you’re over 21 and dislike trendy crap, avoid this place.

The Phoenix is a pretty neat! I have been here for lunch and for a late night drink… its great for both. They have the traditional coffee shop pastries, as well as a menu full of sandwiches and salads. They have a lot of different coffee drinks, a small bar selection, and beer on tap. The best part of this place is the location and ambiance. This is in part of Tulsa that is really taking off. The 6th street area is getting new restaurants and bars. However, it is horrible for parking. Once you find a spot, the inside of the Phoenix feels like home. They have large or small tables and cozy couches. A lot of students come here to study, because it is pretty quite in the late afternoon into the night. We really love that they have games! We played SkipBo for about two hours the last time we were here. Warning! you will have to stand in line. We literally watched a constant line as we sat and had our drinks. The cashier never had a break. Also, she was the only one working, so there is a little bit of a wait. It is a very laid back place, so they take their time, talk with the customers, and make sure your order is correct. Overall, the Phoenix is a pretty hipster coffee shop, perfect for a midday break or a late night date.

1st time wasn’t impressive. So many problems i doubt we return, sadly. Maybe they are known for their coffee… we ordered soup for a cold day it sounded so good…(sorry, we are out) my husband got iced tea, i ordered hot apple cider(sorry we are out!) i ordered us 2 turkey/swiss(swiss family panini-$ 8 ea) it was 2 pieces of bread with 1 or 2 thin slices turkey & swiss cheese ONLY. Chip & a pickle. Thankfully the pickle was good & crisp. The tea was spoiled. Sorry — not impressed. Oh! No paper towels in girls restroom topped it off.
