It’s Chipotle meets Sons of Anarchy, and I don’t think you can find a Cayenne tortilla anywhere else. The steak Freebird with the Cayenne tortilla is so good with the queso, habanero salsa, cilantro, peppers, cilantro lime rice, lettuce, and refried beans. Also, it beats Chipotle in terms of character. Please open more of these in the Tulsa area.

How many times will we beleaguered Unilocalers lament that we don’t have a half star before our pleas are heard? This is another not quite four star establishment for which 3 ½ would be perfect. I’m not normally a fan of kitschy joints that appear to be conceived and birthed in a marketing firm’s board room. And Free Birds is just that. When I walk in, I have no sense that the push to make origami out of your discarded aluminum foil originated when this restaurant was just a hole in the wall mom-n-pop dive. No, some suit hatched the idea for sure. That said, the food is pretty good, and I guess that’s the main thing. The soft beef tacos hit the spot at lunch — get the salsa on the side and avoid the guac if you’re taking them to go to avoid sogginess. The guac is extra, but I’ll give them this they do NOT skimp. The chips and queso aren’t mind blowing but they are a good accompaniment to the tacos. This is fast, reliable corporate Mexican food, but sometimes that’s all you’re looking for when you duck out for lunch.

Very bad food and service. Have been there about 5 times and consistently poor quality food and service. The burritos at Reasors are superior to these and they are a grocery store.

Our go-to place. We like it. And, our little one always just gets chips and cheese, so we usually eat pretty cheap :-)

I prefer Freebirds to Chipotle. Feels that Freebirds seasons their meat better and never overcooks/under-cooks. I like Freebirds because of the variety of burrito sizes, tortillas, and burrito fillings. The staff is always friendly. Weirdly, I like the option of BBQ sauce on my burritos. Don’t judge.

Very similar to Chipotle in style of food, but in my opinion there is not contest, Chipotle is much better. With that said the food is still pretty good. My main complaint is how expensive the food is. At chipotle I can get a burrito bowl(with sour cream) chips and a drink for about $ 10. The same thing here is $ 12 but you get smaller portions. This wouldn’t bother me so much if the quality was that much get better but in my opinion its not. It’s often inconsistent in quality too(rice was hard and chips were stale today:(. We only come here because the nearest Chipotle is too far away for a quick run out to grab something. I probably would give it 4 stars if I didn’t have Chipotle to compare it to.

I love the food here, but they’re a bit too expensive. $ 7 will get me the smallest size burrito they offer(Hybird) and nothing else – no drink or chips. That’s kind of crazy. If I decide to be adventurous and get something other than water, I’m looking at close to $ 10 once all is said and done. So that’s why 4 stars. If they were a bit cheaper, it would definitely be 5 stars since, as I said, they have great food. Their cayenna tortilla is especially delicious with just the right amount of kick. The queso is a bit spicy, so be careful there if you’re sensitive to heat.

How would I describe Freebirds? 1.Overpriced 2. Tiny portions(see attached picture) 3. Overcooked 4. Service with a grimace 20-something stoners with Goth ‘i’m really too cool to be working here’ attitudes; «just be happy with what we’ve got, don’t ask for anything extra because I’m going to act really put out.» Imagine an Occupy Wall Street protest decided to serve burritos… that’s Freebirds

The biggest shock for me was walking in and seeing that the prices were somehow even higher than at Chipotle! I find Chipotle worth eating at because the quality is excellent. But here I had overcooked carnitas, a small spoonful if guac that cost $ 1.75, and sticky and gooey rice. Coming close in second on the shocking list is that the staff seem to have to wear beanies to exude their«artsy creativeness». Who knew I needed a beanie wearing hipster to create my burrito? It was sorta clean. But my rating of sorta could be due to them reacting to the rush. The girl that helped me was also friendly. However, not worth it for these prices. My total meal was $ 14. I got a bowl with carnitas, the added guac and made it a meal deal for 4 dollars. If you are looking for a restaurant to toss handfuls of money at for mediocre food, then you’ve found the place.

In terms of taste and quality, comparable to Chipotle. I’m a big chipotle fan still, but this could possibly be my second favorite. I’m usually in here once to twice a week and a reason for that is their delicious cayenne tortilla. I’m not a big fan of spicy food and these have just the right kick. That and I really like that they have so many size options for burritos. The atmosphere inside is laid back, rock and roll, tattoo chill and it’s also just a fun place to go. Gets busy on the weekends as any place in this area does though. The barbecue sauce there is also probably some of the best bbq sauce I’ve had before.

Freebirds is my favorite burrito place in the Tulsa area. Today I had the steak salad and it was delicious. Service was quick and friendly and the restaurant was nice and clean. And I couldn’t pass up on the chocolate chip brownie which is out of this world!

Not my favorite place. Went to order a kids meal because of my diet restrictions. The side item is chips. When I looked there were 7 chips in my bag. When I asked for more they said sure it’s $.99 cents up charge for 7 more chips. Followed up on twitter to no avail. Not going back I don’t recon.

This is the second time I have been to the Tulsa Hills location. The first time, I said never again. The meat was ice cold and they had been serving that meat to several other customers. Why no one said anything, I have no idea. After shelling out nearly $ 40 for a family of four, I spoke up. We got a refund, they apologized and we dumped the food and left. Today was try number two. Jeez! I wish I had listened to myself the first time. I thought there would be no way the food would be cold again, and it wasn’t. Instead, it was tasteless and old. The rice, both the white and Mexican were hard and barely edible. I had the chicken, my oldest daughter had steak, my husband had carnitas, and my youngest had ground beef. The chicken had no seasoning. The carnitas were actually CRUSTY! So dry it was crazy. The ground beef tasted like the kind of bargain taco seasoning that you buy at the store and then make at home. The steak was good, according to my 14 yr old. They were completely out of sour cream… SERIOUSLY? You’re a Mexican restraint. How are you out of sour cream. When I asked the guy at the register about the sour cream, he was oblivious and just smiled at me. I have tried Freebirds in Texas and had a pretty great experience. Maybe it was just this location. I do know that I won’t be back. Absolutely not worth it. I will drive all the way to Chipotle next time.

Home of the worlds very best Burrito, get it as big as you like, as full as you need and all the taste you can handle. Consider the burrito bowel with steak for a flavorful alternative meal. The service is reliable and enjoyable and you may even see a few tattoos, the atmosphere urban, artsy, motorcycle and rock and roll. Good for lunch, dinner or a snack, if you want modern tex-mex this is your best bet.

Good food, great energy, clean, and good prices. My co-workers and I enjoy going here on our lunch hour. We don’t mind the drive and still get back in time. Food tastes wonderful and they have a great crew each time we have been in.

Chaos. Piercings. Loud music. Good meat. Sometimes frozen lettuce. As my quick tip says(and says it all) – meats are better than«the other assembly line burrito joint.» All else is better at Chipotle. «Pot» Brownies are pretty good. Note the double-entendre.

This place is like a Chipotle on steroids. The burritos range from regular size to absolutely massive and they have burrito bowls for those folks looking to save a few calories/carbs and avoid the flour tortilla. There are so many more options than Chipotle with numerous options for cheeses, veggies, salsas and there are even shredded tortilla chips you can throw on top for some texture. The workers are so friendly and didn’t mind that I was a little overwhelmed with all the options having never been there before. The taste was definitely different from Chipotle, which isn’t a bad thing, but was a little surprising to my taste buds. The cilantro lime rice was the biggest disappointment, but all the other components were great.

My wife and I are Huge fans I this place having both lies in College Station and Houston, TX, where there are quite a few. We’ve now been 4 times to this one in Tulsa and have yet to have an experience that matched the originals. The staff seems very haphazard, and seems to care less about our experience. Last time, they ran out of queso and handed me a barely full cup an expected me to pay for the whole thing. My «hybird» was made on a monster tortilla because they ran out of smaller ones. So, I had a few ingredients with a mouthful of tortilla. Those who have been to the original Freebirds know that this is NOT typical. We will likely go back but our expectations are very low so hopefully we won’t continue to be disappointed.
