I am a repeat customer of REM Construction. They are a small company that offers personal attention to each job. Over time, REM has done small maintenance jobs as well as two major remodels for me. During the remodels, many renovation problems arose that were creatively solved. Remodeling and retrofitting can be extremely expensive but REM found ways to renovate my spaces with class and quality at an affordable price. Not only do they do great work but they are terrific people to work with! All of the subcontractors were coordinated in a timely manner and schedules were met. Anyone that has done remodels knows the importance of accountability, affordability, and good working personal relationships. I highly recommend this team.

Do not use this company. Terrible people that do not know what they are doing. Then when you call them on their BS they get all worked up.

My project has been very slow to be completed, many promises not kept, much lip service, leaving me very disappointed. Wrong countertop laminate applied, window screens missing, etc. To top this off, I had to call PSE for the smell of gas. By the time they arrived, small unit was filled with gas. PSE told me that it was remarkably unprofessional of the contractor not to cap off the line when they removed the gas oven. Worse yet, after notifying Ron at REM, NORESPONSE. I am NOT happy.

One of the joys of living in an old co-op building with upstairs neighbors and dysfunctional dishwashers is the potential for exciting waterfalls pouring through your bathroom light fixtures when you arrive home to the sound of a whining dog and drain water raining on your wood floors. In that case, an even more superb joy is having an excellent construction company on speed dial for the building, and fortunately REM is a great one. We just finished up about one solid week of sharing our small space with multiple workers, staring at lathe and plaster and pipes instead of a mirror, and timing bathroom visits with work breaks, but REM did a wonderful job of keeping the experience as positive, swift, and carefully professional as possible. I can’t speak to their prices as fortunately the bill wasn’t ours, but I feel I’m intimately familiar now with their work! Bruce was the first field supervisor on the scene, and he and another worker or two were able to discover the source of the water fairly quickly(there were several of us residents wandering about stumped until they arrived). Ron was another helpful supervisor who kept us informed of what needed to happen and when, and was great about working around our schedule. Tony was the crew foreman who completed the bulk of the work over the course of the week. What most impressed me was the attention to detail. A lot of people can put up Sheetrock and paint; he did an excellent job not only at that but also of focusing on other things like protecting surfaces and cleaning up afterward with great care. He kept us informed about other issues he ran across that needed attention, like problematic wiring in the walls, and definitely left the space better than he found it(and better than when we bought it!). Unobtrusively professional and friendly, he’s the construction worker you hope to have around when you have to have one around for a solid week in a small space. Everyone from REM was thorough in answering our questions, proactive in identifying previously overlooked problems, and very attentive to detail. The motto on their business card is «We are committed to honest professional service.» I’d add«And it shows.»
