I have a problem with the way Dr. Goodner’s office handles information about dental insurance. I called the office and asked if they take Delta Dental insurance. They said, «yes they do, but I need to pay up front and then get reimbursed by the insurance.» This led me to believe that they were apart of Delta Dental network. However, when I paid the bill and received my reimbursement from Delta Dental, for a consultation and a regular teeth cleaning from the dental hygienist, I only received less than half of the total bill — I still needed $ 102. Delta Dental informed me that Dr. Goodner was NOT in the Delta Dental network. He could charge me anything he wants and Delta would only cover what someone in the network could charge. Well the cleaning was $ 120 when Delta only allows $ 95. The consultation was $ 98 and Delta only allows $ 71. When I spoke to Dr. Goodner about the overage he said they charge the same as other periodontists in the area. However, I recently went to Dr. D’Aniello’s office and I ask them if they take Delta Dental and they said yes, not only did I not have to pay up front (as Goodner’s office had me do), but the cleaning and the consultation were totally covered and I didn’t owe a dime, let alone $ 102 that Goodner charged me. So, not only did Goodner’s office not explain correctly about Delta Dental — that they are not in the network, but Dr. Goodner himself was not correct about them charging the same as other periodontists in the area/​they charge $ 102 more than Dr. D’Aniello’s periodontal office. So, I will not be going back to Dr. Goodner and I hope he changes his deceptive practice regarding the fact that he leads people to believe he is in Delta Dental and he is not!

I saw Dr. Goodner in fall of 2009 after a tooth had given up the ghost. He did the extraction and bone graft, but I moved out of state before he could do the implant.
Dr. Goodner did an excellent job of putting me at ease. Even though I was awake for the procedure, it was one of the easiest dental procedures I had — I felt nothing during, and after, sure, there was some pain and soreness, but nothing overwhelming. Follow-​up appointments were as easy and I never felt like it was ever a perfunctory lookie-​look just for appearances sake.
I’ve finally had the implant done with a periodontist where I live now, and one of the statements that he made several time was how good everything in that area looked. He said there was excellent bone where the graft had been done, and that it was an excellent site. New periodontist spoke highly of Dr. Goodner’s work — this, combined with my experience in his office mean that I would absolutely recommend Dr. Goodner for anyone in the Tucson area needing an excellent periodontist.
