Unity Church of Tucson

I was going to give them NO stars but my review won’t post without clicking on one or more. My husband and I moved to Tucson after attending a Minneapolis area Unity for years, that we absolutely loved. We attended the early service at this Unity 4 – 5 times, really hoping it would be a fit for us, but it wasn’t. People weren’t particularly friendly, there was little or no hugging during the greeting portion, the overall energy was very low, and we always left feeling depleted and depressed. The music was old, Larry’s singing voice isn’t anything to write home about, and every single time he stood there and literally read the entire lesson in a monotone, with rare eye contact with the congregation. I’m 57 and have been on my spiritual path since I was 16, so I’m extremely familiar with the material, but if I lost concentration (which was impossible not to do with the poor delivery) it would take me a good couple of minutes to get back on track.
I’m editing this review after being here for 3 years now, and we have met many other spiritually/​metaphysically minded people who have also felt very uncomfortable with the energy there.
We now attend the Center for Spiritual Living-​Tucson and LOVE it. I’ll write a separate review for that, but for now suffice it to say that it’s everything that Unity isn’t: warm and friendly, with an animated reverend.

Was super impressed with this Unity. A great place for people who are spiritual but not necessarily religious… from the Unity website: «Unity is a positive, practical, progressive approach to Christianity based on the teachings of Jesus and the power of prayer. Unity honors the universal truths in all religions and respects each individual’s right to choose a spiritual path.»
I felt very welcomed here… the music was amazing, the meditation was great and the overall message well received. They have a great welcome for visitors and I look forward to checking out the meditation path and Labyrinth located on the property. Lots of events are held here throughout the week including Yoga, Meditation workshops and health fairs. Check out the website for more information.
