This is, hands down, my kids favorite place to shop. Not only do we come here in search of Halloween items, we shop here regularly throughout the year. The staff here are aways very friendly and helpful and unlike some other stores on 4th Ave., they are always knowledgeable about community events happening in the area. They not only have a great selection of costume items, they also have cute clothes and a fabulous hat selection. My youngest daughter has greatly expanded her hat collection thanks to this store!

Great store! Lots of costumes, new and used, wigs and accessories. Prices are great. Thought i was looking at rental prices but they were actually purchase prices. What a find!

NOT what I expected! More if a costume/magic/party store. There were tones of new and used costumes and costume pieces. Lots of used clothes, too. they also had a lot of things like magic tricks, and some costume jewelry. No one overly friendly, not especially bright or shiny, but if I need a costume and I’m already downtown I’ll make a stop here too.

Rude owner. Won’t be back. I went here to shop for a Halloween costume with my daughter. Our well-trained, leashed German Shepherd joined us for the trip. When we arrived, I stood in the doorway until I caught the attention of one of the employees to whom I then inquired as to whether dogs were welcome in the store. The employee said, «Sure, come on in!» and so we did. About ten minutes into our browsing, a woman approached me and said, «This is not a good idea. You’re going to have to leave.» The woman did not identify herself. She then explained that it was not a good idea for my dog to be in the store. Having cleared my dog’s presence with the store employee, I was confused and didn’t understand. I replied that a store employee had told me that my dog was welcome. The woman then revealed that she was the owner of the store and apparently I was to interpret this(… pretty sketchy) as an automatic override of her employee’s welcome to my dog because she simply elaborated no further — no explanation for the retraction of her employee’s word. Then she asked me if there was anything that she could help me with, which, at this point, was just trite. I said, «Not anymore.» I told my daughter that it was time to leave and we went hastily. Honestly, if my dog were behaving in an obtrusive or otherwise inappropriate manner, I could see it as necessary for the employee’s welcome to my dog to be retracted. But he wasn’t. He was quietly standing by my side and, in fact, a crowd of shoppers had gathered prior to the owner’s arrival to pet him and ask about him. My opinion is that it was rude and definitely tacky for the owner to make a mountain over this non-issue, and even more so for her to override her employee’s assertion of my dog’s welcome for no reason other than that it was ‘not a good idea’. So, I say to Tucson Thrift — thank you for the clear feedback that we are not welcome in your store(because now I know where not to go), at least with our dog, and with the way this situation was handled it is clear as day to me not to want to return, anyway. I’ve lived in Tucson for 23 years and am well aware of the many other fabulous thrift shops in the area. I’ll be taking my family’s business where obscure store policies and humiliation aren’t part of the demeanor.

Words cannot express how much I love this place. I’ve been a faithful customer for about 5 years, now, and seriously cannot sing this thrift store’s praises enough. Not only do they have a huge selection of used(and cheap!) costumes, but they also have a very extensive collection of accessories(used and new). I recommend coming to this store if you have no idea what you want to be for Halloween– just because they have a ton of stuff to give you ideas. It’s also a great store to go to for theme parties, because you can be sure you won’t be spending a ton of money for a last-minute costume. The staff is always(and I mean always) helpful, and a few employees have gone out of their way to search for items, even if it took them 10 minutes. Also a big bonus over other costume stores: it’s open year-round, and is consistently well stocked.

This is one fun and delightful place to shop, especially with Halloween and All Souls Procession just around the corner. Hats galore, clothing, boas, jewelry… you can seriously dress yourself out and not have to pay out the big bucks. It was clean and tidy and had items you just won’t find anywhere else in town. Have some fun and stop in this shop sometime when you’re on 4th Avenue.

If she runs out of something have her check the storage because they usually have more of it. If it is a Halloween or costume item, she can order it. The place to find a genuine top hat, pricey though=$ 150.00 I found skeleton oxfords $ 49.99

Many interesting items. We bought a few. Friendly place. The lady told us about the 2nd Saturdays Downtown event that was a few blocks away that evening. We went there and had a good time. Would not have known in time had the lady at Tucson Thrift Shop not told us. Thanks for being nice to tourists!

When someone gives a challenge like having an ugly sweater contest, it’s on. I was on a mission! I had spent the entire weekend going to department stores, thrift stores and discount stores, but it wasn’t until I got to Tucson Thrift that I found EXACTLY what I was looking for. It was my first time here, but I loved what I saw. Working at a school, and having kiddies that participate in everything, I often have to put together costumes with little notice. Now that I know about TTS, I’ll save myself a lot of running around. I’m covered for crazy hat day, «decades» day and most of all, I SCORED in the ugly sweater department. It was easy with their huge selection. Best of all, I didn’t feel like a total jerk shopping for an ugly sweater here because they’re trendy enough to know that those sweaters are so kitschy, they’re awesome.(That’s more than I can say about the cashier lady at Dillard’s who grimaced at me when I giggled at the horrid Nativity sweater vest they had for $ 40). I’m glad I found this place, and even though it’s a drive for me, I’ll be back.

I don’t know why I have trouble remembering this place exists. I think because it blends in with so much on 4th Ave that it just sort of becomes a wash. Today, however, TTS was a standout success. I ventured out this morning for one thing and one thing only, a really ugly holiday sweater for Unilocal Tucson’s first Elite Event at the Abbey. . I struck out at a few places, and then knocked it out of the park here. There were two ginormous racks of holiday sweaters, literally jumping off hangers and into my arms! It was hard to choose, but I wound up with a delightful zip-up cardigan with snowmen and snowflakes that I would actually consider wearing in more normal circumstances. Even better than my sweater was the accessory I scored. I’d love to talk about it, but I’m afraid some Elites might read this review and I’ll have spoiled my Ho Ho Ho surprise. I’ll get a photo up of the ensemble so you can truly appreciate the joy I have for rediscovering a Tucson mainstay. Oh and the staff there is super friendly and really informative. When I was going back and forth between two picks, the cashier was helpful in leading me to a festive decision!

This place rocks! If you need a costume for anything, just go here, don’t think first, just go! Their collection spans from classy 40’s stuff to modern raver wear. The staff is very informed and good salespeople, who will make sure you buy a couple more things than you need, but you do want those character glasses so you should buy them. Huge selection of wigs, hats, accessories, oh so much more!

Might as well check it out if you are in the area. They were featured in Elle magazine last year(I think it was Elle). But the majority of their items were costumes and trite vintage pieces. However if was organized well and reasonably priced for the most part.

Though this place can get a bit expensive, It’s well worth checking out. They are very organized, compared to lots of places I’ve seen in SF or Berkeley where you’ll pay a high price as well. They’ve got lots of cool costumes, uniforms, and clothes from the past 4 or 5 decades. Here I actually buy things pretty quick, rather than just browse around through piles of crap with no tags or size or anything. Two thumbs up from me.
