We decided to try a local Eastside Mexican restaurant on Cinco De Mayo. Turns out it was not a good idea. We stood in the entry way for a few minutes before we were seated. Chips were brought out fairly quickly… took a bit longer for our drinks and then had to wait even longer for a lemon for my beer:(The menu looked great, the prices might have been a little on the high side but we were hoping it was because the food was good. I got the green chili pork carnitas… I am not sure what that flavor was… it might have been way too salty or some weird green chili flavor. I asked for charro beans and got refried… didn’t matter because after one bit of each I was done. My husband had a red chile con carne burro… the sauce was really brown and tasted like it was canned? While we were there another couple walked away from their table and never even tried their food. The staff is nice enough but that does not make up for bad tasting food. Need better trained wait staff and someone needs to revamp their recipes. I don’t think they will last much longer.

Went to eat tonight, and it looks like it has closed for good! I hope not, but it looked that way to me. Website is Down, too.

Yuck. This place is so generic. Absolutely no authenticity to their food and frankly, really strange flavors to their meats. The chips, although very festive colors, are just bagged chips, which I don’t appreciate. C’mon restuarant owners! I want freshly fried chips when I pay for Mexican food! Salsa was just weird. Looked like enchilada sauce and tasted similar. If you like a scoop of fresh diced tomatoes, onions, chilis and cilantro, this is NOT your place. It was pureed and thick with a weird flavor. Hubby got a carnitas burro. Now if you know carnitas like I know carnitas, you won’t appreciate the strange seasonings they cook into the pork. It just tasted odd. Plus, it didn’t have that slightly crispy fried aspect to it and no guacamole inside either! And the same weird flavor thing goes for the shredded beef taco I got. WHYMUSTYOUADDWEIRDCRAPTOTHEBEEF??? Yuck. Not sure what was in there! Was it diced carrots? Bell peppers? And WHY must you use a hard taco shell I can buy at the store myself? Cheese enchilada was BLAND and very small. Cheese crisp was good, not great. Margaritas were a good deal at $ 3, but I didn’t get a buzz, lol. I say again, the best shredded beef tacos are at Macayo’s with a close second to Rancho Rustico. On the plus side, the server was very friendly. Seemed like they were understaffed tho as it took too long to get to-go containers and our bill. Won’t return.

I’ve been here three times in the last week and it’s easy for me to stop liking a restaurant but they alway meet my standards A+ service and channels are in Spanish real Mexican flavor. Today am trying the soup of the day and some nachos something simple if they had wifi it was be my home away from home but I guess am asking to much but on the eastside of Tucson if you can find a better authentic Mexican restaurant then you haven’t ate here

I’ve been there 3 times now and have been impressed. I have been greeted and seated quickly. Within seconds they provide chips and salsa which is great. I think the salsa is one of the best in town. I ordered chicken tacos each time and they were tasty. The reason I rated this place a 4 instead is a five is because my tacos were loaded with garnish(lettuce, cheese and tomatoes) and very little chicken inside. When the plate arrives to the table it appears to be a large potion. Once I pick the excessive amount of lettuce out, each taco is actually quite small. It’s a good thing it comes with 2.

I was sadly disappointed with my visit. After reviewing other people’s comments I can see why I was disappointed. I thought this was going to be restaurant quality food but this was fast food quality… I would compare it to Nico’s. The food took forever to get to us, when we finally got it the food was cold. Taste wise it was okay, like if said I was expecting so much more. On the positive side the waitress was super nice and they were all trey helpful! Customer service was A++. Also, the margaritas were yummy. Will not returning anytime soon, which is a shame because they great customer service which is hard to find.

I’ve been here 3 times now and have never been disappointed. I usually get my food to go and they always have it ready to go within 10 minutes of my call. I absolutely love the Chicken Enchiladas and a close 2nd would the Shrimp Fajitas. The ingredients always taste extremely fresh and every bite is full of flavor. If you’re looking for a run of the mill meal, I would suggest Chipotle down the street. If you are interested in authentic Mexican food at a fair price, you need look no further. By far the best Mexican food on the far east side of Tucson. TIP: If you like spicy food, they have a special habanero salsa available upon request and it’s fantastic.

My least favorite Mexican restaurant I’ve had since living in Tucson. The salsa was pretty good but the entrees were not good at all. Everyone’s meat had a weird taste to it. I’m not very picky and LOVE Mexican food, but I could not get my self to eat my plate.

i’ve passed this place everyday on my way to work and finally had an opportunity to try it this past weekend. we were wanting mexican food, but wanted to stay near our side of town. this place is right down the street. i guess they used to be located at speedway & camino seco but moved from that location. it was a sit down kind of restaurant and they sat us promptly. they brought out fresh chips & salsa(free refills). i ordered a chicken chimichanga my friends got a carne con chile and carne asada burro. everyone enjoyed their meal and the service was very friendly.

I loved Totopos when it was a sit down/drive thru at the other location. I would always order the Totopos salad. The fried tortilla was delicious, generous portions and the food always tasted great. Today, my family and I went for lunch at the Harrison location. It took 25 minutes to even receive our food… when we did, our son’s food wasn’t brought out because they hadn’t made the fries. Then, when they brought it out, we were told it would be «too hot to eat» for a while… not safe or okay for a 3 year old. I ordered the Totopos Salad that came with a huge fried shell and an outpouring of fillings. Very little meat that was of average quality. My husband’s enchilada was crusty underneath-probably from a microwave. However, the staff was very friendly and the restaurant was clean. We probably won’t be coming back, because the food + wait time wasn’t up to par.

I walked in this dump with my family. … the overwhelming sewage smell hit me like a back draft! We looked at the menu before we decided if we would stay. … the prices are OUTRAGEOUS! We turned around and walked right out. From the sounds of the other reviews the food isn’t great so I’m happy I didn’t waste my time or money!

I was on my way from running errands and decided that I didn’t want to cook tonight so I decided to give Totopos a try. I’m happy I did. Good service and friendly waitstaff. I ordered a corn tamale and the grilled chicken enchiladas. Both are tasty. The rice has a nice flavor and the refried beans are average. The atmosphere is pleasant and the décor is nice. I’ll be back…

My mom raved about the place so we went for lunch this past week. We were the only people in the restaurant and while our server was nice, he didnt seem all that in a hurry to help us out with our chips and salsa or gwtting our food to us. They were revamping their menu so there were no lunch specials that my mom had been talking about, they were out of horchata, out of iced tea(?!). When we did receive our meal my chicken tacos desperately needed more flavor. At least some salt and lime. Rice and beans were standard. Would have had a better meal at Casa Molina midway or Casa del Rio on 22nd and pantano for half the price. The only special available were kids eat free on Wednesdays and we had to remind him to take the kids’ entrée off the ticket. Almost $ 50 for lunch for 3 and a half people. I hope they can change it up. Maybe I needed to come for breakfast because that’s when she first went.

We had high hopes when we went for lunch with 4 adults and 1 child. Service was so slow and took about 30 min. for our food but there were so many employee’s standing around visiting! Prices we felt were ridiculously high for what we received on our plate including the kids tiny quesadilla that was $ 6.00! We were indeed disappointed over it all.

My family had dinner on a Monday evening. Upon entering restaurant we saw two seated tables and two employees seated at another table. We waited less than a minute before one employee looked up and greeted us and then sat us. Our server was very courteous when he delivered the chips and took our drink order. When he returned he was missing one of our drinks and promised to return with it. He took our food order, without a note pad. He confirmed our order and then went to wait on another table. I was concerned at this point that our order wouldn’t be accurate. After several minutes our server returned to bring the last drink. He once again confirmed my order of a chicken burro. When he returned with our food order I quickly learned that my chicken burro was actually beef. Just beef. It had no other ingredients in it even though both the chicken and beef burros were advertised to have vegetables, etc in them. To top it off, the beef was extra dry and the tortilla was a bit on the chewy side. The rice was either undercooked or stale as it was hard and dry, and little flavor. I asked for some Mexican hot sauce and was told that all they had was Tabasco. What? I never heard of a Mexican restaurant having Tabasco only. My daughter’s ground beef taco was actually a cooked hamburger that had been chopped up and used. It was that obvious. She immediately turned it down because of the look alone. She also turned her nose up at the rice. My son, a rice and beans fanatic, wouldn’t touch either one. My wife and I actually liked the rice quite a bit. During our dining, four more tables were sat within minutes. Two male servers were trying to handle it all. During the rush a female employee came from the back and greeted customers who were already being helped by one of the servers. You could tell the server was upset with her for not helping earlier. We left a full 20% tip because we didn’t feel the server was fully at fault. I’m sure that the training for employees was minimal given everything else we experienced. We always hope for new, locally owned restaurants to suceed but, unfortunately, in this case, we may not return for several months, if at all.

I was really happy to see a new place in the neighborhood. So we ordered takeout one night. It took quite a long time for them to get it ready but when I was sitting there waiting for it they ofered me something to drink and everyone was very nice and chatty. When we got home and ate, the portions were good. The meat was nice and tender. It was a little higher priced, but I guess you get what you pay for sometimes. They were doing a great buisiness in the restaurant. It was packed. The next time I would like to eat there. It looked like a nice, fun place. I will be back.

We had the lunch specials(10 – 3 M-F) and enjoyed them. The server was really friendly and took our pictures wearing sombreros from the wall. The bright colors and Mexican décor are great. Their salsa was delicious, too.

I was glad to see something new opening up in my neighborhood so my daughter and I rushed right in to try it a few weeks ago. The salsa was great and very spicy, unfortunately they didn’t have mild for my nine year old. My daughter ordered chicken tacos and I ordered a chicken tostada, we both absolutely hated the shredded chicken, it was too wet and looked icky and the flavor was weird. I’m not sure we’ll be back after that experience. I’d have to hear some great things about other meats on their menu.

We are always hoping for new restaurants to open up in the neighborhood so we were pleased when we noticed that Topopo’s had opened their doors. The décor is sort of classic American Mexican and we were greeted by a pleasant manager who welcomed us and answered our questions. He smiled when he told us they had been open for only three weeks and already had ‘regulars’. Our server seemed to be a kind of shy newbie, the kind you want to help out. My wife ordered iced tea and he brought her ice water along with the regret that they were out of tea. That was kind of weird, but such are the problems of opening up a new space. He brought the obligatory chips and salsa and apologized again for the tea. The salsa was good, though I like it a bit spicier. My sweet wife thought it too hot, but she is a wuss. We ordered the mixed fajitas because both the manager and our server recommended them and they were very good. We agreed that the paper thin flour tortillas were wonderful although we would have liked a few more of them. The sizzling platter was filled with lots of shrimp, chicken, and beef and plenty of bell peppers and onion along with some giant tomato slices. There was lots of flavor in the meat and I loved that they had gobs of shrimp on the platter. No meat stinginess here. The beans tasted okay and were sprinkled with small bits of crushed red and green corn tortilla chips which might be annoying to some but we found sort of fun. The guacamole was good and for some odd reason we both noted that the sour cream was thick and rich. This is classic American Mexican. If you want what you get down in Sonora this is not your place. If you want nice, friendly, comfortable Tucson Mexican it is just fine. The server invited us to come back and on our way out the door the manager said he hoped we’d become regulars. We liked it and I’m pretty sure we will become regulars. That is, if they can find a pitcher of iced tea…
