I love that there is a different theme every month. This month, being May, is a Fiesta theme. The zesty turkey taco salad wad delious! I tried both the enchilada soup and the posole. I have never tried pozole before so I just took a tiny bit to try. It was great! The chicken enchilada soup was not the best. There are so many varieties of soup — something for everyone! This location has very nice people on staff. Pleasant cashiers and the table cleaners are speedy.

We’re trying hard to be good eaters– eat what’s fresh and in season, staying away from anything fried. Eating out has it’s challenges, so finding a superior salad bar, at a great price, is just the ticket! First a shout out to my fellow Unilocaler’s for directing me to this restaurant-really a good find! Reading through the reviews tells me that this is the place to come for a good meal– of your own choosing! That plus the good value makes it a very good choice for us. The complaints I saw are from people who are only looking for a snack and object to paying for a full meal– sorry, that’s not how a buffet pricing works. And to the folks who find fault with noisy kids underfoot– isn’t that the parents responsibility? I don’t like disruption either, but how this becomes the restaurants problem is beyond me, after all, this is a good choice for a family meal as well. We came for lunch and the place was hopping! We were acknowledged as soon as we walked in for lunch. Several people behind the counter were busy restocking and sprucing up the enormous salad bar-almost 60 feet long! There seemed to be an endless choice of things to try– way more than I would find in my own frig, and probably fresher too. I made myself an awesome salad, trying lots of items that I just don’t often buy– then got to the dressing station where I had a choice of at least 8 different dressings! I understand that they are fresh made on site, and after tasting 2 of them, I believe it! Try the Avocado Ranch-a simple twist to a classic dressing! The cashier is at the end of the line and takes care of the drinks too. Melanie, was so nice– and efficient, giving us directions and freshly chipped ice in our glasses so that we would be good to go at the beverage station. Within a few minutes, we were seated at a clean table and our busy server, Celestina, quickly came over to say hello, see what she could do for us and take away the trays. Whenever our glasses emptied she was there to get our refills. The«big» salad was perfect, everything I like in a salad, none of the stuff I dislike because I made it exactly to my personal taste. I had to try the focaccia bread– you could easily make a meal on this fresh from the oven deliciousness! The baker, Alfredo, takes his work seriously and maintains a great number of pizza type choices. Had to try the chicken noodle soup, just a little, because I wanted to try a little tapioca too. Never got to the pasta, potatoes, chili, or soft serve ice cream– just no room left! To sum it up, huge value compared to a deli or fast food restaurant– and much healthier too. Beautifully fresh produce, homemade dressings, just made focaccia right from the oven, dessert and drinks, plus any number of other items — you can’t beat the price for a complete meal, find a coupon for an even better deal! The restaurant is large and obviously well managed. The employees are motivated and polite, always ready to help. I found the produce clean, crisp and in fresh condition and all surfaces clean. It was a very good choice and I’ll certainly be a repeat customer next time I’m in Tucson.

Save your money. Make a sandwich. Staff is the only reason i gave it two stars, they really try to make it a better place. Food seemed old, not fresh.

Tasty, affordable, fresh and you can start with two salad plates! Who doesn’t love that? Today we were there. The cauliflower cheese soup was excellent. Macaroni and Cheese — delicious as always. The fresh ingredients really make us happy and we enjoy eating there. Pros — Fresh, Flavorful, Healthy and lots of variety. Cons — Sometimes there are crying babies and hollering kids. The white deposits on the hot water nozzle at the drink station. Overall, you can get full on healthy food and we visit here at least once a month or more.

Ugh. I don’t understand the supreme fascination with souplantion the soup is mediocre at best. It is under spiced. They didn’t even have the clam chowder there! Even the soft serve is bland tasting. The brownies taste like cheap pudding. They don’t even have craisins for the salads!

Always fresh, always tasty, always consistent. Clean, bright, and enjoyable atmosphere in spite of the foot traffic expected all around a buffet. Employees are typically great; more seen and not so much heard. They keep the salad bar well-stocked. I’ve never seen them be out of anything. I don’t eat off the soup/hot bar side but it looks great as well. I’ve had dealings with the manager who is professional, courteous, reasonable, and fairly chill. She runs a good show here. I’m in 1 – 3 times per week but I miss a week here and there. This is a fantastic salad bar. Hacks: Top salad with bacon from the bacon bar Arrive just before 4pm to get lunch pricing but added toppings for dinner. Lunch $ 8 with coupon. Dinner is $ 11.69 Depending on who’s working sometimes you can get plain sautéed veggies from the kitchen area.

I really like the freshness of the salad bar. They also have a large soup selection with bread bar. They also always have a pasta bar. Although, the taste is very average. I would recommend the wait staff start doing refills. It’s completely self service. Although, you have a staff member come by and say they are your waitress. They are really bus boy/girl.

My first time in after many years of driving by and telling myself that someday I would try this place. So, with coupon in hand, my family and drove out to see what it was all about! We were a little confused upon walking in seeing a bunch of trays, plates, and the salad buffet before seeing any registers. So, following the crowd, we loaded our plates with the freshest ingredients I’ve ever seen in a salad buffet — I commented to my sister that the carrots look like they were grated just moments ago! The cilantro lime quinoa salad was my favorite prepared salad — the quinoa perfect and tender and not chewy like a lot of the time when you order it in other places. Cashiers and the woman who seated us were all very friendly despite the crazy busy the place was. We were seated quickly despite the line and were able to enjoy the food we piled on. Soon we tried the soups, pastas, and foccacia, all a hit. I’m so glad there’s a healthy buffet out there. I’ve made it a point to eat healthier and so many buffets out there(I’m looking at you, Golden Corral) are stocked with overheated fried food or vegetables that clearly came from cans and loaded with sodium. Trying to help my dad eat healthier, this was a perfect place to get a ton of delicious healthier fare. We already talked about returning in the very near future!

I am not impressed. $ 27 for lettuce and carbs! Drinks are NOT included! Meat is not an option, unless you consider chicken in your soup and beef flavor in your chilli. I have to serve myself from the buffet counters and I am expected to tip the table bus people? Even when you have coupons it’s a rip off.

They have salad stuff, lots of it! Unfortunately, I don’t consider eating unlimited salad worth $ 15. While they do have other things like pasta, bread, and tons of toppings. I never felt justified on the price. Unless you’re eating 3 or 4 plates,

Well, I never expected to write a 5-star review for a Sweet Tomatoes. But here we are. I met up with fellow Unilocalers Adam F(our outgoing Sweet Tomatoes evangelist) and Brad H for a trip to Adam’s favorite restaurant. I’ve been to this Sweet Tomatoes before, although not since I joined Unilocal, and I was impressed by this visit. The first and most immediate thing I noticed was the freshness of the salad line, which is at the entrance and you complete your salad before you even pay. It’s hard to keep produce fresh — doubly so on a buffet line — and we were there mid-afternoon, between lunch and dinner. I’ve been served wilted lettuce at better restaurants than this, so the freshness was refreshing. The soup line had so many choices that I wasn’t sure what to get, but I tried their«award-winning» chicken chili(I thought it was quite good; Brad thought it was salty) and the potato leek soup(as recommended by Adam). In both cases, good soups. I also liked the fresh muffins and the cheesy breads a lot. The macaroni and cheese was also delicious. The one thing I found lacking was the dessert, as I didn’t care for the ice cream(too icy?), the tapioca pudding(weak tapioca pearls), or the gelatin(all three of these desserts were low on flavor). I declined to try the chocolate lava cake. Overall, I think it was among the best salads I’ve found on the east side. Certainly the best build-your-own salad. Easily better than $ 13 salads at several nearby restaurants. As they also give you soup, sides, and dessert, it also seems like a strong value — particularly since they send out coupons constantly.

I’ve been going to sweet tomatoes, aka souplantation for years. This location is below the norm. Our«server» came by once to clear dishes, and once to offer their warm chocolate chip cookie. I had to remove our dishes a few times. The food selection in the salad bar didn’t have the full«protein» offerings I’ve seen elsewhere.

Let me start by saying, if you are looking for straight up salad/soup and various other carbs — you really can’t go wrong with Sweet Tomatoes. Clean, super nice staff and plenty to eat! The salad toppings are bountiful — although it appears they no longer do any sort of meet(i.e. chicken) so that won ton salad at the start of the line is «meh». The soups are usually the best, many selections but my fave is the cream of potato. I have never done the potatoes or pasta bar… but I can be found in front of the BREAD. So their«pizza» is something I usually take at least four pieces of, sometimes they have this cheese garlic bread that is super good too. I am not a fan of their fresh breads(sourdough, and other varieties) as it always seems stale to me like it is being readied for the croûton container over on the salad bar. Trust me, doesn’t matter given all the muffins and other stuff is super fresh, so what’s a piece of regular bread when you have the other selections. The only thing I would call out is that Soup Plantation(owned by the same company I believe) seems better to me for some reason. They have different items when I visit the Soup Plantation in San Diego. Sign up for the email coupons when they ask you at the register — you DO save a bunch of money.

Pretty good food. Perfect if you have vegetarian friends since the focus is on salads and fruits. Buffet style too so there is a good variety. The pasta and soup is also very good. Nice spot! + for military discount too! :)
