The spicy ramen is bomb. It’s Korean style, but it def doesn’t disappoint especially on the«spicy» part and the noodles had a really good texture. Their sushi is also really yummy and affordable. Plus, it’s one of the few places you can BYOB legally. Sushi Nara may look like a little hole-in-the-wall spot but they definitely have amazing food and great service! One of the best sushi spots in Tucson.

Very nice and casual Sushi place on the far Eastside. very cozy and informal. It is on the southwest corner of Speedway and Camino Seco in a tiny strip of businesses next to the self storage(not the same entrance). We were greeted right away and offered to choose our seating. Specials on the table and on the wall. Sushi was nice and long and not too thick. we had the Eskimo Roll and the Las Vegas Roll with two orders of Nigeri. We also had Edamame which was served cold and unsalted(different places serve in different ways) Sushi was served with Miso soup and we were given a Korean yogurt drink at the end. Very attentive service. Seating was tables there were also 2 tables outside. Very small parking area, I met my wife who was towing a trailer and we had to park away from the restaurant and I picked her up. I definitely liked the place. NOALCOHOL, but it is BYOB on your own beer or wine. We liked the food, drinks were tea and fountain drinks. Bill was about $ 32 for two people. I guess others have noted to call ahead as sometimes they are not open. we didn’t experience that, but will try again soon.

Sushi Nara is awesome– always fresh, well prepared, and delicious! We love the spicy ramen, and you can’t beat the prices for good sushi in Tucson. This is an eastside gem!

I’m always nervous about trying new sushi places, but was pleasantly surprised after going here. It’s not the best sushi I’ve had in Tucson, but it’s a great stop if you’re close by. Miso soup was perfect and the rolls were great and priced fairly. There are big doors that they leave open in the front so if it’s chilly bring a coat.

Super delicious sushi! Their specialty rolls offer a good variety and every one we ordered was amazing. Highly recommend this little hidden gem. We didn’t realize they don’t serve alcohol, but they encourage you to bring your own. Fortunately there is a Circle K right across Camino Seco so we got our adult beverages there. Service was fantastic! They provide a complimentary yogurt flavored shot of «soft drink» at the end, which is tasty.

First time to get here and find them open during posted business hours. They’re usually closed well within the hours posted that they’re open. Last time I came 20 minutes before closing to get take-out and was refused service. The sushi menu is smaller than most other places I’ve been to but that’s fine. Sadly they don’t offer a cross reference with details of the sushi. People coming and going for dining in and take-out while I waited for my order to arrive. That’s was a good sign until there were people seated at five tables and they stopped serving sushi because it was too busy. Is that odd to anyone else? The service was prompt and friendly. Answers were given patiently as I asked about several menu items which could provide better descriptions. This is the first of many sushi places that served octopus that was fresh! It wasn’t dry and rubbery. I was happy!

Our visit to this restauarant was probably the only time I’ve ever left a place feeling completely satisfied and that my money was well spent. The miso soup and edemame that comes on the house while you’re waiting are a huge plus considering we usually like to dine on a budget, and the prices overall are quite reasonable. They also encourage bringing your own alcohol and will bring you glasses for whatever you bring which is great. We ordered the vegetable egg rolls and fried rice while we waited for our rolls. The egg rolls were sadly unremarkable, good flavor but for the price of around $ 4-$ 5 for three small rolls not really worth it but that was our only complaint and I still don’t regret trying them. The fried rice on the other hand was hands down the best fried rice I’ve ever had. Granted I’m hispanic and don’t eat fried rice terribly often but it was the kind you can’t stop digging your fork into. Worth every penny. I had ordered a Crazy Roll for myself and it was absolutely delicious. I loved that the sushi menu told you what some of the words meant so you knew what you were getting into, and their recipes and names of rolls definitely seemed unique. I forgot what my boyfriend ordered but he loved his as well. The service was top notch, our waitress filling our cups promptly and always appearing when we needed anything as if reading our minds. It’s a lovely place because I’ve gone a couple times now on weekend nights and it’s never loud or too crowded. The atmosphere is nice as well. At the end of the meal we were given free Korean yogurt flavored soft drinks which I’d never had before but it was very good. All in all it made our anniversary night wonderful and we will definitely going back. It’s a hidden gem on the northeast side and a genuine Asian cuisine restaurant if I’ve ever seen one. 10⁄10.

Great place with fresh fish. I’d give them 5-stars but I often arrive during posted business hours to find them closed. Very disappointing.

Free miso and edamame to start is always a plus to me. I’ve really enjoyed switching it up and coming here on occasion instead of our usual spot because it typically isn’t as busy and I like their BYOB policy. The staff is always so nice and their sushi is good quality. The portions of fish on the nigiri are sometimes a little thin but the flavor is good and seems fresh to me. I’ve also enjoyed the gyoza and ramen. The ramen was spicy and tasty but I’ve had better elsewhere in Tucson. The only negatives we’ve experienced here are long wait times for food if they have large to go orders and sometimes it smells a little weird in there which is really off putting for a place that you’re about to eat at but it also reminds me of and Asian grocery store so maybe they just work with some smelly ingredients. To end your meal they bring out a strawberry yogurt flavored drink that is delicious.

Yum! My husband wanted sushi so I typed in «Sushi» on Unilocal and Sushi Nara was the first to pop up. So off we went into wild adventure to try this place for the first time… It’s clean and quite small. I wouldn’t recommend going here with a large group unless you intend to do outdoor seating. Otherwise, you’ll take up all their tables and chairs inside. Their Chicken Katsu with Rice is delicious! Our kids really enjoyed it. My husband really liked the veggies that came with it. We got 4 different rolls: Double Crunch, Giant Roll, YY Roll, and Las Vegas. Try them ALL! Just do it. They were all so tasty and yummy! They have us cute little Yacult drinks as a desert too. I think because the waitress recognized it was our first time there. Our waitress was wonderful. Attentive, friendly, and didn’t wait too long for anything. We’ll be back!!!

This place had promise, it really did. Strip mall? Check. Sweet ladies working there? Check. Sufficient vegetarian options? Check. Unfortunately, I left feeling a little underwhelmed. My vegetarian roles were mediocre, the green tea was not great(had a slightly funky flavor), and the sesame desert things were just meh. The part that really was difficult for me was the music. I’m not against christian pop music(at all), I just don’t enjoy having KLove or whatever christian radio station they had on playing while I’m eating. This is a sure-fire way to deter customers that are not of the same religious leanings.

I probably been here 3 times here and nothing really sticks out from other Japanese restaurants besides the self serve Miso soup area. Also they allow you to bring your own alcohol drinks which is nice. There is no physical«sushi bar» here. The sushi is made in the back and served to you at your table. It does taste fresh. Unfortunately for far east Tucson residents, this place and Ichiban are the two closest Japanese restaurants. And I think Ichiban is overpriced. Sushi Nara serves the Korean spicy ramen type and honestly tastes exactly like the Hongshim Shin Black instant ramen found in packages. However, they do add some mixed onions, minced pork, egg, and a slice of kamaboko. The ramen is a couple dollars cheaper than other Japanese restaurants that serve the ramen made with the authentic Japanese broths.

Sushi Nara is a tiny restaurant in a little strip mall, in an otherwise-empty part of the East side. I came here for lunch because I was craving sushi, but the other sushi restaurants in the area have been so bad lately that I thought it was time to try a new one. The best thing I can say about Sushi Nara is that the fish was fresh. Unfortunately, that’s the only good thing. My meal started with miso and edamame. The miso was decent, not too salty, but otherwise unremarkable. The edamame, on the other hand, were undercooked and had a hard texture that was unlike any other edamame I’ve ever had. There were about 12 pods; I didn’t finish them. The lone waiter delivered my sushi, at which point I realized I had no chopsticks, napkin, or plate. I turned to see if the waiter would bring me any, but he was already on the telephone. I got up and took one from another table — I suspect my table was missing its place settings because someone else had to do the same thing. The menu does not describe exactly what comes on each plate, and there is no list of ingredients for their sushi(other than a partial list of «special rolls» on the table). The prices on the menu seemed low for sushi. When it arrived, I learned why: the rolls are tiny. I thought the spicy crab roll was good, but my spicy salmon roll was more cucumber than salmon, and wasn’t even a little bit spicy. The nigiri sushi on the side had more spice from the dab of wasabi between the fish and rice. When I was done, I waited 8 minutes for the waiter to bring me the bill, and another 8 minutes for him to come back to the table to take my payment. During the lunch hour, this isn’t really ideal. It’s also when I noticed that the open double-doors at the front of the restaurant were letting flying insects in. The fish was definitely the freshest I’ve had on the East side in a while, so it’s a shame that nothing else about this restaurant merits a return visit.

Great little sushi place, especially for a novice. The rolls were great and the menu was informative enough that I felt comfortable with the ingredients. The service was amazing. They brought us multiple styles of glasses for our 3 types of alcohol and were cheerful about it.

I have to start off saying I stopped by while the cook was on break and the closed sign was up. The owner came to my car to let me know she(the cook) was gone but he could start on my dish! This is a must try for all east siders! Fyi you can bring your own beer and wine here to enjoy while you eat Food: The food here is fresh, has great taste and always hits the spot. You get large portions for what you order.(I am talking for all no sushi dishes, since I don’t eat sushi.) Service: It’s amazing! They are very attentive and pay attention to what you need and when. Very personable staff & so kind. Atmosphere: It’s a smaller restaurant, probably could hold 25 – 40 is my best guess. I have been here multiple times now and it is always SO very clean! Simple but amazing. Side note: Although I don’t eat sushi, a few of my best friends do. They now come here almost weekly just for the sushi. They say it’s a must try!

Cutest sushi place ever. The interior is very nice and clean with beautiful open windows for optimal lighting, feels very open and bright. The food is very fresh and light. My friends and I ordered spicy ramen, katsu and sushi. The nigiri was fresh and the California rolls didn’t feel cheaply made. My friends really enjoyed their food! You get free miso(unlimited too!), edamame and a cute yogurt probiotic drink as a dessert. Nice little touches. The cook and waitress(assuming they’re a couple) were very quiet but sweet. Always smiling. I’ll definitely come again!

I have been here a few times now and each time I walk away very satisfied. The restaurant is small but very well maintained. They have about 10 tables inside and a couple outside. While this is a sushi restaurant, don’t expect a bar as all the food is made in the back. Don’t worry though, the food is extremely fresh and flavorful. My normal order is a spicy tuna roll and a large bowl of spicy ramen. Both have the right amount of heat and flavor. The ramen portion size is generous and filling. The roll is tender and the rice is fresh and holds together well. Each meal is started with some free edamame(soy beans) and a small bowl of miso soup. Nice touches in my opinion. After your meal your given a small shot of «yogurt soda». It kind of tastes like a light strawberry soda. It’s very refreshing. Finally, my wife gets their chicken teriyaki. It was juicy, flavorful and tender. Also, it has a really nice barbecued, charred, flavor. All in all, my new favorite sushi restaurant.
