Staring Without Caring

Owner is a complete dick. I tried to get some shade for my child while waiting for a bus and in less than a minute some jerkoff with a bunch of amateurish spiderwebs tattooed all over his bald head came out and told us to get away from his shop. I guess no one wanted his crappy looking tattoos so he had nothing better to do than harass a five year old. There are plenty of great tattoo shops in Tucson, go to one that’s not run by an asshole.

In my previous review, I stated that I started a half sleeve. Since then, it has become a full sleeve, all done at this shop.
I called for a retouch on my entire arm a month in advance in July. Isaiah told me that he only schedules a week in advance. I let him know that I was moving in August, so he told me to call at the end of July to schedule for the next week after. I ended up calling a week before the time that he told me just to make sure I could get my retouch before moving. He told me that he was completely booked and going on vacation so the earliest he could schedule me was August 10^th (after I would already be gone). He asked me if I was going to be returning to Tucson. My answer was «no» because I’m not from Tucson and have no reason to ever return. He then said «I think it’s going to have to be done on a return trip», which we already established would be never.
I had tried to schedule multiple retouches and there’s always an excuse. My first retouch for another tattoo took a year and the excuse was always something different. I have had new tattoos done before ever getting the retouch.
Isaiah likes to do new tattoos but it is almost impossible to get a retouch. So, with that being said, I now have to spend more money in my new city to fix a tattoo that the original artist should have done for free.

After years of deciding on a tattoo. I had something in mind but, Theo, my tattoo artist gave me an even better option. My tattoo is amazing! Thanks!

Easily, the cleanest tattoo shop I’ve ever been in with talented artists in a comfortable, welcoming environment.
I’ve now been tattooed nine times here and will be back soon. I really enjoy the experience. Isaiah is a leader in neo-​traditional style, but is well adept in many other techniques. His script is fantastic, lines amazingly sharp and his shading is really exceptional. He is expertly skilled, has a unique vision, offers great conversation and always plays the best music while working. Highly recommended!
One of the more interesting aspects of this shop is Isaiah’s ability to discover new talent and train them as tattooers. Customers can feel confident no matter who tattoos them while in the shop. Not only are the artists capable, creative and professional, but also cutting edge.
SWC also offers guest artists on occasion who are equally interesting, talented and friendly.
Of all my tattoos, it is the ones from SWC that get the most compliments and start conversations. I’ve had strangers stop me on the street to take photos of my work done here.

I’ve been a customer here for years now and Staring Without Caring is hands down the best tattoo shop in Tucson! The shop is super clean and the staff is nothing but kind and professional. I travel all the way from San Francisco, CA just to get my work done by Isaiah. His style is incredible and its always an outstanding experience getting work done by him. First things first: this is a clean shop with some very talented artists. The portfolios I saw were all very good, but in the end I went with Isaiah (the proprietor) because I liked his aesthetic and his lines. He worked with me to refine my design, spent hours doing research on his own and his input resulted in something better than we had started with.
Turns out he has a pretty light hand and can pack black fast which I really appreciated when he got to the breastbone.

i came here after years of wanting a tattoo from Isaiah and traveled down all the way from Eugene Oregon to get some original work done by him. I was not disappointed. The shop is clean and immaculately organized, mixing traditional parlor design with a very sparse, modern aesthetic.
Isaiah set me up with an appointment on pretty short notice. I’m used to artists wanting to book out stuff months in advance so this was a nice change, especially since I was traveling. I ended up getting one of Isaiah’s orginal Lil B flash tattoos. We went over where I wanted it and discussed the color scheme, giving suggestions on what he thought would look good based on my request for poppy, bright hues. Once we got that handled he set up his station and went to work. Isaiah was easy and interesting to talk to, which helped considerably in distracting me from the pain.
A couple hours later it was done! It’s amazing! and by far the most ridiculous tattoo I’ve ever gotten, but I love it. The lines are super clean and very bold — an extremely graphic, traditional look with a kind of Mexicana flavor. All of the colors pop wonderfully. It’s still in the healing process but I haven’t run into any troubles thus far and everything is going nicely. Add on reasonable pricing and I had myself a very dope experience. Definitely coming back next time I’m in the Southwest again.

I went to Staring Without Caring on a recommendation from a friend, with a small tattoo I wanted covered. My friend specifically recommended Kenzo, and it was the correct recommendation. He consulted with me about what I wanted, talked through it and showed me what would work, but also listened to what I was ok with and what I wasn’t. I made an appointment and went back the next week to get the work done, and he did a fantastic job. The price was quite reasonable, as well. My tattoo is beautiful. I love it and have received many compliments on it. I have another, larger piece I want to get when I can afford it, and I will absolutely go back to Kenzo.

I’ve had both of my tattoos done here and they both turned out really well. Isaiah did my first and he was a bit of an asshole, but his work is good. Christine did my second and she was super nice and didn’t bat an eye at adjusting the font approximately 20 times. However, if you look closely you can see some imperfections– but it’s on my foot so I don’t really mind.
