Update. …they still are the best in Tucson and continue to satisfy my Sonoran cravings. Still better than GC.

Really good dogs, bratwurst, service. Favorite is the sonoran dog with extra jalapenos!

I reviewed this great little stand a few years ago, and thought I’d update… It’s still PHENOMENAL. As a matter of fact, I’m addicted to their food. I have to use restraint and only go twice or so per month. They’ve added some great new dogs as well; coney, BBQ Polish, etc. Give it a shot!

Sonoran dog purists will write off the Sonoran dogs here because the bacon does not wrap around the wiener. Instead, crispy bacon pieces are generously spread over the dog. I find both the taste and texture of the bacon served this way superior to the traditional approach. But what makes Southwest Desert Dogs stand out from the rest is the ability to substitute the regular wiener with a much more flavorful polish sausage. Purists again will cringe. But the depth of flavor added by the sausage compliments the traditional Sonoran condiments beautifully. That, to me, is what makes it the best ‘Sonoran dog’ in town.

If you haven’t been to Southwest Desert Dogs and tried any one of their delicious Desert Dogs you are truly missing out. This mom and pop walk-up is full of personality and great food. You won’t be disappointed and you’ll most likely walk away proclaiming you’ve just had the best sonoran hotdog ever, or comparing it to the best dog you’ve ever had.

As the name indicates, this place is all about hot dogs. It looks like a food cart, but it’s actually attached to a building. I have had: The Sonoran Dog — Loads of crumbled bacon, grilled onion, jalapeño relish, and oh yes a wiener, tucked in a nice soft bun for $ 3. For an additional $ 1 you can get it with a Polish Sausage. I strongly support mixing nationalities when it comes to food. The results are delicious. The Chicago Dog — I wanted the Coney Island(chili dog) on this visit but they were out of chili. The Chicago Dog had onions, tomato, celery salt, a pickle spear and sport peppers that sported a nice little kick. Sounds like a lot for a hot dog… and every last bite of it was scrumptious. They probably did me a favor by running out of chili. Now I have to go back.

This is a great little place to grab a few hot dogs or brats. They have some of the best buns around. Prices are fair and they are very friendly. Check it out if you get a chance. I eat here once a week and am never disappointed

Southwest Desert Dogs — truly a local mom and pop operation. This is simple comfort food, Hot Dogs, Polish Sausage, Brats and all the fixing’s. The«Mexican» most refer to it as a «Sonoran Dog» I highly recommend. This Hot dog comes with Beans, Bacon, onions, relish, jalapenos, topped with mustard and probably sour cream — can you say muy bueno! All in all nice quick lunch stop they also have a covered deck. I bought lunch today which was 1 Dog, 2 Brats, and a Mexican Dog plus two sodas $ 11.00 total — pretty good value!
