Solid Grindz

I lived in Hawaii for four and ½ years. This food takes me back to the wonderful days on Oahu. I highly recommend the Teri chicken and Chicken Katsu.

Ok ok, I went to the Luau at Snow Peas… 3 stars. Only because the rice was obviously snow peas, dry boring white rice… When Solid Grindz uses sticky… And they don’t have katsu there either… So I will not be going back for that, but doesn’t change my die hard love for solid grindz.

I am always looking for something new to try for lunch. The guys that I work with visit Solid Grindz at least twice a week. I now know why! I plan on being a regular. I ordered the Teriyaki Chicken. For $ 8.00, I received a decent amount of teriyaki chicken, 2 scoops of sticky white rice and a scoop of tuna mac salad. Well worth the money spent. I was able to make two meals out if it. For those with a larger appetite you can upgrade your combo to include another scoop of rice. They do have bottles of teriyaki and hot sauce for those who want more. The rice is served plain so I added teriyaki sauce to it and it made it better. The Tuna Mac salad is somewhat plain in flavor but is eatable. Those raised on a miracle whip based Mac salad may not like it since it is mayo based. There is an option to add rolls to your meals as well.
The Solid Bang Shrimp is phenomenal!!! It has the right amount of flavoring that also blends nicely with the Tuna mac. For $ 9.00, I got 10 large shrimp, 2 scoops rice and a scoop of tuna mac with my order. I was able to make two meals from it.
Service was quick and friendly. I waited approximately 8 minutes for my order to be ready. Will definitely be back.

Pretty solid food truck, prices are competitive and they will give you enough food to feed a small village. Pulled pork has lots of flavor and appropriate texture, and teriyaki chicken is perfectly marinated and charred. The biggest downside is the sides — white rice is just too plain, and tuna mac isn’t that great. Overall, highly recommend, but next time I would ask for Hawaiian rolls to replace the sides.

I’ve only had the terayki chicken there because it is delicious. The portion sizes are generous. You’ll have enough to each more later. The staff is very friendly and the prices are right.

Anyone who knows me knows that I love Hawaii and everything Hawaiian… especially the food. That being said, I was ecstatic when my brother in law Tap mentioned that he was opening a Hawaiian BBQ food truck. You see ever since Tap entered our family he has been delighting us with his BBQ during all of our family gatherings. My husband and I were lucky enough to be invited to sample everything on the menu during a trial run before they actually opened. Everything on the menu is cooked fresh and most importantly, with true and genuine «Aloha».
So on to the food… My favorites include the teri chicken, chicken katsu, and the solid bang shrimp. My husbands favorite is the loco moco. The plates include rice, and tuna mac salad, portions are perfect for those with a big appetite! Order a couple of lumpia, they are so good but sell out quickly!
It is awesome to have authentic hawaiian BBQ in the middle of the desert. Give them a try and see for yourself!

Love Solid Grindz food. No longer have to settle for soso Hawaiian food in Tucson. Only problem is, after a grand opening, they decided to only serve the military base. While I think it’s great to support the troops, I don’t know why they don’t spend any time off base. I was happy to see this last week they announced some time at UofA then changed their mind. That wasn’t cool. As much as I loved the food from the grand opening, I am likely to not return even when they return to serve the civilians. Quality of food is the only reason this is a 3 star and not a 1.

Some of the best Hawaiian cuisine I’ve ever had! Good food and great service! Would defiantly recommend it to anyone!
