Came here two days in a row. First day I had the Meatball sub and the next day I had the Omar sub. The meatball was tasty while the Omar was even tastier! They both had great flavor and didn’t disappoint. I’ll be going back to mark off all the hot subs.

Im updating my review. A lot of effort has been put into the food quality and I now report that I love the sandwiches, and the friendly service is second to none. I stop here multiple times every time I’m in Tucson. I retract my previous review and still count this as the best sandwich I can buy anywhere. I’m hungry and I miss it now! Seattle… Still looking for my sandwich.

we went there to have a sausage sandwich. lo and behold they only have sausages on Wednesday !!! our sandwich was ok, very average. I think they need to change their name to the ‘sandwich deli’ being that that’s all they have. they say they’ve been around since the 70’s but that is because they USED to serve sausage sandwiches.

I was back in my old college town this past weekend and it brought back many great memories from the times I had in Tucson, AZ as an undergrad. Naturally I had to revisit some of the amazing cheap eats that fueled me for all those late nights of studying… drinking. The sausage deli was a mainstay of mine averaging 3 – 4 sandos per week. It’s since changed locations since my departure more than a decade ago but, the sandwich is still as great as ever. With my Rainbow sandals on, I headed back with great anticipation. My standard order for the past 15 years has been the roast beef sub, with all the veggies, and a TON of hoagie juice. The rare roast beef is still as tender and amazing as I remember. Might actually be the best I’ve ever had. The rolls are super soft and don’t take away from the freshness of the other ingredients. Best of all, they have sprouts! Yes, I said it. I love sprouts all over my sandwiches and this little deli has always been proper about it. So thank you Sausage Deli for delivering a nostalgia sandwich with extra sprouts, you made my day.

Such fond memories of a suzy sorority sandwich, overflowing with crunchy sprouts and yummie cream cheese present in every bite. Such a delicious sandwich! Welcome to … eh. Cream cheese briefly visited the bread and was dusted with a few sprouts(see accompanying photo). The whole wheat bread is the grocery store generic variety. They wrap dill pickles in the paper with the sandwich, which is cut in two. I got 3 pickles. One half got 2 pickles and the other got only 1. 2 stars because I was starving and it was eatable. I’ll give my money to Baggin’s from now on. That Unforgettable is so much better. and has bacon and avocados on 12 grain, sans the unnecessary iceberg lettuce. Some memories are better left alone…

Best sandwiches in Tucson for over 20 years — huge, fresh, & delicious. I’ve eaten here hundreds of times and never had a bad experience. Try the Susie Sorority if you like turkey & havarti — DELICIOUS. Always friendly, always fresh, always busy, & a great view of the Catalinas!

Won my heart. I can walk there from my house, food is decently priced, it’s one of the better sandwich shops I have tried. Whether getting lunch or deli meats and cheeses for home. Place is the bees knees.

This place is called the Sausage Deli but they only have sausage on Wednesday… I don’t know why an owner would make that decision. I’m sure the staff is sick of hearing this comment and having to deal with frustrated customers. Still, I ended up getting the meatball sub, which was fine. Not amazing, not terrible, edible. This place is not good enough for me to remember to visit again. I probably won’t be back.

Great local deli. The menu could have a few more selections, but what they do make is done quite well.

The Sausage Deli is serving up some solid food, but nothing amazing. Nothing I crave or have to rush back for. But it’s a great lunch option that beats out most of the chain sandwich shops all over the place, though. The cold cuts and sandwich options have always been fresh. The bread isn’t the best, but it’s ok. They’re a bit skimpy on everything but lettuce and pickles, which I find odd because the prices are a bit on the higher end. Especially cheese. I can’t taste the cheese in any sandwich I order, because hardly any gets put on the sandwich. That said, the sandwiches still taste fine. If they put more than one or two slices of everything on the bread, then the prices would be right on. All in all, the sandwiches taste fine but the proportions are off(especially the lettuce, I feel like my sandwiches were absolutely loaded with lettuce). They would be pretty damn good sandwiches with proper proportions of food. I haven’t liked any of their side dishes besides the bagged potato chips. The fries are just the frozen kind, though they fry them and salt them nicely. The potato salad was bland and meh. I would order the fries again but not the potato salad. The restaurant has been pretty clean, including the food prep areas that are visible. There’s plenty of seating available. The staff is ok, not really friendly but not rude or mean. Overall, a solid place to get a lunch sandwich.

If you want sausage, it’s only served on Wednesdays &BBQ only on Tuesdays… I ordered the Reuben & it was good, but no different than something I could’ve made at home. The place is marked with a single dollar sign, but my lunch alone was $ 14. My daughter says her slaw is good, but she’s not really eating it. The service is friendly, but it’s counter service with gratuity… All in all, it’s not bad.

You would think that a place whose first name is sausage would serve sausage. It doesn’t, except one day a week.

I went to sausage deli today and was impressed. They take particular care to make sure the sandwiches turn out awesome. The prices are fair, the place is clean, and the employees are great.

Great atmosphere been here a few times when I have to be here. Friendly staff and great sandwiches. Friend of mine suggest the Omar… I like to try the whole menu.

I love the Sausage Deli, true there is no sausage here which is kinda weird. The Omar is my go-to favorite sandwich here, minus green peppers. But I have never ordered a sandwich I didn’t like. Service is always friendly, if a bit slow but that’s because they’re always busy. Even when I call in an order there is still a wait. Beers are great and pretty cheap however we’ve dined in and sat at the bar and were never offered a refill. Yeah you order at the counter but that makes the bar awkward. I think they should at least offer service there since it’s right there lol. But either way we enjoy it and usually just opt to order to go.

A Reuben sandwich with ham. Gross. Where is the sausage? The sausage deli is more like subway. Or worse.

The sandwiches here are always delicious, although I have to say the hot sandwiches are much better than their cold ones. Speaking of cold ones, their beer here is fairly priced and they have a pretty decent selection. The staff is also super friendly. My only complaint about the restaurant is that they have chic-fil-a syndrome, where you always crave it on a Sunday but it’s not open.

I think from the moment you walk into this place you know its going to be awesome. The smells are so incredible and you can watch the friendly staff make your sandwich in minutes… They have a great hot and cold sandwich selection not to mention great salads and an great beer selection. One of my favorite spots in town.

Finally had the occasion to check out their new digs at(almost) the corner of Grant and Euclid(or 1st Ave., depending on how you want to look at it). Of course, the newish Walgreen’s is on the very corner. I wonder if Walgreen’s gave Sausage Deli a handsome sum to buy their plot of land, which was on the corner, so that they could rebuild? Probably. You know how Walgreen’s is with their corners. You have your choice of 11 different breads, 9 meats, cheese, fixin’s, and sides as well as drink and desserts. You can build your own or select one of their house specialties. Plenty of choices. I had the Bismark which is one of their hot sandwiches on a sub with roast beef, pastrami, Swiss cheese, mustard, horse radish, and sauerkraut. It was really pretty good. Next time I think I would like to try it without the kraut. My wife had a simple turkey breast sandwich. She enjoyed it. I think what we like is the freshness of the deli meat and the bread. I tried the lemonade. Didn’t like it. It is of the kind that tastes like it was made from ReaLemon® concentrate. Yuk. Some people like it, though. I just prefer mine to be like I use to make it from fresh lemons off of the tree when I was living in CA. Yeah, I know, I was spoiled. I do like Country Time Lemonade mix. It sure beats the Minute Maid stuff you find at fountains. Even the Tropicana brand. We ordered the cole slaw as a side. I love cole slaw. I’ll eat any kind. Or so I thought. I took two bites of this sour tasting stuff and decided to take a third bite because I paid for it. But I couldn’t eat it and threw it away. It was just this sour taste in it. No, it wasn’t sour because it was bad. It just had a lot of vinegar in it, I guess. Yuck. The sandwiches are worth going for, though. They are very reasonably priced. I think it is a much better choice than Subway.
