I ordered a Burger medium and it was great, from top bottom it was how a burger should be. The coleslaw was tart, sweet, and crunchy. The service was prompt and the food came out quickly. I will definitely have lunch here again!

Came here tonight to watch a basketball game. Definitely a fun environment to be and they have plenty of TVs! we had already eaten dinner so we just got beers and the combo appetizer which came with deep fried mushrooms, zucchini and onion rings. I really liked their batter that they used and it came with ranch dressing. Definitely a good deal and worth trying. The service was ok. We were able to order pretty soon after arriving but once we got our food, we didn’t see our server until it was time for us to leave.

My first visit here since being kicked out on New Years Eve when I was like 19. I heard the food was not bad and so I decided to give it a shot. Our server was friendly and suggested the wings and/or one of their burgers. Being that I am a wing nut, I ordered wings and a dinner salad. The food comes out in like wicker baskets, it was a little odd. The salad was actually in a small bowl inside one of the baskets, which made it appear larger than it was. The salad was a run of the mill side salad but the server it with little pieces of toast that are buttery and delicious. The wings had very food flavor, I really liked the sauce. They also were cooked well, but they were very small and almost all of them were wings, very few drumettes. I am going to try this place again. It is definitely an older place, the décor inside is from another time in life but it looks cool. In typical bar fashion, there are like zero windows so it is a bit dark for lunch. I would recommend trying it out.

First time here. We were greeted upon entering. Waitress was good. She took our drink order promptly. Food was good not great but wasn’t expecting to much. The waitress also seemed to time it just right when checking to see if we needed anything. Diverse group of people. They have pool tables one area inside and another that opens to a patio where you can smoke. Seems like a relaxed atmosphere. We will probably return.

I am a fan of all things fried at the Red Garter. Not fine dinning or anything but this place is chill. RG is a great place to go with a group of friends after a sports event(we came with our rugby team after practice) or to watch a game. The casual atmosphere makes you feel comfortable making it easy to sit there for hours, eating delicious fried foods and drinking several pints of light beer.

I love the Red Garter. It was a long, hard road to get to love this place. It was not easy. But, with the help of Guinness beer, Amy the server, the San Francisco burger and friends that are always willing to come with me, the Red Garter and I found love. The first time we went, I got a veggie burger, and it was horrible. To be fair, a lot of times veggie burgers are revolting in restaurants because they don’t get ordered or thrown out, so you get some pathetic, freezer burnt hockey puck. My husbands burger was delightful, so we went back, I think the next night, and I got a real burger. Oh my gosh. This place has the best burger in Tucson. They are just amazing, and juicy, and they have a zillion of them, and all of them are amazing. My personal favorite is the San Francisco, which is on sourdough bread with lettuce, onions, tomatoes and Thousand Island dressing. It’s amazing.(Yes. I know a used the word«amazing» a lot for this burger, but that’s what it is… so there). So, onto the service, which really is what made this road to loving this place to damn horrible. I really wanted to like this place. The food is awesome, the atmosphere is fun and very neighborhood-bar-y. But the service, until we had Amy as a server, was hideous. Servers were super rude, our drinks never got refilled, one of them took a LOT of sass with my brother who had just gotten home from being deployed(that one had me really upset). Then we met Amy, the shining beam of freaking sunlight. I always want to sit in her section(I hope the owner reads this. She is the reason I decided not to write off your establishment). Now, it is the perfect bar. It has great drinks for pretty cheap, stellar service, and the best burger this side of the Rio Grande. Or the other side. Go to here. Sit in Amy’s section. Get a Guinness and a San Francisco burger. Know bar peace.

Since my last review of this place, I have a new job that goes late into the night and I’m not a vegetarian anymore. With their kitchen open until 11, my family has come to really appreciate being able to get a decent burger after hours. And in reality, they are better than decent… They’re delicious. Some of the best burgers in town no doubt. Everything food-wise seems to have an element of being home made, which is rare for a bar. Everything seems to be made with care. The atmosphere is fun and casual, and while the building distinctly screams«country», the music is often a fun mix of everything from queen to yngwie malmsteen to George strait. Pricing is average, I would say. Not cheap but also not overpriced. Service in the dining room can be a little lacking at times but usually not aggravatingly so. It is a bar, after all. I can’t really complain about this place, as they provide a nice alternative for us late at night. As such they fill a rather large hole in the Tucson restaurant community as well. I will return often.

Came out on a Friday night to get something to drink and eat and it happened to be on a UA basketball night granted we figured it would be busy. But the service was pretty inexcusable we even waited about 15 minutes to even get seen and then from the time that she served us drinks another 15 minutes to take her food order and you get the picture… The food was pretty good the wings were great the black and blue burger was great but the combo basket was bland. What’s worse is staff was put off when we would ask for our waitress. Maybe we will sit inside instead of the patio and hope for better service.

One of the best bars Tucson has to offer. A gorgeous inside set-up, with booths, tables and a long bar. Neon beer signs, whiskey mirrors and tin signs and all sorts of booze memorabilia EVERYWHERE. You’ll never get bored looking around at everything. Perfect location, ever-so-slightly off the path of the UofA, but not a place where you’d feel uncomfortable if you are a twenty-something. Great neighborhood hang-out vibe, or a nice place to go after seeing a movie at the Loft Cinema for a fun dinner date or a night-cap. It is dive-y, but not slimy; not aggressively college or hip anti-college, or ever pretentious. It really is the perfect bowl of porridge, or in this case basket of chicken tenders and fries(only 6 or 7 bucks, can’t remember but they always come out piping hot with your side of ranch/buffalo/BBQ/whatever). They’ve got 4 pool tables inside, 4 outside on a large smoking patio and free pool on Sundays and – I think but don’t quote me – Wednesday. They also have darts and one of those casino game things, if that’s your bag. The wait staff and bartenders have ALWAYS been pleasant, informative and helpful. They’ve never made a fuss over quarters or asking to change at least one TV to something not sports. It’s typically a super chill mood most evenings/nights. Fridays and Saturdays get a little wild, but never insufferable like Maloney’s or O’Malleys. Game days fill up, but in a fun way, never seen it get super aggro. The burgers are top notch yet simple, although they do have a rotating special burger and awesome pub-grub fish on Fridays for only like 7 or 8 bucks. They have the beautiful, eternal $ 2 pint of PBR, but also local craft brews on tap and a great selection of liquors, all decently priced. My friend who drinks Johnny Walker said their Black is set at the cheapest in town. All-in-all, if you don’t care about flash or fancy drinks, love a fun place with a lot of heart and atmosphere, then you’ll love this bar.

I really dig this little bar. I would describe it as divey but with really good upkeep. There is a bar that runs along(most of) the length of the place and a dining area with cute old-school burgundy leather chairs. It is all carpeted so don’t throw up. There are pool tables in the back and TVs(various sizes) everywhere so I can imagine this is a great place to watch games. College football was playing when I went. The food was surprisingly good. My burger was delicious and LOADED with green chilies, cheese, bacon, and sauteed onions. My fiancees burger and brother’s sandwich were winners as well. The fries could have been better but it’s all good. The menu boasts many burgers and sandwiches so variety is something Red Garter has going for them for sure. I really look forward to returning!

This is a relaxed and fun bar away from the main college strip on 4th ave. They have great deals on pitchers of beer, eight pool tables(4 outside where you can smoke, 4 inside), a ton of bar games, and a jukebox. There are tons of TVs if you want to watch a game. The food is also pretty decent too — general bar food, but done not too badly. This bar is very big and there’s a lot to do. It’s also relatively inexpensive. I’d recommend it!

I took a good friend here and we both loved it. The initial adjustment to the darkened interior aside Red Garter has an inexpensive menu, ice cold ciders, great service and plenty of tv’s to watch live sport.

Met friends here and we had a blast! Fast service, great –inexpensive food-I went for the potato skins-My friends ordered onion rings and burgers with fries. Everything came out fast and not one person disliked the food.(fresh ingredients, cooked to order) it’s also a great«dive» bar-I don’t live in Tucson, if I did-this would be my local favorite.

My new favorite neighborhood dive bar. This place is huge, but homey. There is a large bar and a ton of tables in the front. In the back there are 8+ pool tables as well as other arcade like games. A good olé juke box too! There is also a outdoor patio with pool tables as well. They have a decent beer selection and the service is good. I glanced at the food menu, typical bar food, but nothing that interested me.

I go to the movies at the Loft a whole bunch, and I always or mostly get something to eat before and after. My options have been limited to the same places, just for convenience, and some places close are just not good. I have been to the Red Garter late night with friends, but I forget about the food angle. I went Sunday night and had a patty melt, and it was pretty darn good and at a terrific price. I love a good burger and I am super stoked to have a burger so close to my movie place, a lazy guys dream! Oh yea there are a lot more burgers in my future for me from here(It’s like I’m psychic or something).

Best bar food and place to hang out. You can hang out on the patio or stay inside. You can shoot pool or have a meal. You can have a few drinks as well. This place has beer from local breweries. Yum. Try a Tucson Blonde, if you haven’t or have a Chicken Finger Basket or curly fries. And the prices. Wow! I paid $ 13 for a meal and two beers. Yum. Yum.

I dig the Red Garter. On first impressions, it’s a perfect place to go have a beer or two, shoot some pool, and get out of the heat. There are never specials, but it’s never expensive. Best bar menu in town. Foods to check out: Chicken Finger Basket Burgers Fried mushrooms Curly fries

I’m updating because I still love this place and think it’s some of the best bar food around(fresh ingredients, cooked to order) but also because it’s a great«dive» bar if you are trying to eat low-carb. They have great salads, like chef’s salads, but also they don’t blink an eye when you order a burger with no bun. Great place to watch games. Free WIFI.
