Que Syrah, Shiraz @ Jonathan’s Cork

I had driven by Johnathan’s Cork at least 1,000 times and I have to admit I never visited it, simply because it didn’t look like a place a 20 something year old would enjoy simply because it looked a little off the beaten path, private, and well — -different.
Boy, was I wrong! I fell in love with their meatloaf slider, Aviation cocktail, creamiest mac and Johnathan’s amazing carrot and goldfish pants!
Update: I have been back several times and each time it seems like the food gets better. We had the meatloaf (amazing!), mac and cheese and my husband ordered NY Strip an it was cooked to perfection every time!

What a fabulous evening! This is my first Unilocal event in Tucson and I didn’t feel out of place at all. Corey introduced himself immediately, and quickly ushered me into the wine tasting even though I was 30 minutes late (Asian time, y’all!!!). Anywho, the owner Jonathan was so gracious to give us a sampling of 3 syrahs/​shiraz with some spicy blackened chicken in lemon butter sauce. YUMMO!!!
Then we we were taken to the other side of the room where a lovely gin drink was awaiting for us! It tasted like Christmas!!! NO JOKE! If Christmas tasted like gin with lavender/​lime/​maraschino cherry liquor, that is. Trust me, order the Aviation. You won’t be disappointed.
We then feasted on a smoked romaine salad that was smoked so perfectly it tasted like steak. And this is big coming from a Texas gal where meat is king. We then enjoyed a piece of juicy perfectly cooked meatloaf slider with the creamiest mac and cheese. SOOOOOOOO GOOD!
I will most definitely have to check this place out again on a regular night. Thank you to Corey for being such a great host. And of course, to all the people I spoke to that night that made me feel like I truly belonged in the Tucson Unilocal club. Y’all are the best!
