I have not been in Pie Bird in a long time, at least a year, tho I work right across the street. They have a limited menu and I do not need the extra enticement of pie. But they now have a Saturday brunch menu and I work on Sat so decided to give it a try. It was delicious. A nice sized slice of ham/swiss quiche that comes with a nice side of salad with fruit. Too full after the quiche so will have the salad for lunch in a couple hours. Then I failed and had to order a piece of lime pie. Saving that to go with the salad. But took a bite so I could mention how creamy and tasty it is. They do take a while to make up the order, but it is extra fresh and worth the wait. Saw several things to try next week.

This place is too cute! Friendly staff & cheery environment. Based upon the décor I couldn’t tell if this was a chain restaurant or not but I believe it is independently owned and operated. The pie pan decorations and kitschy décor really provide a home-y feel. I ordered the bagel sandwich — opted for the roasted veggies instead of a meat — the eggs were fluffy and the bagel was nice n’ toasty. I would like to return to try out another dish to give a well rounded review.

I came here on my way back to the office. Wanted an espresso and was made quite a good one very quickly by the friendly staff person/barista. I was then enticed and ordered a hot caprese sandwich. Took 25 minutes to make it. Thankfully as I sat there I could sip my coffee. I was well overdue now back at the office. 25 minutes to get a sandwich. And other people were getting their food. Wasn’t even crowded. 25 minutes. Also the décor is akin to a really nice mobile home kitchen remodel, or a day pantry, or Martha Stewart’s servant’s quarters, or a really clean bathroom in a dentist office. Nothing to linger for while waiting 25 minutes for a sandwich. Did I mention it took 25 minutes? Why? I don’t know. They didn’t seem concerned. And it was pricey for what you got. After waiting, ahem, 25 minutes.

Came here for a G3 Event not too long ago and I was quite impressed by the care and attention to detail to most everything. I found the owner to be pleasant and engaging. The food was top notch! I experienced this place in the context of a breakfast buffet format, and although it was a long time ago, I remember thinking I’d love to bring out-of-town guests. Keep up the good work!

A solid choice for a quick working lunch downtown, service is order at the counter. You’ll find a variety of salads, sandwiches, rotating quiche, soup and a lovely pie display. I haven’t tried their breakfast items, but lunch is certainly a-ok. Fresh, health, simple and fairly priced. Ample indoor seating and lovely patio for those gorgeous sunny Arizona days.

Love this place and the people who work there! Welcoming and casual environment. They serve Café Aqui coffee which is local, tastes great and consistent. I initially fell in love with the BLTA but honestly I haven’t had a menu item I didn’t like. I’m obsessed with the Lil’ Debs and the strawberry peach pie is to die for. Some may say the prices might be high but you are paying for quality, in house baked items made by people who know what they are doing. Love me some PB!

Although the café is regularly open during the week, the owner also opens on the weekends for special events. In my case, we had my bridal shower there. The café is SUPER clean, the owner and employees were AMAZING. The food was DELICIOUS, fresh and hand made. Opening specifically for my party made me feel so special while celebrating my special day. LOVEPIEBIRD!!!

I love this place! I have never been for breakfast but the to-die for food and homemade desserts keep bringing me back for lunch. Try a different food/dessert/drink each time. … you will never be disappointed. Love the staff and décor. This is really a gem in downtown Tucson.

One of my favorite places!!! Their dishes are so simple but have great twists on them and their desserts are beyond amazing! Super friendly staff, always very welcoming too!

Difficult to say which is better — the food or the service. Both exceptional, every time. Favorite item: egg salad on jalapeño bialy!

I find this place inconsistent. Last week they let me order a half turkey taco salad, but this week when I call to order it they say that they can’t do that. When questioned that they let me do it before they say it must have been an exception. Psshhh! The salad is good, but WAY too much(both in portion size and price). I hate wasting food, thats why I want a half. I’ve been here before with a co-worker and they charged for ice water, after we spent $ 25. Cute place, decent food but way too snooty. Now I know why every one in the office knocks this place.

Very cute, even down to the most minute detail. Food was PHENOMENAL! Went with about 12 people so we tasted almost everything. Quiches were great, especially the bacon jalapeño. Homemade bagels, the jalapeño & bacon with the bacon, egg and cheese was by FAR the best meal. Oatmeal was filling, we like ours sweeter so we added broqn sugar. It was a hit! Pies were great: peach and the strawberry rhubarb. Teas were flavorful: watermelon and blueberry green teas. Highly recommend.

I really like this cute little café! It’s right next to my office building so very convenient for a quick lunch or afternoon snack. Their BLTA, mixed veggie quiche, and ham and brie are all my favorites. The side salad that comes with is delicious, fresh, and refreshing. I’m very particular about salad dressings being made in house to reduce processing and other added ingredients. They make all dressings in house and the ranch is delicious! I didn’t care too much for the greek dressing myself, too much mint for me. But otherwise very fresh. My biggest weakness right now are the Little Debs! Two oatmeal cookies with a frosting-type filling in-between…it’s delicious! Try this place out, great feel for an afternoon lunch!

My husband and I loved this place! It was like being in grandma’s kitchen! I loved the rolling pin display centrally located on the ceiling and the comfy chairs and the whole atmosphere! I had the frozen dragon fruit bowl with coconut, granola, and bee pollen, and my husband had the bagel sandwich. Coffee was good, and food was delicious! It was just so totally quaint. The pies looked phenomenal and I can’t wait to try one!

Like many who have reviewed before me, I was a tremendous fan of Arizona Bagel, the restaurant that occupied this space before Pie Bird — I’ll try not to let that color my review. I’ve eaten breakfast there a number of times. Their bagels are decent, but better are certainly available downtown. I did enjoy their cream cheese a great deal, and they were happy to supply me with extra. Bagel sandwiches are passable, but I found their bacon slightly burnt. Their pastries and desserts are tasty, with very good chocolate croissants to some truly sublime cookies and brownies. Their customer service is quite good, and the restaurant itself is spacious and nicely appointed — it doesn’t feel as cramped as AZ Bagel, which is a definite plus. I haven’t eaten lunch here because it’s quite pricey for the fare. A club sandwich, chips, and a soft drink shouldn’t be anywhere near $ 14 — I can get the same down the road at Baggins for closer to $ 10. All told, I’ll continue to stop by for a bagel in the morning or maybe a cookie(seriously, their chocolate chunk cookies are incredible… after writing this I may go buy another), but this will never be a lunch stop for me.

Finally, a place in the downtown financial district that serves good coffee! As a resident of El Presidio neighborhood, I’m glad to have discovered my new weekday breakfast place. Recently renovated, Pie Bird is a vast improvement over AZ Deli and Bagels. I love their breakfast sandwiches — very hearty and filling. Or, just a toasted everything bagel with cream cheese usually does the trick. Of course, I always get their house coffees, which are delicious, flavorful, robust, and wonderfully roasted.(None of that watery or burnt crap… that is my ultimate pet peeve.) Fast and helpful service. You can even order ahead of time over the phone for a pick-up. I like to eat my breakfast on their patio in the warm, morning sun. My only complaint is that it’s not open on weekends… Where else am I gonna get my morning coffee and bagel?

This is the cutest place I have been to in such a long time. The food was amazing! I ordered the club sandwich and was surprised to see that the meat in the sandwich was actually meat and not deli sliced! The tea was refreshing and the workers there were really nice! The owner even came to our table to check on us to see how our food was! A total class act and nice guy! We will definitely be back not just because of the amazing food and atmosphere but because it is a very welcoming place to be at.

Pie Bird Bakery and Café has the potential to become my favorite breakfast place in downtown Tucson. I live downtown so feel that I can speak to most of the other places for a good breakfast(of which there are many). My one complaint is that they advertise free wi-fi and do not deliver on it. Their internet connection is so weak that you cannot even make it to more than one webpage and they are aware of this issue. It disappointed me a bit that they have been informed of this issue and have done nothing to remedy it in the three weeks they have been open. SO I lugged my laptop back home to do my HW and write this review instead of sitting in their beautiful restaurant that looks like it was pulled directly from my Pinterest pages. Pros: quiche was unique, very tasty and very Tucson(Corn, green chile, and chorizo) They serve café aqui coffee which is fantastic Must try: the gingersnap cookie and raspberry peach pie are both incredible

Saw this place while I was parking for jury duty and made a b-line for it as soon as we were allowed to get lunch. Coffee: Quite good. Lunch: had a very good salad with fresh ingredients and tasty dressing. Pie: many good places to get pie in Tucson and I will add this one to the list. The blueberry pie was great. I wish they served breakfast all day(they stop at 10:30). Service is slightly slow, but hey its downtown at noon! Bottom line: I will be back even if not on jury duty.

I’ve been here twice and had three different drinks. With someone finally serving Café Aqui and brewing it correctly, how could I not? I had a vanilla latte and it was delicious. The hot chocolate was also delicious and today I had the Tucson Miel. What is that? That what I asked and am I am so glad I did. It is a shot of espresso, local honey and steamed milk. It is heaven in a cardboard cup! Honestly, it is the best thing since slice bread! I’m in love. I can not wait to sit down with a slice of their pie and a Tucson Miel.
