I love this place when I want chili dogs and fries:) The chili is good and the prices are reasonable. It’s not a great place to eat in but it’s made so you park grab food and eat in your car or drive off. They’re fast and I like that :) The reason 4 stars is some of the other menu items like fish sandwich or grilled cheese sandwich aren’t very good and you could probably get a cheaper and better one else where.

Great little local place. Heard about Pat’s from a co-worker and we tried them tonight. This is not high end food but it’s great. Fresh cut greasy fries in quantities that could give Five Guys a run for the money. Fabulous prices too. Two of us are for less than $ 9. This place reminds me of the hot dog and hamburger stands that were around when I was a kid in the South!

I loves me some Pat’s! I’ve been eating at Pat’s for the past 20 years and absolutely LOVE their chili dogs. «Hot, everything on it» is the only way to go in my book. The fries are terrific but you’d better like a greasy-spoon kinda place to really enjoy Pat’s. I love rootbeer and they’ve got MUG on tap. My only negative is that they’ve changed up the recipe for the hot chili a couple of times over the past 10 years and while I still go there and love it, I wish it was the original recipe, which was terrific. The most recent change a few years ago seemed to go from«Red Hot» hot sauce in their chili to some generic brand which lost some flavor. Still amazing… still 5 stars in my book! I’ve passed along a love for Pat’s to both my kids to keep it alive for the next generation!

The location is really awful. The eating facilities are sad too, with little seating. You might have to eat leaning over the hood of your car. The dogs are cheap Bar-S or Farmer John’s type junk. So why four stars? I really like the chili sauce. I buy it in bulk and bring it home and slather it on good quality wieners(not too good though — Usinger’s shouldn’t be ruined with hot dog sauce), fresh onions, good buns — you get it. Here’s a tip: They require advanced notice to buy jugs of chili. However, you can order several bowls of chili that are about 8 oz each on the spot, and get the same thing. And, if you do the math, it’s cheaper.

Pat’s is a Tucson institution, and has been around since before I was born(that’s a long time). It’s an old fashion-style drive in — the only part that I don’t like is backing out, because you back out, and you’re directly in the street. You can’t beat this place — I picked up a family pack of chili dogs tonight — 4 dogs and a huge container of fries for $ 8.75! It’s old fashioned-style with a recipe that never changes because it withstands, because it tastes great — it’s the perfect Friday night pick and go food. Love the beans, love the flavor, love the hand cut thin piles of fries! I’m glad this place is close to home!

Awesome chili cheese fries. Good, fast and cheap burger. I miss stuffing my face after class and eating outside on their patio.

I think this is one of those local places that you have to have grown up eating to develop a liking for what it offers. Perhaps, back in the 50s when everything tasted better this place actually was good. However, in this modern age of cutting corners along with costs what Pat’s is peddling is nothing more than sloppy sentimentality. The dogs are flavorless boiled wieners. No natural casing snap whatsoever. The buns are soggy refined white flour mush. The chili(BEANS, really) is little more than canned franks & beans minus the franks. Not much flavor to any of it. Nothing proprietary about anything offered at Pat’s. If you long for heartburn and indigestion with a hint of nostalgia this is the place for you.

Drive-in is an appropriate title. You drive in, and there’s the window. The prices are very fair, the chili dogs do the job, and the people working there are efficient. They boil the hot dogs so it wasn’t as greasy as I expected which is a good thing. The fries were decent. Chili, mustard, and onions garnish your dog to make a complete experience. I like how little bullshit this place is. There is no sense of pretentiousness, or overselling its food(like most establishment these days). Pat’s does its job with fast food. Simple drive in, get your chili dog and pepsi, and go off on your day.

What can you say. Hotdog stand with indoor and outdoor seating. Very simple. Chili dog and frys. Or other fast food options. But the chili dog is the way to go. Quick and affordable. Been here forever. 4 star. Well maybe not. But when nearby and craving a chili dog. Yes 4 star. But this is a hotdog place after all. Parking stinks.

I’ve been coming here for years. The best thing here is the french fries, which are delicious. Chile dogs have gotten worse in the last few years. They have less chile, and the chile isn’t as good. Also, the hot dogs seem lower quality. I also always wonder why they have a giant sign on the door prohibiting outside food. It even has a grammatical error on the sign. The place is usually really busy, and I wonder how it would hurt them if someone eats a salad from home along with their chile dog. Lol. It just seems rude of this place, which is kind of a community staple, to have a giant rude sign with a misspelling on their door. Although their food is reasonably priced, they charge for refills on sodas, which surprises me. They are the only place in town that I can think of that charges for refills on a soda fountain drink. Also, they don’t bother to add new ice on the refill.

Cheap hot dogs, good fries, okay chili. While this stuff is good and filling, this is by no means the best chili dog out there. If you’re hungry and don’t have much, this place is great!

I was talked into going here by a friend, and we’re so much better friends because of it. Pat’s has the perfect balance of how much food you’re getting, the price you pay for it, and the quality it is — probably even higher. We scored — and didn’t even finish — the family special. I would have never thought I could enjoy boiled hot dogs(the only downside) so much. The bun is nice and soft, they slam some mustard and onions beneath the chili, and the combo is awesome. The chili itself is incredible. I had both the regular and hot, and if you can handle the spice you really need only the hot chili to satisfy. And if you need some greasy fries, look no further. They’re fresh, delicious, and are a great side with the dogs. One last note. Their character/mascot seriously looks like the offspring of the wienerschnitzel hot dog guy and the Pillsbury Dough Boy.

Just come here. You will not understand why us natives have been coming here since birth, but at least try. Is it amazing? No. I do not know what it is, and why it is so good. It is simple, nothing fancy. Yet, it taste so good in my mouth. Never thought I would say that about a wiener.

OMG! Somebody take away my car keys! Just ate a few Pat’s chili dogs and I want to go back for more! This place is always on my mind but I rarely get a chance to stop in. It’s such a treat. Prices are great, you get a whole lot of food for a small price. Don’t expect anything fancy, it’s just a drive-in place. But that’s what’s so great about it. Drive up, order, get your dogs, and go home. If you don’t like hot dogs, chili, greasy fries, then skip Pat’s. It’s silly to say but too many reviews criticize those very things. Pat’s is great at what it does and doesn’t pretend to be anything else.

I have been going to this place since I was a young kid. I live out of state currently but I have family in Tucson. So when I go to visit I always make sure that I make time to go to Pat’s and have a chili dog and of course the fries. Best comfort food no way healthy but who cares it tastes amazing. I usually order to go because the place is a little run down. But again worth it.

I have known about Pat’s for probably a decade. Had never been. If I am going for a hot dog, I am more interested in the Sonoran hot dog, or in making them at home. Preferably with hotlinks instead of hotdogs. Yeah. Eating hot dogs out just isn’t a part of my repertoire. But this seems like one of those Tucson institutions that requires your presence at least once. Pat’s is steeped in that old school vibe. It’s a cheeseburger and hotdog stand that draws people in droves primarily for it’s chili and its massive bags of french fries. Seriously, you can almost imagine people in the 1960s inviting each other out on late night dates, then sitting on the curb eating their chili hot dogs and drinking sodas. I went for a plain hot dog and fries. The hotdog was fairly uninteresting. Moderately interesting, really. I’ve had better plain hotdogs at Wienerschnitzel. The french fries are pretty good. Humongous bag! I couldn’t finish them off. Decent amount for two people, for sure. There isn’t sitting inside, but there are several metal benches on the front patio. And keep an eye on your food — there are bound to be interactions with the urban wildlife. Mostly sparrows and doves. … Though I did also hear a rooster.

We recently moved back to Tucson from San Diego and have been back for about 3 months; we have been frequenting Pat’s, at the very least, once a week. My boyfriend, for the first month, went every single day. Needless to say, their food is bomb. The business. Fire. Only suggestion to make to Pat’s employees, maybe write down the orders customers make and have an organized line system because they get so busy things can become hectic, orders get forgotten and old people cut in line –_-. ALSO: many of the consumers would appreciate if you brought back extra hot chili. Thanks.
