Stopped here on our way to AZ wine country. Food is authentic not filled with cheese like American Mexican. Good tacos and chulera suiza. Salsas and fresh chips we’re good too. Great service and reasonable price.

Good Mexican food at a reasonable price. Used to go to the Speedway location but this is good also.

I used to really love the food at La Parilla Suiza and it used to be my favorite place to eat Mexican food but the last few times I have been to the various locations I have been disappointed. The food quality is definitely not like it used to be. Years ago, the food tasted fresh and was seasoned very well and now it just seems«tired». It’s almost as if the people cooking it have been cooking the same menu for so long that they no longer put any love into the food. I don’t think there has been any changes to the menu for the 16 years I have been coming here. The staff were very attentive so no complaints there and my cocktail was very good.

On a occasions I’ve had a family dinner at this location. Its really nothing impressive in my opinion. The food is pretty mediocre, and the prices are a tad high for the quality of food. If you order any parrilladas, you will be presented with a fairly dry piece of meat and either a chunk of melted cheese and churizo or bacon and bell peppers. That will be placed on a tray that is placed on a mini grill that is then placed on your table. It’s novelty at best. The rest of the menu is your standard Mexican fair, and to be honest there are at least 4 places in Tucson I’d rather go to that are cheaper and/or better in taste and quality. In conclusion this is just another Mexican chain reataurant that tries to flaunt itself as something special. Im not saying it’s terrible, but it’s also just inches away from being less than OK in terms of food quality and price.

ABSOLUTELYWORSTDININGEXPERIENCE I HAVEBEEN A PARTOF. I wish I wish I could give this place 0 stars. My family and I attempted to have dinner because our schedules were free. We sat down at 6 and ordered at 6:10. Among conversation, we noticed that our stomachs were starting grumble. I looked at my watch and realized that we had been waiting for a solid hour. Our orders were simple and seemingly easy to prepare. However the food never came. Waitress was M.I.A. after taking our order. The other employees were dazed and confused as to our situation. Two iced teas and a glass of wine were ordered and that was the only thing that came. However on a positive note, they waived the price for those. All in all, our food never came and never seemed to be coming. I will never come back after a terrible dining experience, or lack thereof.

Have visited this location several times, but this time has made my final decision of not returning. First we went about 730 pm and it looked decently busy– had a marachi band playing also. We ordered an appetizer an 3 entrees, I always choose the hot plates usually #42. This time the steak was extremely bland the chorizo was horribly salty, couldn’t even attempt to finish it. The server had no interest in us, I had to go to the bar and ask for straws after 20 minutes. Other servers were sitting at the bar on their phone– very professional! My bf returned his #39 because nothing tasted good! Overall, need servers that will pay attention. Sadly they won’t be receiving anymore business from me! Speedway location is much better, and food taste great!

Had to leave. Restaurant smelled like sewer. The carpet was so dirty and threadbare. They were mopping with the same mop that came out of the restrooms. Couldn’t even smell food over the sewer smell. Dirty. Dirty. DIRTY.

I’ve been searching for the perfect Mexican food restaurant and when I came across a Livingsocial deal, I thought I’d give this place a try. Big mistake. Service was non existence. My chilaqueles were cold and tasteless. My boyfriends beef tacos were pathetic, poor pieces on top of a cold corn tortilla. Enchiladas weren’t even hot enough to melt the cheese. Had to chase the waitress down. Just really disappointed with this place and will NOT be returning.

I use to go here(Ina location) all the time and it was one of the places I would take friends and family visiting tucson. I stopped because the service had gotten so bad that it became embarrassing. I tried it again recently, and the service hadn’t gotten any better. Food-wise, I’d give 4 stars. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve tried there and its a nice change from typical sonoran style mexican food at most tucson mexican resturants. They use to have a nopolitas dish that was my favorite, but it’s no longer on the menu. The service ruins it though. If you just show up, order and pay it’s fine. If someone in your group has a question about a dish, or god forbid, a coupon, the typical response is very short and dismissive. I’ve had the same experiance with mutiple servers. I don’t feel comfortable eating there. I’m worried about what happens in the kitchen if they act so openly put upon right at the table. Their menu is a little different so they shouldn’t be surprised that not everyone knows what each dish is. If you ever opened any of the sales papers or coupon books you’ll find multiple coupons for this resturant. Just for kicks, try to get them to honor one. The servers are all quick to dismiss any coupon they see. I know coupons are to get folks in, but if you’re going to flood people with them you should honor one. I’ve heard that lunch isn’t eligible, it’s a holiday weekend(not the actual holiday), the group is too large, and that coupon is no longer being honored(not expired). It would be a fun game to keep trying, but I’m not that brave. I’ve heard the Oracle location is better. Avoid the speedway location. It should be shut down.

we had a large party who ordered at different times but the food came out at the same time. I’m not sure this was intentional so that we could all eat at the same time even though the early birds were starving and the late arrivals didn’t care about eating later. can’t fault the server for this as it might not have been communicated. but the other aspects of service were not up to par. our server seemed MIA when we needed her the most. she seemed blasé about us finding a foreign substance in the salsa. also when handing a knife to my friend, she pointed the sharp end at him and stabbed his arm! she did not care that she did that even though he mentioned that it hurt and was constantly rubbing it. as a side note: the next morning, there was a visible bruise. on to the food… it was hit or miss. the recommended dish was the chimichanga. it was just ok. I ordered the beef fajitas since this seemed like the safest item on the menu and it was the best dish at the table. the salsas were good but on the spicier side. i have had better Mexican food and definitely better service. I would not return if I were in the neighborhood.

Excellent, authentic Mexican food. Great atmosphere too(except for the animals killing each other on screen… poor choice of entertainment in my opinion).

My husband and I went here for dinner one night while visiting Tucson for our anniversary and the food was delicious! We love it when we can find really great tasting Mexican food! I ordered the Mini Chimis(appetizer) and my husband ordered the Enchilada Suizas. Both were very good! Our server was great too! The only thing that would be a con is it took them a little while to come check on you at your table to see if you needed anything. Other than that I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for some great Mexican food!

I never had to ask for a refill. I am a server and I don’t ever let anyone need for anything. But not a lot of people pay that much attention. I had to write a review because i came to eat lunch around 3 so not too busy but I didn’t have to hunt down anyone for more lemonade or chips. The food was amazing super feeling I had the carne tacos they were delicious.

This is some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. According to the restaurant, this is authentic Mexico City cuisine. I’m not an authority on that, but I can say the food here gets my approval. I love their parrilladas, which are huge trays of seasoned meat, chorizo, beans, onions, and tortillas. My wife is a vegetarian and really likes their chile relleno. The prices are reasonable too. My one complaint is the atmosphere — the décor feels the same as every chain Mexican restaurant in America. But don’t let that fool you — the food here is anything but ordinary.

Sadly this last visit was by far the worst experience I’ve had since coming to this restaurant for years! Not only was the food quality not the same as normal, the service made for an absolute awful and uncomfortable situation. Our server was rushing to get out and had us close out with him halfway through our meal leaving us without service for the remainder of our meal, and then at 9:15 as the restaurant cleared out we were given looks by all the bussers, servers, and even the manager. The place didn’t close until 10 and we were finishing our meal and drinks and were made to feel like we were there after closing. One serve kept giving us nasty looks, counted her cash rough in front of us, PULLEDOUTHERHAIRBRUSHANDBRUSHEDHERHAIRINTHEMIDDLEOFTHEDINNINGROOM. We left at 9:50 and checked the door to be sure we weren’t mistaken of the time, and sure enough 10pm was stated on the door. I will be back to file a formal complain for this is ridiculous, rude, and no way to handle a returning customer for years!

Mmmmmmm. We love this place!!! It is one of my husbands favorite. I normally order the tacos dorados but change the charro beans for refried. My husband likes to get the la Parilla, which is steaks chorizo and melted cheese with a side of beans and tortillas(to make your own mini tacos). The chips and salsa are always delicious with the 3 different salsa choices.

There are plenty of Mexican restaurants in Tucson, so I tend to prefer places that have something that sets them apart. It could be a great drink menu, a unique dish, or just downright amazing food. Here it’s definitely the parrilladas. These are entrees that are served in small grill dishes that are brought to the table. The grills have coals inside, so your food stays warm throughout your meal. I got the parrillada de filete, which comes with steak, peppers, onions, and bacon(yes, bacon!) chopped into small cubes and served with tortillas. They also have the same thing with chicken instead of beef. My husband got the parrillada suiza, which came with steak, chorizo, and queso fundido. Both were delicious, and the portion sizes were big. I took half of mine home and ate it for lunch the next day. I definitely want to come back and try more of their menu. They have a lot of other items you don’t see on most Mexican restaurant menus, as well as the standards like fajitas, tacos, burritos, and chimis. The service was good as well. There was no wait for a table on a Saturday, the food came out quick, and the waitress made sure the water glasses stayed full throughout the meal. I will definitely be coming back.

I have been in Tucson staying at my mom’s house since February of this year. So far during my stay we have eaten here a total of 7 times. I have had 3 or 4 different type of steak dishes, the salmon, & the chicken fajitas and I have loved every meal I have tried. I like the PICO, the refried beans, the rice, the corn tortillas, the charro beans, the green sauce that comes with the chips, and I even like the chips. I like the PINK lemonade with some freshly muddled strawberries in it as well. I always order my meals at all Mexican Restaurants with corn tortillas because I don’t eat any gluten, in addition I always order my meals everywhere without dairy because i am allergic to dairy. I will miss going out to eat here once I am back home in IL, because the food here is really good. There is a place by my house in South Elgin, IL that is very good but for different types of food, I always get the Tilapia Ceviche at Coronado Mexican Kitchen & the Combo Platter which has 8 or 8 items in it.

Terrible food. Overpriced drinks. Slow service. Go elsewhere. New to Tucson, this was our first foray into trying to find some mexican food that was like the stuff we got in Santa Cruz at the local taqueria. Simple, flavorful, basic food. I ordered a taco salad, since I wasn’t all that hungry. I don’t have high expectations for any taco salad. I would just like it to have some crisp veggies and some seasoned meat, maybe some beans and a little cheese. Well, for $ 10.99, you get a plain salad, and then for $ 1.99 more you can have meat on it. Huh? Usually, that’s just part of the salad. Anyway. The chicken on mine was bland, boiled and total devoid of any flavor. The taco shell itself collapsed when I started eating the salad, looking like a taco salad explosion on my plate. Lots of wet iceberg lettuce on top of a small random assortment of a few kidney beans, a little shredded cheese, and some diced carrots. A few bites were all it took to know that I was not going to be eating this entrée. My husband ordered something from the combo platter area that was beef chunks(some of which he said tasted like liver) on a couple of corn tortillas, accompanied by a shallow dish of what sort of looked like flan, but was actually some congealed, formerly melted cheese that he had to carve into little chunks to eat. Strange. Our cadillac margaritas were only average, definitely tasted like they had sour mix or nasty Rose’s lime juice in them, and both of us have splitting headaches this morning from them. At $ 10 each, I was expecting something a little higher quality. The waittress saw that I was a little dismayed at my exploded salad and offered to get me something else, which I politely declined based on my husband’s platter and the lousy margaritas. We were very surprised to find that the dish stayed on our check, even though I told her right away it was not good. I don’t often find food that I just can’t plain eat somewhere, but if I recall, most places try to do good by at least not charging for it. I don’t even care if this was«authentic» anything or not — I just wanted a decent meal of tasty food and we did not have that here. Won’t go back.

OK — this is good Mexican Food. Now this isn’t the typical Mexican food you get at most restaurants in AZ. This is authentic Mexico City Mexican food, so it has a different twist to it. We live just a few miles away, so we typically frequent La Parilla Suiza once a month or month and a half. So we go back… and back. I love a dish that has a steak, chorizo and queso. In fact, I typically have the same thing every time and keep telling myself to have something different. Shannan typically has some really good tacos. Service is always good and the food is always tasty. We are lucky it is so close!
