The food is good, waffle is amazing. Service not so good, actually the service is terrible! If the food wasn’t so go we probably wouldn’t go back

The food was ok i was expecting better fried chicken.
Very dark inside and hard to find off the street.

Had a hard time finding the place but it is with ATL wings, I was here with my family and I had ordered the fried catfish, it was delicious. I also had the best peach cobbler I have ever had in my life. The owner was very kind and cooks everything himself. Highly recommend this place, I will definitely be going again!

This was my first time having «chicken and waffles» and it was AMAZING! I’ve never had such deliciously breaded chicken. The waiter was so kind and helpful. I would recommend this place 100%.

Excellent chicken and waffles! The chicken was covered with a wonderfully spiced (but not overly hot) light coating and waffles were light and crispy.
I found the restaurant on Groupon and I’m really glad I took the chance on a new restaurant. I’ll definitely be going back!

Excellent food! The chicken had a light, southern spiced coating and the waffle was light and airy. The serving was huge, so I was full before the peach cobbler but had to try it anyway (and I’m really glad I did!).
The owner was super personable and our waitress was attentive and pleasant.

Ok so based on the previous reviews I had to give this place a try. I am so glad I did! The owner was very inviting a small place but the type of place that makes you feel at home. I had the «Queen» plate which was a huge fluffy waffle and chicken breast. The chicken was so perfectly seasoned I thought I was in my grandmother’s kitchen. I also managed to squeeze in some peach cobbler let’s just say my mouth is super happy right now. Can’t wait to come back and sample more of the menu.

I’ve been forever looking for a good fried chicken joint in Tucson, I’ve finally found it. Best fried chicken I’ve had in Tucson and the waffle was perfect also. I can’t wait to be back!

A little hard to find the location at first but these are the best chicken and waffles I’ve ever had. The problem with most chicken and waffle restaurants is that they usually will only do chickens OR waffles well. Not here. The waffles are fluffy and crispy. The chicken is seasoned well and as savory it gets. The prices are fantastic here and with a student discount it’s even better.

I haven’t even left this establishment and I feel compelled to write a review. Why you might ask? Maybe it’s my love of fried chicken, maybe it’s that I’ve fallen head over heals in love with this place. Who knows. Regardless the chicken and waffles here are to. die. for. We’re from LA and the land of Roscoes and this place puts them to shame! First off it’s super hole in the wall, no signs or nothing. (ATL wings are also based here, they are also amazing but that’s a different review for a different listing) the cook makes the chicken to order and it’s worth the wait! No frills, all the taste bud thrills. Come here. Tell your friends. Tell yo momma. Tell yo auntie. This is your home kitchen now, the owner is so welcoming from the moment you walk in the door.

I don’t know how anyone could give this less than five stars. Some of the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. It was very crispy as well as perfectly seasoned and the meat inside was marinated very flavorfully. The price is amazing considering both the quality and quantity of food they give you.
The waffle was perfectly made as well. I didn’t grow up eating waffles and all the waffles I’ve ever had were crappy continental breakfast level. I finally realized what a real waffle should taste like, lightly crispy and delightfully chewy.

Hidden gem by the u of a stadium. I ordered the Queens combo which is a pretty big serving of chicken considering the price. The owner really knows how to make you feel like family. Remember to bring your cat card for more discounts!

Great Southern Food, it takes a couple of minutes for the food to come out but the wait is well worth it, the chicken is perfectly seasoned you could taste the peppers and flavor in the chicken with every bite, the potato salad is something that complements the chicken as well and the waffle, at first I didn’t think you could make a waffle taste any better then it is, but this the best waffle I’ve ever had.
The service is impeccable.
Aside from the food and service, the cost.
His is by far the best bang for the buck, I underestimated the amount of food you would get the first time and ended up not finishing my meal but for a chicken and waffle plate for under $ 7 that tastes like it should cost $ 15 is a meal you can’t pass.
Recommended this place is right up there with Lolos Chicken and Waffles if you from Phoenix.

I had the «queen» combo which consisted of a waffle and chicken breast. I got three perfectly seasoned crispy on the outside, easy to tear apart chicken tenders and a fluffy waffle. I didn’t know if they had hot sauce (they didn’t have it out on the tables) but it would’ve been a nice complement to the chicken (the chicken is great on its own however). It just took a while for our food to come out.

Perfect waffle and syrup, but I loved the large drumstick the best. I never eat the skin because it’s not worth the taste. I loved this skin! Yum! Crispy and well seasoned. Try this chicken and waffles! One of the few places with good Deep South cooking in Tucson. Everything is made to order so call ahead if you need it quick. This place can be hidden but it is inside the wings place and both are still in business. This location has been open for a month.

The best chicken I have ever had. Perfectly seasoned and moist great food at a great price. No need to travel to roscoes or lolos any more I found my chicken and waffle spot.

Great Place to eat! Good collard greens Fried Chicken and Mac And cheese all good.
Takes a few minutes before you get your food, but check out the museum to pass time! Building is a little small but the food is worth it

Oh my gosh. They’re chicken and waffles are amazing. The best I’ve ever had and I’m pretty sure they’re probably the best it Tucson! I’d recommend any one looking for some good chicken and walked to go there. Also very friendly service, good prices and a comfortable environment.

Being from LA I’ve had Roscoe’s Chicken and waffles, and this place has 10x (times) better chicken! And the waffles are comparable. Plus they give military and government discounts. The owners are former military.
Everything here is prepared fresh. Great hole if you looking for pleasant down to earth owner with good home cooked meal. Henry J is chef, one of the owners and a dietician. He doesn’t cook like a dietician, but assured me he can make healthy versions for catering if I wanted. Menu also includes traditional southern meals and a daily special.
Hope they are here when I come back to Tucson, they are a must go to when visiting.
Also, Make sure you visit the museum next door.

Their chicken and waffles are amazing!!! I even got them ‘To-​Go’ and everything was crisp and delicious!
I ordered chicken legs and wings, two waffles, and grits. Everything was seasoned so perfectly that I never had to salt, pepper, or butter a thing! The chicken has a Cajun full bodied flavor and the grits were savory with butter, salt, and pepper.
My point: This place offers the best tasting chicken n waffles, as well as grits, in all of Tucson!

«Soul Food» dining must represent more than just a collection of traditional southern dishes. A great soul food dining experience nourishes the mind, spirit and body. This is accomplished through a welcoming environment, great service, quality food and topped off with a sense of pride in delivering the best experience possible. I can’t say enough to how unbelievable this place is. You can go there to just eat but you’d miss the experience of the place. There’s a small museum attached to the restaurant that provides the perfect backdrop to round out the meal. I live 90 miles away and I’ll surely be back the next time I get an akin for «soul food».

BEST CHICKEN & WAFFLES in Tucson. Light and fluffy waffles and the seasoning on the chicken was perfect. The food speaks for itself, no need for fancy décor. We also had the catfish and grits, which was fantastic as well. I wish I had room for dessert, I can’t breathe :)

It’s got some awesome Chicken n Waffles, arguably the best in Arizona. My wife and I are both from Texas and transplanted here 35 years ago and being raised on southern cooked comfort food like fried chicken, fried catfish, candied sweet potatoes and cast iron skillet cornbread was normal. Now we can live out part of our childhood again at J/​K Heritage Museum Café when it comes to meal time. You gotta come try this out of the way «little gem» on South Park, the fried chicken is crispy and seasoned with lots of flavor plus the waffles are the best. Part of the secret is that they cook to order so it’s like homemade fresh and flavorful. Don’t miss out, we need this type of local restaurant to flourish because it’s that good. My wife and I are going to be regulars, y’all should too! It’s to die for!

This café is located on S. Park just north of Silverlake. It’s very small & definitely not big or fancy, but the food is great!
My husband & I have been here twice in the last week. The first time, I had the catfish & grits & my husband had the chicken & waffles. Both were delicious! I grew up in Houston, so I know good fried catfish. It was perfectly fried crispy & not slimy! (Slimy fish is just gross!) I asked for tartar sauce & they didn’t have any on hand, but the owner whipped me up some homemade that I mixed with Red Devil hot sauce. It was a party in my mouth! My husband said the chicken had a really good flavor, too. Waffles smelled & tasted great!
Last night, we tried the pulled pork sandwiches, potato salad, ranch beans, collard greens, candied yams, & the peach cobbler for dessert. Everything was awesome! The portions are good size, so we were both stuffed!
Being a southern girl, I’m hooked. I can’t wait to go back again & try the brisket. I’ve tried a couple supposed soul-​food places in Tucson & Phoenix (May’s Counter-​what a JOKE! & LoLo’s Chicken & Waffles in Phx-​catfish was slimy!) & this has been the best by FAR!
So if you like southern soul-​food, PLEASE give The Heritage Café a try. You’ll be glad you did!

Get a taste of southern cooking while you’re on the south side of Tucson.
This café is in the same building as the Heritage Museum. Chicken and waffles are the hit but the menu also includes smoked meats, Philly cheesesteaks, and comfort food sides. The chicken is fried to order and the waffles are perfectly chewy. Go early in the day to have a better chance at getting the meats.
Rich’s recommendation: waffles can be pretty filling, so bring a friend or work up an appetite before you arrive.
