I only suggest going here if you like the cheap«pink» ginger and imitation crab with your sushi. You are much better off going to the several other sushi restaurants in Tucson who serve real ingredients and don’t over charge for low quality ingredients. The ambience is nice, but I don’t think the food is quality.

Only went again because group chose to go here. Same old problems continue: poor sashimi cuts and cold tempura plus some of us had no food when others were already finished; wasabi and ginger left off two dishes. While business was brisk there is no excuse for these type of errors. Maybe more help needed or closer attention to detail on the pass. Management is lacking… Frosted glass was nice touch.

gotta try the oyster shooters! its in a strip mall sort of area that is nicely done with a trendy patio. its not high class but its not low class either. it is trendy and classy with a casual appeal. the prices are reasonable but a little on the medium to high end. not too bad though because the quality is super high end. service is excellent and the food is worth every penny. there is a nice outdoor patio for warm romantic nights.

This is the best sushi and shushime Reasturant in Tucson. It reminds me of my youth eating at the best«Ichiban number 1» restaurants at Lake Bejo above Kobe Osaka Keyto and Nara. My favorite dish is the Heart Attack. Spicey tuna, shushi rice, sour cream and jalapeño pepper. This is delicious and reminds me of chili rellino. Soft shell crab, tempura veggies top off a great meal

Very good sushi for Tucson, especially with Sapporo beer on draft in frosted mugs… Score! We had the oyster shooters, sashimi plate, ceviche roll, dragon roll, sea urchin, a couple of chef’s special and one or two other sushi items. All very good, fresh and tasty, will be back!

I’m very glad we discovered Ginza. The fish is fresh, flavorful, and the service was great. It was busy, but we were seated after about 15 minutes(on a Saturday night, approx 7pm). My wife and I shared a ton of rolls and nigiri. For nigiri we had sea bass, halibut, unagi, black snapper, bluefin toro, and yellow tail. For rolls we tried the rainbow, ceviche, california with masago, spicy tuna, and tuna. The nigiri was all very tasty and fresh. The rolls were good especially the very tightly rolled tuna. The ceviche roll had a nice citrus flavor and contrasted nicely with the other rolls. My wife enjoyed the spicy tuna because the spicing did not overpower the fish. I was impressed with the vegetables in the rolls. Usually they seem to be nothing but bland filler, but at Ginza, the freshness really came through and added a nice balance and crunch. Our waiter was prompt, friendly, and efficient. We had one small issue with our order, which he fixed immediately without complaint or comment beyond an apology. All in all we were very impressed and will be back. Highly recommended.

It was a rainy, chilly day in Tucson, and the weather had me in the mood for a bowl of ramen. We are used to ramen in LA, but considering our location, we had a pretty good Japanese lunch here. The chashu ramen broth was tasty, and I liked how the pork was not too fatty(my problem with the ramen pork at other ramen places). We were also happy with the ventana bento box we ordered. Finally, I found the vinaigrette salad dressing to be absolutely delicious! Overall, the service was quick and friendly, and we had a great lunch.

Ginza Sushi is tucked into an active restaurant complex behind Gavi, and its charming ambience, freshness and attention to detail makes it a sushi standout in the Foothills. The Spanish mackerel and buttery salmon sashimi are standouts, although the big juicy scallops and black snapper held their own. The buckwheat noodles were a bland filler, but the caterpillar roll we had for«dessert» made up for it. Ginza offers a wide array of tataki choices, some outrageously priced. They also take their saki seriously and you can store your own bottle here. I love the Japanese garden-style restroom, and the service is experienced and quick. I like a classy sushi spot without a view of someone’s flip-flops.

For a sushi place this has to be a great one in town especially when looking for quality sushi. They don’t do AYCE(All You Can Eat) but they sure make up for the fresh, delicious and juicy fish. It’s a bit further northwest of Tucson but hidden gems are always hidden away right? The place is in the Bashas shopping plaza. If you locate the palm trees with wrapped in LED lighting, it’s right in front of there. The server was super friendly and actually greeted us us in Japanese. Now I felt like I was in Japan about to enjoy some sushi. We ordered the 15 piece sashimi for approximately $ 23. Which is an excellent choice if you’re not looking to carb up. I got 3 pieces of 5 different kind of fishes(Salmon, tuna, albacore, yellow tail and sea bass cheek). All the fish was very vibrant and lively. The taste was 9⁄10. Probably the best tasting fish I’ve had in town! I also had a house hot sake to enjoy on the side which was delicious and a perfect match. Since we were not full, we decided to get a roll which was called the«Facebook Roll». The roll hit the spot, it was like a mixture of Las Vegas, dragon roll and caterpillar roll all together. I’d definitely return here. I would love to try what other fresh rolls and sashimi they may have. Hope you guys enjoy it as well. «Taste it, love it, Unilocal it!»

Such an amazing place to go have sushi. Now before I used to only go one place for sushi. I felt nobody could just beat it. Then I decided to expand my horizons and my friends invited me to come give it a try. Oh man! Where has Ginza been most of my life?! This place is so AMAZING!!! The freshness and complexion of different flavors are amazing. It’s a private owned family restaurant. Where I was told the husband is Japanese and even the head sushi chef! My hats off to you sir! The sushi rolls have nice cuts of fish and not overly stuffed with rice, yet stuffed with all the yummy filling perfectly! I also met the wife and she is full of charm and passion. You can tell the two of them are the heart of this place! The staff is all friendly and very helpful trying to find what you want. I had a couple traditional rolls and tried their poke salad. Omg, that amount of ahi tuna you get is perfect and the flavors in the salad are amazing! Then there is the cherry on top, which is called the Chilean sea bass. Oh… my…word! This fish just melts like butter in your mouth. It is a hot dish, but well worth it. I didn’t even know you could get fish like they way they prepared it. I was in pure ecstasy and heaven! Now all I do is dream of that dish, I’m drooling as I type this out now. Now my old sushi place is a figment of my imagination, because Ginza in my true dreams coming true! I think it’s going to be hard for them to beat anywhere else. Well worth the money!

I’ve been here twice so far. Each time, I was blown away by the quality of the food here. I won’t pretend to be the world’s foremost connoisseur of fishly delights, but I have been to dozens and dozens of sushi places across the country. This is #1, and one of the reasons I count myself lucky to live in Tucson. The only somewhat negative thing I can comment on is that the boats do have smaller servings of fish than if you order nigiri separately. This is somewhat understandable, given the amount of food in a boat. If you look at pictures here on Unilocal, you can judge for yourself what you’ll be getting. Disclaimer: I don’t eat rolls, so I can’t speak for those. This review is just for nigiri and sashimi, and the chef’s little touches that make it special. If you are into the roll thing, they do seem to have some beautiful stuff catering to American taste. However, I can’t vouch for it personally.

Visiting Tucson from California I decided to browse Unilocal to find a sushi bar to try out. I saw that Ginza seemed to have good looking nigiri so tonight we went for dinner. We were sat at the sushi bar and everyone was very nice, quick service. Toro is my absolute favorite and I was in luck because they had hamachi toro, albacore toro, onion salmon toro, blue fin tuna toro, and aburi salmon toro. We had two nigiri orders of each toro and then also nigiri of black snapper, Japanese scallop, salmon roe and amoebi(sweet shrimp). My husband and I have had the omakase at some of the best sushi bars in LA, Seattle and San Francisco and I can tell you that this is as close as you’ll get to it at less than half the price. We were very impressed! Will definitely be back when we visit Tucson again!

Love love love Ginza. We come here often and make a pretty lengthy drive just to come here! Sushi is all fresh and delicious. Miso is great of course. We have tried a lot of different things here and couldn’t possibly name them all but we have never had bad food or bad service! Hot green tea is perfection. Décor is cute and in a beautiful area. We have been to other places in Tucson but nothing has come close so far. We will continue to be loyal customers.

Pleasantly surprised to find a good sushi spot in the middle of the desert. My only complaint is that the fish was cut a little too thick for my taste. Besides that, most of the fish melted in my mouth.

One of my favorite sushi restaurants in Tucson! It has to mean something if I spent my birthday here, right? Their sushi is good and they have ankimo at times. I would have to say that I love their ramen and they have my favorite shishito peppers there which makes me a happy gal. I’m only knocking a star off because they sometimes close super early if they are slow. I don’t mind restaurants closing maybe 10 – 15 minutes early but it’s a pet peeve of mine when they don’t honor their store hours. It makes a person feel very disappointed and makes the restaurant look unreliable. It’s sort of like a disloyal boyfriend haha.

I’ve heard the words that this is The Best Japanese restaurant in Tucson, ever since I have been longing to come over and check it out since I am a huge fan for fresh seafood. So four people dropped in Friday night, one of us has been to Japan recently spoke highly about the food. And hypothesis has been tested, and the conclusion is this is the best Japanese restaurant in Tucson, hands down. The food are authentic and delicate. I am just a little bit upset about the thickness of the sashimi, but maybe the sushi just wanted all of us to have a piece so he cut it a little bit thinly to accommodate the number of people in one table. I am amazed how fresh the sea urchin is, melted in your mouth immediately. Ginza has become our monthly routine for craving over sushi.

I have only had takeout from here, but it is always relatively busy when I stop by. I enjoy the Sonora roll(crab, cream cheese, jalapeño inside with salmon on top) mainly because the salmon is so fresh and silky. The Jo special is good too, it has shrimp tempura, avocado and cream cheese inside and shrimp on top. I could honestly do without the shrimp on top or swapping it with salmon would be better. The Philadelphia roll is standard, but good. The staff is friendly and location seems clean. They don’t provide much soy sauce, so if you need it ask for extra.

I always hear that you can’t get good sushi on a land-locked state… let alone in the desert. But those people are wrong. Ginza Sushi has amazing quality rolls at a decent price. This location was featured in MSN’s «50 Top Cities For the Sushi-Obsessed» as number 11 with a recommendation to try their Fried California Roll. And while I echo this suggestion, I also suggest checking out their Facebook page and seeing what the Facebook roll of the month is. They always have a different roll each month that they feature on Facebook, which keeps things new and fresh at Ginza. Service is always excellent at this location.

This is the best sushi in Tucson. In fact this is on par with some of my favorite places in LA. Whenever my boyfriend and I get sushi, we always overdo it but this was another level. We ordered 5 different rolls, as well as a few different types of sashimi and a few izakaya dishes. It was way too much but we just couldn’t stop ourselves. The rolls were tight and the rice was cooked perfectly. The sashimi was beautiful, fat pieces of fish. The Chilean Sea bass was the best I’ve ever had. And the gyoza! And the tempura! All of it was delicious. The only reason this isn’t our regular sushi place is because it’s so out of the way. If you love sushi as much as I do, please check this place out!

Two words: Sushi orgy. Jun, the owner, is a really nice guy. He used to work at Sachiko years ago and my closest Japanese friend(OBTW himself a sushi chef) would choose Jun to go to when he wanted sushi. That should tell you something. Fast forward 8 years and I am back living in Tucson and the closest sushi restaurant to my home is owned by… Jun. The food was very very good. The support staff(wait staff, sushi men, etc.) all very good. Even saw Chuy(ex-Sushi Ten) behind the sushi bar. Couldn’t stop ordering food… wherever you go in Tucson for sushi; stop. Go here.

My husband and I used to live in Japan. We love Japanese food and have been missing it since we left Japan. We first heard about Ginza Sushi from a friend and we were delightfully surprised to discover that it’s close to where we live. We have been to this restaurant twice and both times we were very satisfied with the food and service. We recommend getting«nigiri sushi». The tuna and blue marlin sushi are outstanding. During our second visit, I also tried the ramen but it wasn’t that great. I guess that I was spoiled by all the wonderful ramen in Japan. We also had the flan for dessert and it was a delicious capper to a wonderful dinner.

Ahh, Ginza, Ginzahhh, how much can one love sushi? So fresh from the sea, like a lover the flesh caresses you, tastebudgasm after tastebudgasm. To savor and swish such luscious fish is sheer delight to sushi snobs such as me. Ankimo, aji, hokkaisan, and I await komochicombu and chawanmushi treasures. I’ve dined literally at thousands of fine Japanese establishments, and have met and made a fresh new local friend. You shall see me again, in secret and in the open, for it is I who have fallen deeply in love. Continue to treat me well, Ginza, by your lovely servers and dashing chefs, as I continue equally to marvel at your many talents and edible, artful delights. Itadakimasu.

Update: I just came across this video of a man eating chirashi in Tokyo, and he does indeed have a shrimp head in his bowl too. Only difference is his shrimp head was attached to a delicious raw prawn, whereas mine was just thrown in, left over from some shrimp they served to someone else. The rest of his chirashi bowl was equally incomparable to what these guys gypped me with. His cost $ 16. Mine $ 40. PS The girl who checked off«funny» under my review also PM’d me. She said I don’t know how good a shrimp head is. So I offered her another $ 40 if she can eat a big shrimp head, tentacles and all. My offer still stands, and maybe she can PM me again, and maybe these guys can find another big shrimp head for her in their garbage pail.

we came to ginza for my sister-in-law’s birthday dinner. they were able to accommodate sixteen of us! the staff was very attentive and brought out our drinks and then took our food order. everything on the menu looked delicious and it was hard to decide what we wanted. my friend ordered the udon and i had a couple noodles. they were so delicious. i would definitely get that if i go back again. my husband and i shared a combo plate which we were able to choose items. we got the teriyaki chicken, assorted(5) piece nigiri and shrimp tempura. it also came with a salad. my husband also ordered a scallop dynamite which had flavorful sauce and a good amount of onions. wish there were just a few more mushrooms, though! the shrimp tempura was a bit soggier than i would’ve liked, and the teriyaki chicken was just mediocre. i was able to taste a few pieces of sushi from a couple different rolls and everything else looked and tasted delicious!

One of the first places we went to after the move.. Highly reviewed and didn’t disappoint. We chose to sit at the sushi bar. Enjoyed miso, sake, and sushi. Very personable and attentive staff. Don’t be afraid to ask the chefs for suggestions. They cut us some fresh and flavorful fish. We live close by, so I’m sure we’ll be back to check out what else the menu has to offer. We had a regular suggest that we try the flan, which I’m sure we will do later on.
