Best chocolate croissant, hands down. So flaky and it has the perfect amount of chocolate filling. The iced coffee is better than the ones you get at Starbucks also. The owners are always super nice and it is one of my favorite places in Tucson.

Went there three times for brunch during a four day vacation in Tucson. My husband and two friends also liked it quite a bit. The food is quite good and they’ll make it the way you want it, great cappucinos(skip the coffee chains and come here), fabulous macaroons, and the most amazing looking pastries I’ve ever seen. Caveat: the only sweets I had were the macaroons, but I’m serious about how beautiful the pastries looked. The other three with me had pastries and loved them. Amongst the four of us, as I can remember, we had omelets, Croque Madames, soup and salad… all enjoyed by everyone, including the macaroons! Seating is «seat yourself» after you order. They bring the food to your table. There is indoor and covered outdoor seating. I suspect the french chef/owner’s family also works there; very nice and helpful people if you have questions about the menu. I would love to have this place in Seattle.

I walked in to Frogs expecting to be blown away. French desserts? Lattes? Cool atmosphere?! Sign me right up! Well, unfortunately, things didn’t work out so swell. After waiting what seemed like forever for the customers in front of us, it was our turn. We had some questions about the desserts, which we asked the employee helping us. Well, was he apathetic to questions. He listed basic ingredients to us like he was terribly bored by us. Ok, whatever. So we ordered our pastries, which looked decent in the case. I also ordered a latte. We paid the slightly high prices, and I showed him my Unilocal check-in offer of a free cookie(with a minimum $ 8 purchase). He very angrily told me that he will not honor that. Dumbfounded, I asked why not. He went on a rather long tirade about how Unilocal stinks and how he has asked them numerous times to remove the offer but they won’t. I was so much in shock, that I just stood there with my jaw hanging open. At this point, I learn that he’s a manager of some sort. A manager ranting about Unilocal and refusing to honor something for a first time customer. A manager willing to make a scene like that. A manager willing to alienate customers and make them feel ostracized in his restaurant. And the kicker — their macaroons are less than $ 2, if I recall correctly. What would it have hurt him to be nice to us? Instead, he was so angry, and so rude, and so unpleasant, that I’ll never step foot in this ungrateful establishment again. I will not be treated like a criminal for presenting a coupon. To top it off, the food wasn’t even that great. My pecan pie thing was bland and weird tasting. My husband’s pastry was merely ok(I forgot what it was called, oops). My latte was terrible — honestly the worst I’ve had in town. It was super, super bitter and the milk added absolutely nothing to it. The prices are high, which I would accept because the food is freshly baked, but it has to taste good too, and it doesn’t. The parking lot is joke. It’s small and it’s like no one has a brain while driving through it. We even saw an old person decide to use a walkway as a parking spot, because fuck the rest of you people that would like to walk, right? Overall, I would suggest no one waste their money on a business whose management is ok with making customers feel like crap. I don’t care what the food tastes like, if they don’t value you, then they don’t deserve your money. Period.

Frogs is an Adorable bakery! The staff is friendly and the food is high quality, fresh and delish! My only complaint is their Internet is spotty and they have all the outlets blocked off!!– like they have them, but don’t want people using them??? Good for breakfast or lunch but don’t try and do your work here. It appears like they don’t want their customer’s lingering too long…

5 stars because its organic. In the attempt to eat healthy, not dieting, eating organic is a lifestyle I want to get in to. Just dont have the pocket for. Frogs is not expensive at all. And after a few visits, I’m sure you’ll forget its an organic bakery. My friend got me started here, when she wanted to try their macarons. I looked over their menu and eyed the Croque Madame! After doing a pick up, I had to go in for a visit. I got the same sandwich again and its definitely my favorite thing now. I’m not a macaron fan, and am attempting to try every pastry displayed thru the window. One thing I cant get pass is the zucchini muffin. WTH??? I dont even like zuchini muffin. I’m not sure what tempted me to try it but I’m so glad I did!!!

Food is great! Service is wonderful! A little on the expensive side, however good food is always worth it! Would have given 5 stars but they didn’t honor the free cookie for the check in, so be careful :(

I have been to Paris three times thus far in life. And Paris has nothing on Frogs Organic bakery’s croissants! They are the LARGEST, fluffy, flaky crossis I have experienced. The regular, chocolate, almond… all are wunderbar! I love that I can pick them up at Frogs, Whole Foods or at the farmer’s market at St. Phillips. They are show stoppers, and something everyone must try… the real deal. I also adore their Olive bread. I did not devour all of it, but fear not, I turned the rest into the best salad croutons I have ever had!!! I cannot wait to try more menu items here.

5 stars for some of the best pastries and baked goods I have ever had in the US. The coffee, I must add, was AWFUL. Frogs: fix your coffee concept please. Opening crappy little Americano creamer packets is for a truck stop or a 7 – 11.

It would have to be Paris for 5 stars, but definitely 41⁄2. A great place to hang for caffe and croissant or brioche. Weather permitting, eat outside — they will bring your coffee, you carry your goodies. Close your eyes and yes, you could be in France, Spain, italy or even… Tucson. Shop for groceries after at Whole Paycheck, oops, Foods. Frogs’ owners are a hardworking couple with smiles for their happy customers who, BTW, can order lots more than coffee and sweeties. Great for lunch and their bread is very French. And here I thought that all the hip ‘good’ spots were on the east side. Not so! As we say in Oz, «Give it a burl, mate.»

Fabulous French food with Foul French Attitude. I have had breakfast at the Frog many times over the past two years and for some reason, kept going back — hoping they would get their service issues under control. But, I give up. It’s not going to get any better and I’m going to find somewhere else. Service and customer interaction is the main problem, pricing is the next problem. Food quality is not a problem, but it is not good enough to make up the overarching problems with customer interface moments. The ordering queue is a total mess. There are sometimes two lines(at least that’s how it seems), but it is never really clear where the lines are/is. So the first experience the customer has with the staff is confused — not good in the service industry. It seems that the counter staff(two people) are also tasked to deliver the orders to tables, prepare coffee, and otherwise«fetch & carry». All this while hungry patrons stand in line(s) trying to figure out where and how to order. More than once, I’ve had the person behind the register take the order ahead of me, then turn on his/her heals and trot off to do something else, leaving me standing there bewildered. Not so much as a «I’ll be right back with you…», or «I have to close this line so take your butt over to the end of that other line.» When I did get service today, it was surly, no eye contact, no suggestions or clarification questions as I put together my order, and no «Thank you» when the change was handed back to me. It was like getting new tags at the Department of Motor Vehicles. Today was the last straw for me. As for the food, yes the baked goods are nice and fresh, eggs cooked to order were fine. And the fresh greens are always a treat, although the ranch dressing is thin and«cheap» tasting. I ordered a side of ham with my eggs. The ham was an odd looking thing that looked like thinly sliced lunch meat that had been warmed and served on a lonely plastic white plate(all the plates are plastic, by the way). Not a ham slab grilled like one would expect in a restaurant for breakfast. It seems to me that the prices run about 20% higher than similar fare at other breakfast places in town. And given that you have to work your way through the surly ordering process, are served on plastic, sit on the hardest, most uncomfortable chairs in the state, and cannot get a coffee refill without paying once again, it is a very poor value, indeed. I’ve given up hoping they will figure out what the service business is all about.

decent café i must say in tucson. I didnt expect the interior to be that nice and welcoming. i was able to sit and do some reading while eating my almond croissant and drinking my soy latte. counter service a little slow… i waited in line for a while and was almost cut by a lady standing behind me… but it was all good. got my almond croissant. which was humungous! almond filling was spilling out, it was soft and funny, unlike the almond paste ive had with other almond croissants. flaky, butter, but not the best ive had. soy latte came in a huge cup. foam had huge bubles and i was hoping for a nice little foam art, but it was just a blob of foam. also got a scone togo, it looked really crunchy outside…(takes a bite)…annnnd it is very crunchy… inside and outside… was hoping the inside was softer… pretty expensive. almond croissant, scone and lattee for $ 13! if i come back… it would be for the ambiance.

Came across Frogs Organic Bakery at the Old Town Scottsdale Farmers Market just this morning. It was only 8:20 am and already there was quite a few people in front of the stall waiting for their turn to pick up some baked items with a french touch. I got what I think is an Apple Cake. I would describe it as, if a bread pudding and an apple pie had a baby, with some raisins on it. The decent size piece for $ 4 did not last 10 minutes between myself and my daughter. It was delicious in my opinion, not too sweet and the apples were still lightly crunchy. Also picked up some plain croissant, plain almond croissant and a loaf of french country bread. It just seemed right to do so. And the customers there seemed like regulars and were really going for these items. Also picked up some sticky buns that looked very delectable. The gentleman and lady manning the booth were very friendly and helpful, even to a french bakery novice like myself. Overall, I agree that the prices are steep, but 2 points to highlight, the products do scream high quality and they are organic. In my opinion, comparing it with other organic products in the same category, price is right on the mark. I look forward to stopping by the stall again next weekend :)

Such a great place to sit, drink coffee and visit. A couple of minor things that prevent it from getting a 4th star from me. 1. The menu is not really user friendly. It takes a while to decipher what is there, which is something I really don’t like in a order at the counter type place. If you are going for the pastries you can pick from the glass cases easily enough, but unless you are getting the prominently displayed specials(white board as you come in and on the wall) it takes a while to figure what they have. The choices are actually pretty limited so it shouldn’t be that hard. 2. You have to go to the counter for coffe refills. The coffee is good and the cups are huge, but I like to go get my own refills(especially in a breakfast/bakery type place) 3. You pay a PREMIUM for the setting. The prices don’t reflect the value of the meal. They more reflect the cost of being in this location. Slightly to the east of this place(just across the street) you can get great breads/baked good, refill your own coffee and(if you are a party of six like we usually are) you can leave with $ 20-$ 40 extra in your wallet. Still think it is a great place, but with so many great places in this town they will need to step up their game if they want to set themselves apart. BTW — I got a check in special of a free cookie and when I showed it to the server she said, «We don’t even have cookies anymore.» She did bring a macaroon which was pretty tasty.

I just treated myself to a late breakfast at Frog’s. Breakfast by myself eaten at a quiet table is a luxury in itself and the experience at Frog’s is making me crave it again. The location has had a total overhaul since it was Paradise Bakery. The tables are rough hewn wood with cute iron chairs. There is plenty of seating inside and out. The concept is an organic French bakery. The chef is French, and trained in France. I arrived at about 9 am on a Tuesday morning, not surprisingly it wasn’t very busy though there was a fairly steady stream of customers ordering pastries. Now, to talk about the pastries. I ordered a croissant. Is there anything more heavenly on this Earth than a perfect flakey buttery croissant? Frogs’ are decedent, crisp, flaky, and rich. I ached for any crumb that couldn’t be consumed. How do the French women stay so slim? Next time I’m going to get a chocolate croissant, I just need to figure out how to ditch every responsibility I have so I can eat there daily! I also ordered an omelet with swiss cheese and mushrooms. It was served with a side of toast and potatoes. The omelet was amazing, light and fluffy, and piping hot. I was able to watch the chef prepare it as I sat and waited with my coffee and that croissant that I want to leave my husband for. This was not the traditional American omelet stuffed to overflowing without any taste. Organic eggs really do make a difference. The potatoes were tasty, a bit too much grease in my opinion, but seasoned nicely with Herbs de Provence. I left most of the potatoes. I ate a bite of toast, after that croissant who needed more carbs? The toast was dense and crusty which suits me just fine. I’d love to take a loaf home. I was able to eat my entire meal for less than $ 15. This price might sound a bit high in comparison, but I’m taking into account that it is an organic bakery and in a Tony location. Over all, the value for the dollar is worth the experience. I guess I’m glad that Frog’s is on the other side of the world from me. I’d happily eat there every morning and watch my waist disappear under a blanket of croissant crumbs.

Ok, let be break it down for you. When I was younger, I thought a macaroon was an overly sweet, coconut-packed treat that came out of a cardboard canister, eaten only once a year, made by Manischewitz. While on one level that might be true, they are SOMUCHMORE, and I thank Frogs for teaching me that. Apparently, in France, a macaroon is an almond flour cookie on either side of sweet vanilla pastry cream. Wow! Were these better than what I had growing up? Yes they were! Rich in flavor, not overly sweet, soft cookies, creamy vanilla filling– Y-U-M. Frogs also stocks other well know French pastries, all of them artfully arranged in their cases. I haven’t had lunch their yet, but I’m excited to do so, it always smells amazing when I’m there! Know Before You Go: Their story is pretty amazing. Ask them about it when you’re there! Their passion is potent, and after a visit you’ll understand that they love what they do!

A French style café in Tucson? What delicious madness is this?! It is a work of(food) art by chef Jean Luc Labat. I mean, what’s not to love about an organic bakery with a decidedly French influence?! I had seen their giant sign while driving down the road a few times, and was curious to know what a place called«Frogs» had to offer. Then, when deciding where to go for lunch today, I noticed they had a Unilocal offer for free cookies for all the Unilocalers who check in. Well, that was just the bribery… I mean reminder I needed! As soon as I walked into Frog Organic Bakery, I knew I was in for a treat. The style of this place screams French café or coffee house, but with a noticeable Tucson twist. The ambience is definitely tranquil, pleasant, and relaxing. I am already conspiring towards my next escape back there. The fresh baked goods sitting behind the counter demand my attention, and their friendly staff seems more than willing to assist with that. The service here is quite quick, and the staff really gives you the impression that they care about your opinion and dining experience. Their prices are affordable, despite being in a notably more expensive shopping center. Their mission is great food, made from local and sustainable sources. But the real stand out of Frogs has got to be their food! I’ve only been here once at the time of this review, but both of the entrees my guest and I ordered were really superb. Every morsel of food delivered explosions of light and delectable tastes to my eagerly waiting mouth. This was the best quiche I’ve had since I was in Paris! The guacamole-shrimp tartine is such a delicious and interesting blend of Tucson food with French traditions. And the pesto pizza tastes like equal parts quiche, pizza, and amazing. Long story short, you have got to try their food to believe it.

After craving some good French food for weeks, and making several failed attempts to eat at Frogs(terrible hours), the stars finally aligned and I was able to stop by with a few friends. I walked in knowing exactly what I wanted — a croque monsieur. These inside-out grilled cheese sandwiches are hard to find here in the states. I was also determined to try one of Frogs’ much-vaunted pastries. Frogs closed that day at 5PM. I arrived at 3PM with an empty belly and a lot of anticipation. Walking in, I was glad to see the Paradise Bakery atmosphere gone. Frogs has a really nice ambiance and very attractive décor. It looked and felt like somewhere I wanted to be. I wouldn’t characterize the atmosphere as French per se, but it was homey, warm, and clean. Menus on the wall(similar to Sauce) listed all of the offerings, however I already knew what I wanted: that unattainable croque monsieur. We walked up to the register and ordered from a very bored cashier. «A croque monsieur and a nutella brioche please!» She then informed us that they were not serving hot food. No hot food at all. Didn’t we know? I thought this was unacceptable. After trying to make it during the restrictive hours for weeks, I finally stopped in and was not able to order what I wanted. Plus, it was 3PM, two hours before closing! Who does that? So, we all ended up getting soup and salad since those were our only choices. My companions got tomato soup that had some sort of macaroni in it. I’ve never had blander soup, even out of a can. They ended up dumping in large quantities of salt to make it more exciting. I had the mozzarella tomato salad, which was kind of a mystery. The tomatos were limp and wet and there was just too much green stuff in the bowl, and not enough pesto. The mozzarella was good and I would have happily just eaten a bowl of that by itself. Something to be aware of — Frogs does not serve Coca-Cola or typical beverages. You have a choice of coffee, alcohol, or bottled beverages. I’m not a fan of this policy, since drinking Diet Coke with my meal is half the fun. I would have like a Pellegrino instead, but Frogs only offered the sugary, flavored varieties. We also ordered a nutella brioche, which looked appetizing sitting on the rack of pastries. It was good(its Nutella, how could it be bad?) but nothing special. I’m going to get flamed for saying this, but AJ’s in the foothills makes better pastries IMHO. Overall, Frogs was a letdown. I wouldn’t recommend it. Not only is it expensive, the food is disappointing, and the hours and policies are tremendously frustrating. I gave one star for ambiance, and a very generous extra star for the restaurant’s focus on organic, sustainable, and gluten free food. If you find out where I can *actually* get a croque monsieur in town, let me know. I’ve given up!

Decided to go to Frogs after picking a friend this morning who was hungry for breakfast. I didn’t expect to much from this place after reading some of the reviews. We walked in and saw that the Menu was on the wall, but it was little confusing I had to stare at it for a few minutes before walking and standing in line. I had ordered the sticky bun and scrambled eggs and side of potatoes. All I can say is WOW! The potatoes were soo good I don’t even know what kind of seasoning they used that’s how good they were. Being half Asian I wanted to bust out some steamed rice and ketchup! LOL! The Sticky bun was AMAZING!!! Crunchy and sweet! I will definitely have to try other things there!

Stopped in here for a quick snack after a hike. I wanted to try the blueberry scones but they were all gone. A poppyseed muffin and banana-nut muffin went with me instead. Both were delicious. No paper wrapped around them and they were huge. I look forward to trying lunch there on my next visit. There were sure a lot of folks eating inside and out on this busy Saturday.
