First time, wife and I. Me… Three piece cod. Wifey… Two piece cod. Nice! With a Dad’s Old Fashioned Cream soda it went down just right. Really good fish. Good size dinner crowd. Fast service. I left pretty satisfied. I’ll try the shrimp next trip.

My first time there was my last sorry. If you want fish that I had here go buy the store bought version’s of van di camps. fillets were soggy and rubbery. The«chips» also were nasty. We ordered the hushpuppies and after eating 1 I spit out the dough. It was undercooked. My neighbor had recommended this place after all she’s an elderly lady with taste buds gone :) I’ll stick to McDonald’s fish sanDwich and fries. If you’re ever in the Phoenix area look up Pete’s fish n chips. They have the best for a fnc joint… take cash though they don’t take plastic.

Not sure if not suitable for delivery, or just not suitable for eating. The fish was super soggy on the outside and super dry on the inside. The chicken tenders seemed like frozen Tyson tenders and were really dry as well. The fries and hush puppies were great, would have been nice if they had given me any tartar sauce, ketchup, or malt vinegar. Not sure if they don;t have these things, or they just didn’t think I should have them despite my request. Would have been only one star for the protein and the lack of condiments, but the fries and puppies bumped it up, as they themselves were five stars

YUM! I dislike that I liked this place so much ;) Fried everything goodness and after reading the reviews we lucked out on the chicken because it was juicy and not at all dry like others have mentioned. We ordered take out for a late lunch and tried the chicken and shrimp and both were cooked perfectly and not a bit overdone. The batter is underwhelming but some hot sauce and ranch took care of that. Hush puppies were ok and fries were meh but I can live without those. The place was pretty non stop while we were there picking up our food and with their second location soon to open that has to be a good sign. Good job Crispy’s!

YUMMM~ This little casual restaurant is what you expect it to be. Small with a handful of tables where the workers hand you your food Styrofoam plates and plastic trays. The smell of the deep fryer fills the room, but don’t be concerned everything looked extremely clean when I came in. I came here with a friend and we shared the 4 piece cod fish and fries combo with 3 shrimp tacos. You can ask them for tar tar sauce, otherwise there is an assortment of salsas on the counter you can choose from(tapatio, sriracha, random bottles from the grocery stores). I was a little disappointed that they didn’t have the little containers of red and green salsa. The cod fillets were pretty good. They were fried perfectly, crispy on the outside and not overcooked on the inside. But the taste was just okay. Fries are always delicious when fried perfectly. But the best part of the meal was the shrimp tacos. Taste, crisp, and size were perfect! I would definitely come back to get more shrimp tacos and probably try their fish tacos instead of their fish and chips. If you’re looking for that perfect fried food for a reasonable cost, this is it. Environment: 3⁄5 Food: 4⁄5 Price: 4⁄5 Service: 3⁄5

Divey place north of downtown with excellent food, clean and best fish n chips. crispy’s is a small place with indoor and outdoor seating. I’m a fan now. Everything is fried, with cod, chicken, shrimp, wings and the fish tacos are all breaded sufficiently, but not overdone. The fish was flakesy and moist. Fry basket came with a onion ring and a hush puppy. Drinks are cans with Dad’s, bubble up, squirter, Canada dry, Dr Pepper and coke. ice tea in cups, sweet and unsweetened. friendly staff. tartar sauce, ketchup and vinegar although the ketchup tasted watery. Bathrooms needed attention, but very clean in rest. I’ll check again and hopefully I can give a 5 star.

Crispies is excellent. I don’t know why some people would be surprised by the location or smell– it’s cheap fish ‘n chips. It smells like fry oil and fish, silly! I’ve worked in quite a few restaurants, and this one is CLEAN. The fixtures and such may be old, but they are obviously cared for. The shrimp was perfectly crispy and not over cooked. The cod was a generous portion, and perfectly fried. Well done, guys.

Just like that… they’ve changed the fillets to some so so stuff. I was in shock and hope its some supply issue and they bring back what they had, literally just the other day. UGH! Great shrimp though still and the chips and hush puppies remain great!

Crispy’s is the dive we usually visit for fish and chips. I would give it a 5 but they really do need to focus on cleanliness and food delivery. It needs a good cleanliness and sometimes food takes longer than it should. Other than that, everything we have tried has been very good. This time we ordered the combo appetizer platter that had deep fried pickles, deep fried macaroni and cheese, onion rings, deep fried zucchini and hush puppies for $ 5.99. I believe there are four of each. We also ordered the number 4 which had two chicken strips, two fish strips, and two deep fried shrimp with fries. Our total bill was under $ 20 and the two of us could not eat it all. We never have any complaints about the food.

We found this place by googling places that make fish and chips and decided to try it! Very fresh tasting fish and the fries were very tasty… It was very apparent they used different oil to fry the fish and the fries. We also got the fried zucchini, which was very good. The only problems we had was that we didn’t get tarter sauce and there was too much food. When I asked how big the order for zucchini was, the cashier stated there would be only 10 pieces and when we opened the order there was double that. The only problem with the bigger order was in the end it ended up getting thrown out because we couldn’t eat it all! Definitely recommended by the family from Alaska!

I came here on a friend’s recommendation. The location is right on the road’s edge so if you eat outside, you will be entertained by all the local traffic. When I first walked in I was met with a smell that seemed to come either from the fish or the oil. That smell alone would prevent me from eating inside. Maybe a better ventilation system is needed? We ordered up our order and ate outside. First off, I loved those hush puppies. But the fries were lacking in taste and the shrimp were large in size but tasted like they had been cooked in old oil. I was a bit disappointed in the overall meal. The staff was very friendly and many customers were coming in to order their lunch.

My wife and I knew about this place because of the prior taco joint that had popped up and disappeared in what felt like a matter of days, so we were really suspect about the quality of this«new» restaurant. I wanted to sample both the chicken and fish, as those would be good contrasts in regards to if I’d return, my wife in turn had shrimp. The price was comparable to similar establishments, so no complaints there, and the wait was well worth what came out of the kitchen. From the first bite, I knew we had made the right choice. The breading had just the right consistency, and made for a proper crunch without overpowering the meat. Both proteins were cooked to perfection, neither was over cooked or underdone. The hush puppies that were included were very good, and were cooked just right. In regards to the sauces included, I usually don’t drown my food in extras, so the included tartar sauce, lemon slices, and ketchup was all In needed. Although I might use one of their several hot sauces available if I try the fried wings. All in all, I would return here if i’m near by again. I love a place that takes a simple concept and does it right, and also, who doesn’t love a good plate of fish and chips?

Crispy’s was a pleasant surprise. I am a big fan of fish and chips and this is the best I have found so far in the area. This place is nothing fancy at all. The dining furniture consists of plastic picnic table/benches all in ones. The menu is very basic and they have fish, chicken, wings, and shrimp. The sides are fries, coleslaw, and potato salad and a few others. The drinks are all canned sodas. When we arrived most of the tables were occupied with people waiting for to go orders and was fairly busy. Busy usually means good and with the prior reviews we had high hopes. We were not disappointed. I went with the four piece cod combo that had fish, fries, coleslaw, and a canned soda. My wife went with the three piece chicken combo. We split an order of hush puppies that was served in a basket that had several in it(largest portion we have ever seen). The food is cooked to order so it tastes fresh. Even the fries were a winner here. It might take a little bit longer but it’s worth the wait. As I watched my food prepared I could see they were doing a little extra in the preparation of it and they were taking pride in what they were doing. The cost was 20 bucks for two and we were full, satisfied, and totally enjoyed our meal. The owner took the time to ask us how we liked it. I would rate this as the second best fish and chips I have had in the state of Arizona and the best in Tucson.
We will eat here again. As the saying goes don’t judge a book by its cover. Well don’t go here looking for a fine dining restaurant. The food is really good and if you want a great tasting fish and chips this is the place!

So I decided to go check this place out on my lunch break absolutely a great choice! I probably should have called ahead because I was pressed for time during my lunch but it was worth the wait you could see the cook preparing the food and he took his time to make it right. Crispy and not over cooked I tried the fish and shrimp tacos both were great I will definitely be back.

True to the name it is nice and crispy fish, very nice and flaky handful of labor we opted to try both the cod and the shrimp and we are very pleased with both of our selections. One thing that I might add is if you’re in a rush you might want to try ordering your food prior to getting here because it does take a while because everything is cooked fresh and made to order in the store and nothing seems to be pre packaged. It would be nice if they had found like to have ice in my drinks but they do offer a variety of canned drinks & I was pleased to see my favorite Arizona Green tea :) I would’ve given five stars if those minor things like ice & speed didn’t matter but to me they do also they may want to invest in bee removal as the outer eating area & inside was swarming with several bees! I will be coming back since the food was super tasty & i must try the shrimp tacos they look delicious

I’ve been jonesing for some hush puppies and seeing this new fish and chips joint I sailed on over. The hush puppies were great! And six for $ 1.99 you can’t go wrong. They were crisp on the outside and moist on the inside. However, they are not on any printed menu and I asked specifically for them based on other reviews. They are not made in house either– straight from a freezer bag, but that does not bother me. Sadly, besides the hush puppies and low prices that was all that was enjoyable. For $ 5.99 you get a five piece chicken finger combo, which includes a drink(canned) and fries. Visually, the chicken looked great and the pieces were huge. It was actually white meat from the tenderloin and not processed. Unfortunately, the chicken was overcooked and dry inside. It was so dry that chicken was almost hard. The batter was lacking in flavor. They do use a wet batter and not a dry batter. The batter to chicken ratio was off. When you order chicken fingers, I expect a selection of sauces. They did not offer any choices but served it with two cups of ketchup. They could have saved money, as I do not eat ketchup. They did have a nice selection of hot sauces on the counter. But with my chips I love me some malt vinegar. Reminds me of my youth, devouring some LJS. I had to ask for some and they served it to me in a plastic cup out of a gallon jug. I feel they should have some vinegar out for the customers. I would have also appreciated some cocktail sauce. Come on, at least a barbecue or America’s favorite ranch. The fries were thick, not steak fry thick but a far cry from my favorite shoestring. They could have been crispier, but that’s just me. They are new and business seemed good… hopefully they work out the kinks. It is an open aired kitchen manned on this day by two cooks and a cashier. Seating is tight and you may be sharing a picnic bench with some locals.

A brand new fish and chips shop opened where Dagwood’s used to be! We tried a 4-piece cod combo and 8 wings. The fish was juicy and tender and perfectly cooked; I think the fryer might not have been turned up high enough because the breading wasn’t too crispy. Wings were basic but good. Fries were perfect. Food comes with ample sauces: 2 cups of ketchup for the wings, 3 tartars and 5 lemon wedges for the fish(finally! someone who gives you enough lemon!), and 2 ranch dressings plus a big tub of hot sauce for the wings. The combo also comes with a drink from the cooler – we had a Squirt. They were not equipped to give me a cup of water when I asked, though eventually, when I forced they issue, they gave me some tap water in a styrofoam takeaway tub. The kitchen is wide open, so you can see the cook, who is also the owner, working the grill and assembling the meals. Good potential. We’ll be willing to come back again.

This is a brand new place. As of this writing, he has been open about 10 days. It is located across the street from Food City on Ft. Lowell and is in the location where Daggwood’s was. What caught my eye was the«Wednesdays $ 1.50 Fish Tacos» sign. There’s another sign that says«Tuesdays 59¢ Wings.» I had the fish & chips combo which came with two pieces of fish, generous portion of what I call«diner» fries, a small side of cole slaw, three hush puppies, and ketchup and two containers of tarter sauce. These are the best hush puppies I’ve ever had. I say that because I never eat hush puppies, never liked them. These were actually good. Savory and not doughy dense. I believe that the cole slaw and tarter sauce was home made. The cole slaw was actually decent and the tarter sauce was not overwhelming. The fries were good. And a can of pop was included. A great deal for only $ 5.99! The fish was excellent. Please check out my pictures. They were THICK and flaky fresh. Cod that is not fresh or cod that is overcooked will not be flaky. These were flaky and were nicely juicy. The breading was just right, too. Did I mention that these were THICK?!! I think that they were easily thicker than twice what you would get from Long John Silvers. Easily. I am stuffed. I should not have also tried a fish taco. The fish taco was not autentico. But it was decent. It had the same fresh cod, the batter was a little thicker, and was topped with pico de gallo. It came with lemon slices instead of lime and also a container of mystery sauce. The sauce was a slight tan-colored, watery mix of some sort of spice that I couldn’t place. The flavor was weak. I did not put it on my taco. These tacos are no Taco Fish tacos(see my review for them), but they are not the worst I’ve had. I wouldn’t order them again. Even at the Wednesday $ 1.50 price, I would still go to Taco Fish and get one taco for $ 2.50 and make two tacos, since that’s what we do all the time because their portions are large. They also serve chicken wings, chicken strips, shrimp, and Tilapia. I have a picture of their menu, so check that out, too. I hope this place makes it. It really was an excellent value for good food.
