I am really surprised at the negative reviews that I’ve seen on Unilocal for this restaurant. I went there for the first time last Saturday to meet a friend, and I ordered a cheese and bacon omelette, home fries, toast and prickly pear jelly. Everything was hot and tasty(well, the jelly wasn’t hot, but you get my drift). We ended up staying there for over 4 hours(!) and our server couldn’t have been more hospitable. We got 3 coffee refills, plus water refills that we didn’t even request. I have to assume that our server thought that after 3 hours of chatting, we must have been parched(we were). I will definitely return. They were busy, but never over-crowded, since a lot of people seemed to opt for the covered patio. If you are looking for friendly, laid-back service in a comfortable atmosphere, with food that is thoughfully prepared, you should give this place a shot.

This place was absolutely wonderful. My husband and I hiked in Saguaro National Park for his birthday, and this place caught our eye. Everything was wonderful and the restaurant was the start of our obsession with prickly pear lemonade! The Indian Tacos are awesome and remind me of being home in Montana. Our wonderful server was attentive and sweet, when she found out it was my husband’s birthday she gave him a mini-apple pie.

We walked in at 11:30 am. It was busy but at least 6 to 8 empty tables. We were told they would be right with us. We waited 10 minutes than we were asked for our name as the kitchen was getting slammed and it would be awhile. Really? There was six people waiting behind us. We left along with another couple. The staff didnt seem to care. This was our first and last visit. We went to the Mexican restaurant down the road which has excellent food and service.

Was here on a family visit for breakfast and lunch. Food was ok but service was VERY slow. The wait staff seemed unorganized and confused. Had to get our own water and straw. Would not have come back but the only other option was McDonalds

Went in today for an early lunch with my mother-in-law. We were seated on the Patio with about 4 other parties. Immediately ordered lemonade… then waited… and waited… and waited… at least 10 – 15 minutes. Still didn’t have our drinks, so we walked out. My mother-in-law told a waitress we were leaving and all she said was«ok, thank you». As we walked out my mother-in-law told me that they are always very slow and that’s why the don’t go there any more.

What a lovely place to enjoy a meal. First, the staff has always been exactly what one would want when eating out. Darlene in particular is just perfect. The biscuits and gravy are delicious. I’ve ordered the avocado tacos entirely too often. That said, when I have veered from my favorite choices, I have never been disappointed. For the most part, the wait for food arrival has been around 20 minutes with the majority of times that we have been here. However if it does seem to be busy, just walk around outside and browse the shops(and let your significant other stay at the table for you, or notify the waitress that you’ll be stepping outside briefly.) My son loves running around the paths on the property(which has stunning views by the way) as we wait for our food to arrive. I have yet to experience anything other than delightful café excellence on this restaurant’s part.

Signed up for Unilocal just to tell people this place is garbage the food subpar sat at the window for 10 minutes before it came to the table was charged $ 14 for a 2 egg omelette since they don’t tell you each thing extra is $ 2 and I only added 3 things the toast was wrong hashbrowns were cold the jelly had no flavor no smell will never go back to this place if you still go be ready to be over charged and disappointed

Food is pretty good and seems fresh and homemade. Service is often iffy, however, and kitchen can be slow. Don’t plan on a lunch ‘hour’. Maybe not an issue at Tucson Estates retirement community!

Just had dinner with the fam here because my wife had breakfast with her mom this morning and raved about it. I certainly wasn’t disappointed! Let’s start with the warmth and hospitality. The entire staff was very accommodating to both of our boys(6 years &17 month) and though they didn’t have a kids menu, the staff was happy to whip up some chicken strips and even brought animal crackers. The quality of the food is matched by the creativity. My wife had the avocado tacos(fried avocado in corn tortilla with fixings) and I had the«coyote burger»(coyote in name only), topped with prickly pair jam, an onion ring and bacon. We were not disappointed and we will definitely be back!

My wife and I stopped here for breakfast on my birthday before starting some early hiking at Saguaro. The staff here is incredibly kind and welcoming plus our orders were delicious! We were both especially fond of the prickly pear lemonade. Will be stopping there every time we are in the area for SURE! Thanks so much, guys. Can’t wait to come back. –Rob & Ruth.

Slow service but good food, nothing fancy. I tried the hash and it was good but the waitress forgot about us a few times.

You can get huevos rancheros on Indian fry bread. What’s not to love? While the space isn’t picturesque, it is a big step up from a diner and the food is good. A long diverse menu including Mexican and Western influences. Strengths are breakfast and burgers, but I’ve even had some good catfish here. The lack of any meaningful competition for several miles in any direction definitely gives Coyote Pause a leg up. But it is a worthy breakfast destination in its own right, particularly if you are headed to enjoy attractions on the west side of Gates Pass. Bonus option are the adjacent stores of art, jewelry and western kitsch!

A must when in Tucson, especially if you are headed out to the AZ-Sonora Desert Museum. Had the Avocado Fish Tacos today and I will have them again! :) The fries my hubby had with his Patty Melt had the perfect crunch to them(just like I like ‘em). Very busy on Sunday’s, so, bring your appetite and relax. It is worth the drive and possible wait on the weekends.

We were pleasantly surprised to discover this little gem. My husband had the special meatloaf sandwich which he loved. I had the fish tacos with fried avocado and refried beans. The fish taco was a bit bland but was able to spice it up with hot sauce. The prickly pear sangria was refreshing and tasty. Café is decorated in a kitchy southwest décor. Casual dress, southwest decorations of art and southwest memorabilia. Wait staff very friendly, responsive and professional. Kitchen was a bit slow but worth the wait. Enjoyed our visit and meal. would come again.

I gave this place a 1 star because I did not have a choice of zero. The service was slow and my breakfast(coyote hash) was terrible. The hash consisted of luke warm potatoes with a piece of wadded up fat that may have been corn beef. I have not been to this place previously and will not return.

In one sitting I worked through about 3 different breakfasts all were awesome. I was a little disappointed in the coyote hash, but the French toast, Benedict pizza, and huevos rancheros were spectacular.

I have found a new lunch and breakfast spot and it on my side of town! This lovely quaint southwestern place is A+ in my book! First everyone is super nice and welcoming. The colors and the paintings are amazing. Perfect spot for out of towers to get the Tucson feel. They have inside and patio seating. Oh and the burgers are delicious! Closest thing to home cooked burgers I have had in a long time! Fajita quesadillas are super yummy too! They offer sweet potato fries, French fries and mesquite fries(those are delish). They also have this broccoli cheese and beer soup that was a party favorite! And they have homemade desserts!

This little out –of– the– way place was recommended to us, so we decided to see another side of Tucson… out towards the Old Tucson filming area… anyway, busy little place with only a couple of waitresses. Nice to have gluten-free toast with my veggie omelet… that was supposed to be a two egg omelet… that seemed a bit anemic. Mesquite pancakes were enjoyed by my friend, but we are spoiled and always wanting real maple syrup and that syrup was not… so do pay the extra for the real syrup… plenty of pecans in the pancakes. Coffee okay. All food was hot. Service was okay considering all the young lady had to do, so we got their Internet password and caught up on the news. Forgot to check out their patio.

Good everything. good food… good service… good portions… good prices… good people and good location for us. Blueberry pancakes for me. Steak quesadilla with 2 kinds of cheese for son-in-law. Croissant breakfast sandwich for daughter with a HUGE bowl of fresh fruit. Funky, sweet and friendly vibe. We will return only next time I’m ordering the Croissant breakfast sandwich and fruit because it looked so yummy.

The drive here was beautiful. Food was good. We had blueberry pancakes, coyote hash, mini breakfast and a burger. Oh yeah Indian fry bread and a Reuben sandwich. My son was hungry! Service was fine, the waitress was nice. Only thing that could’ve been better was thicker slices of corned beef. I would go again.
