Consistently excellent food. I have been here many times and all but one were perfection.

Absolutely delicious Carne Asada street tacos I had here just not too long ago! So when you enter this establishment, the restaurant charmingly painted the menu on the walls(laminated menus also available). They offer a variety of Mexican food items ranging from tacos, tamales, enchiladas and more. You order at the front and can grab a beer with your meal too. They have a salsa bar around the corner and a full bar in the back. The salsa bar is great… I loved the green salsa! Not spicy at all but it’s delicious. A creamy avocado one. So the tacos were larger than I expected and we’re packed with meat, onions and cilantro… just the way I like it! Squeezed some lime and added the green salsa… it was heavenly. I ate all 3 tacos because I clearly have no self dignity. I accept that, especially for these tacos. I will also add that the food came out extremely quickly. I went to the salsa bar to grab my salsa, and the food was already out. Love this place and will be back for more!

Fresh Mexican food and a really cool vibe. The back bar is awesome for some drinks and to watch a game. It’s a bit crowded during game time, so get there early!

We were on our way from Ramsey Canyon to Chandler and always want authentic Mexican in Tucson and this place filled the bill! Loved the photographic mural and décor! Modern and authentic! The food was muy excelente! We had a delicious meal! Mine was the street tacos with carnitas with corn tortillas and they were as good as I ever had. I got 3 but could only eat 2. I had a side of Spanish rice that was also very good but could barely eat a quarter of it. Chips and salsa were good too. My husband had mini chimis with barbacoa. While he did not like the cheese, he still liked the chimis. There were six that were not huge like most chimis, but they were so big that he could only eat 3 of the 6! We shared a Caesar salad that was pretty good. So, we’ve got enough left over to take home! We’ll definitely go back.

This place was reasonably good. The ambiance is nice. Price was reasonable(though maybe a bit high for the portions) and the BEST chips and salsa in town… though I was kind of surprised the chips weren’t included. Doesn’t take away from the delicious salsa bar though. Had the sonoran dog and the manchego street quesadillas. My buddy had the street tacos. The sonoran dog was good, just wish the bun was toasted a little better so it didnt fall apart so easily. It had a good char on the dog itself though, really good. The quesadilla was kinda greasy but fairly good. Good amount of meat and cheese. My buddy liked the tacos(chile verde) but said they were only slightly above average. He also had a tamale that he didnt care for. Said it was fairly bland. Overall, slightly above average, mainly because of the salsa, which I will be writing home to mom about. Next time I might just load up on that.

Ok, so I have never had fresh corn tortillas, at least to my knowledge. I think I would have known because the way the corn tortillas tasted yesterday literally opened my buds to a whole new world. The tortillas were so good, in fact, I would have ate them plain without anything on them, not even salsa. I like how they have it set up. There’s a big mural with the ordering options written out. Once you’ve decided you go to the counter and place your order. I opted for two tacos. One was the chicken abodaba and the other was the barbacoa. The chicken was cut up in little chunks and it was smothered in red sauce. To be honest I didn’t think it had much flavor. It was okay but nothing I’d order again. Where they hit a home run was with the barbacoa. The meat was juicy, tender, moist, flavorful and I seriously wanted to eat a whole pot of it. That meat held together by their corn tortilla was one awesome taco! I love the place and I’ll become a regular. Next time I want to sit in the back where the bar is. It was hopping back there! They also have outdoor seating but it’s literally in the parking lot so it is kind of lacking. But they make the most of their strip mall situation. Also a shout to the staff. The girl behind the counter was patient with us, as it was our first time. She handled all of our questions with ease. Go. Eat. Tacos. The End.

Originally from San Francisco and coming to Tucson, I have been highly disappointed in burrito options here. I want flavor! Which most places just don’t have! Until now… This is our go to quick, cheap dinner spot. I love their salsa bar, quite a few of really good salsas. The orange one is probably my fav. I believe the first time here, I got fajitas. Which were really good, but not ideal for food on the go… So I got a chicken burrito. The chicken was sooooo dry, awful… But with the orange salsa, I could eat it. Next time I tried the adobo?(Need to check if that’s the correct name) chicken, and I really couldn’t tell you if I liked it or not. First bite yes, second bite no, third bite yes… It’s very different, has such a strong flavor, doesn’t really go well with orange salsa… I’d probably order it again… But as of now, I just want carnitas! Soooo flavorful. Seriously one of the best burritos, and with the salsa. Perfect. Now, it is frustrating… I’ve ordered it several times and each time it comes different. Sometimes just rice and meat, sometimes sour cream, guacamole… It’s always different. But I’ll still go back, because it’s still good. And I like they have hot dogs, so when my kid is whining about not wanting Mexican, we can both be happy.

We REALLY enjoyed Calle Tepa and will return again next time we’re in Tuscon, AZ. The location is in a nice strip mall with other upscale shops around. The hostesses we very friendly and helpful. I had a cheese quesadilla and an order of crisp, fresh ceviche. My husband ordered the green chili pork enchilada with beans and rice. The chips were fresh and light. We both agree it was the best food we’ve had in a very long time.

Solid 4.5 stars. Wonderful Mexican food. I would go back for more, for sure. The food is good and comes out quick. I was in town for work and wanted to try some of the local cuisine. One of the people I met suggested this place and I gave it a try for lunch. After reading some of the reviews I ordered the Carne asada torta, and it was amazing. The meat had so much flavor in it and the guacamole, onion, cilantro gave it such a fresh flavor that believe me, I wanted to have two. They also have an awesome salsa bar, which has many different varieties of salsa that you can have as much as you want. I got chips to have with it and the variety of salsa was amazing. Salsa verde and roasted red salsa were my favorites. The ambience is very traditional and one of the things that hits you when you enter is the full wall mural. It is so lifelike that you actually wonder looking at it. Overall, a good place where you should stop for a bite of you are in town.

Fresh, tasty, reasonably priced. Nothing that blows my away, but I would totally go back. We had the carne asada torte, and the mahi mahi bowl. We both finished our large portions and enjoyed the salsa bar with our order of chips. Service was quick and friendly. Nice spot across the street from the mall.

Recently had lunch here. I had the ceviche which was very refreshing. I also had a cup of tortilla soup. It was tasty and a very large serving. Their sangria was pretty good — not too sweet. The salsa bar had a lot to offer too. From garlic habenero, roasted tomato, and more. My husband had the Sonoran dog it was probably the best thing we had. His fish taco was average. The staff was very nice.

Amazing torta! It’s been about 10 days since I visited Calle Tepa, and the thought of the torta with carne asada still makes me drool…(I know it is gross but my salivary glands are completely involuntary.) The combination of sweet bread, Carne asada, covered in hot salsa simply tingles all my palate sensations. In addition to the awesome torta, I was very pleased when I saw the salsa bar. I’m a bonafide salsaholic; I will drink hot salsa as if it is water after running a marathon(so… there is a certain level of exaggeration here as I’ve never even thought about running a marathon… but you get the picture.). I didn’t see any roasted jalapeños on the salsa bar but I’m happy to be buzzing around sampling different salsa ! I also liked that the kitchen and the chefs are clearly visible and I can watch them make my food! A good find!!!

I came hungry and wanting chicken fajitas. Well looking at the menu I quickly changed my mind and had the surf and turf instead. Steak and shrimp. You order at the counter they give you a number and bring it out to you. As I waited I helped myself to the salsa bar. They had chopped up cucumbers which I love. My food came out soon enough. It probably had less beans and rice than I thought it would have but they did go heavy on the onions, bell peppers. I really did like that. The tortillas were home made as well! I didn’t think the flavor of the actual fajitas was that great and they were a bit tough. I’m only here visiting for a short while so I might not be back. But if I did I would try another item on the menu. I saw they had breakfast and I am very tempted of trying again tomorrow morning. But my hotel has free breakfast and at least that way I don’t get tempted and over eat!

I’m so sad to be moving back east soon and I am just experiencing this place now!!! It was hands down amazing. I had a cabacita veggie taco for 2.99 with rice and beans 1.49 and a tecate light for 3.00. Good deal and super fresh. It came out very fast and the open kitchen was clean. Great ambiance too!

Exactly what I want when I want tacos and a roof over me so that they can be accompanied by a margarita. Especially if that ceiling boasts hanging tin stars in a happy constellation over my tacos. Street style is definitely the way to go, with cabbage and crema. Shrimp, mahi, and a host of other meaty inclusions, as well as green chile, can top your tortilla. Of the veggie tacos(which are not offered this way), the fajita is my favorite — crispy onion and peppers with some tooth, mushrooms, layered with pico and lettuce and cheese. Oh, and there’s Sonoran dogs. Of course. The«guaco taco» was absolutely brimming with guac, and therefore obscenely messy. I appreciate the generosity, but I’m not sure I can endorse the execution. Get it with chips instead. Speaking of generous, the bowls are hearty and cups are huge. The salsa bar has smoky and sweet or tangy and piquant or vegetal and smooth. I hang out with spice wimps a lot of the time so none of the options we’ve had have been hot but you’ll have to investigate yourself. A fine casual option with a bright and cheerful atmosphere. Truck tacos can’t top that.

HAPPYHOUR3−6pm! unfortunately the frozen mango margarita wasn’t on happy hour pricing but it was stronger and worth the splurg! they have 2 types of tacos, street tacos which are pretty much just meat, onions, & cilantro and tepa tacos which have cheese sprinkled on top —Frozen mango marg: i love frozen margs, need i say more —Barbacoa(shredded beef) taco: way better than the dry chicken adobada taco! —Chips were 99 cents a basket but there’s a self serve salsa bar! i liked the chipotle and salsa verde a good time when you’re going with a group!
