Caffe Luce

Was a bit confused when I entered on where to order (my fault I didn’t read the sign). Friendly and fast service! I ordered a black coffee of the day, really good flavor and $ 1.75 for a medium. It beats Starbucks prices and the drip coffee was just as good. This place has a loyal fan base, the barista knew the drink orders by heart for both the person in front if me and behind. Impressive!

First time I was at this place it was busy and very unclear to me where to order my drink, pay, etc…, and it was do different this time that I am thrilled. Easy ordering of coffees and mochas… no craziness…, quick service and we loved all drinks. Thank goodness as I can be in this area often!

A great coffee shop!
Wife, sister, and I stopped in for a to go order. Fast, friendly service. When I talked to the gentleman who rang me up he was knowledgeable about the sourcing of the beans for both the drip and the espresso. My americano was hot, had a great crème, and was delicious.

This is one of the hidden gems of coffee establishments and worth a visit.
Caffe Luce is nestled between Acacia Animal Hospital and a new Mexican restaurant. I suspect they roast their own coffee, but I am not 100 percent sure. It boasts a very contemporary /​artisan décor with plenty of seating inside and outside. While it was certainly busy this cold morning, it was pleasantly quiet.
The barista took my order today and was very friendly and efficient. I ordered a nonfat cappuccino and am still savoring its perfection as I type. This barista knows her craft well and was able to find the essential balance between silky, rich foam and deep, flavorful espresso. She even created a nice leaf pattern on top. It was a shame to cover it with my to-​go lid.
I also treated myself to a ‘morning glory’ muffin bursting with carrot, raisin, walnut, and a comforting molasses flavor. The muffin was well constructed and didn’t crumble excessively. Overall, moist, delicious, and it hit the spot.
The price is reasonable in my opinion, $ 5.75 total. Expect to pay that much or more at Starbucks, minus the craft and stellar customer service.

Enjoyed it! Many coffees available from strong to mild. Liked the fact they warm the cup with hot water before pouring the coffee. Nice detail! Free wifi. Nice. Did not notice «snack» collection. Had bagels and a few other things. Seemed weak there. Had a cappuccino. Very nice!

Cappuccinos and lattes here are seriously the most amazing thing in a cup. I stop here all the time when im on this side of town! Excellente!

A hidden gem! I think most people pass this coffee shop daily on their commutes and don’t even notice it tucked behind the Trader Joe’s…which is too bad as it is AWESOME — for both quickly picking up a latte on the run (there is parking directly in front, so you are in/​out in less than 5 minutes), sitting to get work done, or meeting friends. The coffee is delicious and the atmosphere is very friendly… and unlike the Luce by campus, they maintain their store hours and don’t close early on a whim! The baristas are kind and welcoming, and answered all of my questions concerning ingredients with patience and grace. (I have a wicked peanut allergy). The building is immaculately clean, and the windows face the mountains for a beautiful view. Great latte. Great place!

I come in here almost every day. The staff is friendly, the bagels are the best, and the atmosphere is clean and calm.
Ignore Kris D’s review below. I was in the restaurant when I saw her throw a fit over cream cheese. It was pretty pathetic. A grown ass doesn’t make the grown ass woman.

So I went in this morning to buy a bagel with cream cheese as I’m putting the cream cheese on there’s only enough for one side of the bagel, so I tell my cashier this and she’se says no that’s the correct serving, but I tell her it’s only enough for one side of the bagel she says no that’s the correct serving size its $ 0.50 more for an extra one I told her how can you sell a bagel and one package of cream cheese that barely covers one side and she tells me you have to pay an extra $ 0.50 for the other packet of cream cheese. Are you kidding me? I told her I won’t be back and she burnt the bagel so I have burnt garlic in my mouth wonderful happy start to the day.

Staff can be friendly but also miserable a lot of the times.
Overpriced whole beans!
Place is dirty! walls, floors and no effort put into anything other than the brew.

a Café inside the Trader Joe’s plaza with an abundant amount of seating and outlets if you need to get some work done! don’t worry, with the large windows you’ll be more cheery about doing your work
there’s one large communal table and lots of smaller tables PLUS some outdoor seating
—8 oz soy azeteca mocha: the spices were good at first but after a while the drink was just okay
if you need a snack they had a few bagels when i came but not a huge selection. self serve water!

Great place for your morning coffee. I prefer having my coffee made there over buying by
their beans. They always have a nice selection of pastries as well. Nice calm environment and always friendly service.

Here’s how it goes at Café Luce:
1. Cups of coffee aren’t close to full.
2. Refills are a whopping 10 or 15 cents off the original price.
3. You’ll be charged 50 cents for one squirt of chocolate added to your coffee. (about 3 cents worth)
4. And the topper: I asked for an iced coffee — hold the ice — and got charged 50 cents extra for not including the ice.
I believe the Jewish word to describe the manager, Michael’s, business practices is «shyster.»
His grumpy personality fits right in, too. So, if you’re looking for quality, even reasonable, customer service, I strongly suggest you go elsewhere.

Sitting inside taking in the great aromas. Friendly staff. Super clean and chill. Their coffee of the day gives you a chance to sample different coffees you may not try otherwise. Would give 5 stars if they had more of a selection in food.

This café is close to my house, and the coffee is ok. I have been here a few times to work, and it is not a bad atmosphere but it’s just not my favorite. The pastries/​baked goods are ok as well. It is located in a convenient space/​busy shopping center and worth a stop in if you need a coffee before shopping at Trader Joe’s.

Fantastic espresso. I thank the gods [past, present, and future] that Luce has the good taste of maintaining a house espresso that’s delicious as single-​espresso shots or with milk.
The coffee is stellar, but the pastries are a little lacking. Yes, one could suggest they get their pastries from a fresh baker, but then again, the focus is on the coffee, as it should be! In fact, I was about to give this place 4 stars (–1 for pastries), but the espresso is too damn good. I’m a huge fan of their 8oz cortado.
Wifi is great, plenty of space to sit, and affable staff. Keep going!

Great espresso-​based drinks! Caffe Luce is my coffee shop of choice in Tucson courtesy of their consistently great cappuccino’s and lattes.
In my experience there are three kinds of espresso: sour, bold, and Holy Grail. There’s nothing worse than sour… NOTHING! And I apologize for even using the word in this review. I have only been to one coffee shop in all my life that nailed Holy Grail and it is 1000 miles away. Caffe Luce is borderline Holy Grail with a nice, round, pure coffee flavor — NOT bitter, NOT harsh, but everything coffee should be but often isn’t.
As a bonus they constantly turn over their drip coffee with something different each time I’m there as well as a great variety of coffee beans for purchase.
To boot the people are extremely friendly, will engage you in chat, and make nice designs in the foam — what more could you ask for?

This place is growing on me. It’s nice when coming off a ride or run on the Rillito Trail. I’m a regular at the Starbucks up the street but the coffee here is every bit as good and I would much rather support a local business. Always clean and I like that they have some self serve water for those daring enough stay away from buying a bottle.

The coffee is good, but they don’t have much in the way of food– just pastries that sell out by the afternoon. AND– if you want a refill on drip coffee, they charge you full price!
The lack of food options and no-​refill policy is really disappointing because it is an otherwise comfortable space– tables are large enough to spread out a bit, and they’ve set it up so that you have enough distance between you and the table next to you– it doesn’t feel cramped like some other places.
Locations are great– right on campus and by Trader Joe’s on Campbell.

Just walking in you can smell the unique deliciousness. See beautiful local art. While being greeted by friendly baristas.
I found out about this café via a friend. Since then I try to go once a month. Considering I live 45 minutes away.
The use there own beans. You can order whole or freshly grounded beans by ½ or 1 lb. amazing taste.
I always order the iced white mocha. My friend orders the Dirty chai. Delicious as well. It’s far better than Starbucks & other chains.
