We dined at Buddy’s while visiting family in Tucson. We’re from Houston, a total foodie city, and were very impressed with the food and service. The appetizers were fresh and flavorful and a few local beers were available on draft. My husband ordered the pot pie and loved it! My favorite thing was that you could tell things were made in-house…chicken strips, burger patties, dressings etc. no frozen/pre-made shortcuts here! We enjoyed our dinner with family and definitely recommend trying this place out!

Food is fresh and reasonably priced. Light yet filling options are available for those of us who are mindful of what we feed our bodies.

First time here. Had the French onion soup and meatloaf. Overall pretty good. The soup was great. The meatloaf had a lovely taste, but was a bit dry. I would have loved to have some veggies on the side instead of just mashed potatoes.

First time here and it was superb. Alexis recommended the Chicken Sonoma and it tasted like something you would eat in heaven. Great variety of cocktails and the atmosphere was delightful. Definitely will make this a new regular date spot.

My family has been here several times, our server is always very friendly, all though very busy and we usually have to track them down for a check. The last 2 meals I had were just not good. I had the mahi mahi which was flavorless, no seasoning and only lemon on the side. The last time we ate here I had the sirloin steak. It was very tough and lacked flavor, I normally don’t ask for steak sauce, but this steak needed it. They have a great cheap kids menu, so we may be back again to try maybe the fish and chips next time.

Food isn’t very good. It all kind of taste blah to me. Smells funny too, I usually sit outside. Service is great though.

Absolutely horrible. First off I waited 5 – 10 minutes at the bar before someone noticed I was there, I was just stopping in for a quick bite to eat and drink do I asked waitress how long of a wait for food currently? She was sort of rude in her answer(tone/mannerism) but told me «just don’t order a medium rare burger» ok… So I ordered chili cheese fries, took a while for them to come but it was ok… The main problem, 1 colors light and a serving of chili cheese fries was 12 $ wow 7.99 for chili cheese fries alone! At most«grills» you can get a burger AND fries for that price. RIDICULOUS bad service and overpriced!!! I will never come here again in my life, but by all means if you like to be taken advantage of proceed inside there.

Just ok service, small portions that are overpriced, dull menu… Was so disappointed as convenient, and really wanted to like!

Boyfriend and I came here about a week ago spontaneously for dinner. It was a Tuesday night around 7:30 pm. The interior is inviting and casual. I liked how they sell paintings off their restaurant walls(similar to Pita Jungle). Boyfriend and I got some beers. I had Fat Tire on draft. Can’t go wrong. I ordered the guacamole burger and it was good. Boyfriend also ordered a burger and enjoyed it. Would I go back? Yes. Is it anything spectacular? Not really but it’s close to home.

I’ve been to Buddy’s several times over the past 2 years. The service has been variable, sometimes great, sometimes terrible. Unfortunately, the food has also been variable, but mostly poor. For instance, it was a slow mid-week evening, I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with the meat supposed to be medium to bleeding and the bacon well done. Our friends at the table with us ordered bacon skins along with a shared meal. We waited quite a long time for delivery of food and as mentioned the place was not busy. My burger was over cooked while the bacon was fine. My friends potato skins looked, felt and tasted like they were under the heat lamp forever. Sorry, but I can’t take it any longer. There many better places to eat and drink. I’m done with Buddy’s.

Four of us went to Buddy’s Grill for an early dinner. Our friends had been there before and recommended it. From the get go the staff was fantastic, The food was very good. Melissa(aka Jane, Sally, Bobbie Jo, Martha) was our server she is the best and a lot of fun hence all the names. My wife had the fish and chips and I had the cheddar bacon cheese burger and we were both very satisfied with our meals. Thank you Sue, Elizabeth, Linda oh wait I mean Melissa. The manager(Tom) checked in with us to make sure every thing was as it should be. We will defiantly be back.

This review makes me so sad. I’ve been going to Buddy’s since it opened, bringing all my friends to happy hour. The good news, the wait staff, all of it is outstanding! Friendly, attentive, observant. The food, not so much. I really don’t care that the prices have increased, times are hard. But the quality of the food– especially the chicken fingers, salads and rest of the starters have bottomed out. What used to be flavorful is bland, the coating are tasteless and the salad dressing have separated so that all you taste is oil. I would rather pay a bit more and have quality food again. Rita Ranch deserves more. Hate to reiterate, but gave Buddy’s a second chance. Exactly as bad or worse than before. The prices go up and the quality of the food bottom’s out. Not worth the money or the time.

I’ve never been to a Buddy’s Grill before this, and I didn’t have any expectations beyond what I’d read on Unilocal.Ultimately, I didn’t have most of the issues I’ve read in other reviews, and the experience was pretty decent. We showed up around 6:45 on a Tuesday and the restaurant was moderately busy. We were seated at a table by the bar, and the bartender was our waitress. This meant the occasional delay while she was talking to customers at the bar, but it didn’t delay the arrival of appetizers or food, which were brought out by other staff members. The menu is underwhelming, and that might have been the biggest issue I had with Buddy’s. Nothing on it is exciting or interesting; it’s extremely standard American fare. We had the potato skins appetizer, and it was much more than expected. It came with 8 pieces, each with a hefty amount of potato on them(many places seem so meager as to be ONLY the skins), plus a lot of cheese and hefty piles of greasy bacon cubes. The bacon could have been more cooked, and drained of its grease. Other than that, these were a nice surprise. My entrée was the Grilled Cajun Chicken Caesar Salad, because I figured anything with 5 words in the name must be awesome. It was also the most interesting-sounding thing on the menu. When it arrived, it had probably twice as much chicken as I expected. As with the potato skins, Buddy’s seems to make up for its high prices with huge portions. The chicken was thinly sliced, which was odd, but it was pretty decent. The«cajun» component was a spice mixture sprinkled judiciously over the salad. It didn’t have a ton of flavor, but it also wasn’t bad. There was also a lot of ambiguous cheese, which seemed to have no flavor, but also wasn’t bad. I mostly ate around that. We left full, and the prices — which look high on the menu — seemed reasonable, given the portions. My overall impression was that Unilocal’s 3.5-star average rating was quite accurate. Everything here was perfectly acceptable, but nothing stood out. In general, I felt like it was an off-brand Chili’s. I chose a rating of 3 stars instead of 4 because the service was slightly slow. Food tended to arrive just as I was wondering if it was ever going to get there. Having the bartender also waiting tables felt like a mistake, as it did also cause some of the delays. In the end, I think I would eat here again, although not often. I think if service were faster, I would be happy to bump this review up to 4 stars.

Buddy’s is a family favorite. Very classic American fare here, sandwiches, burgers and salads are staples. On my most recent visit I had a turkey and avocado sandwich. It was good, but seriously how can you go wrong with a combo like that? On a side note the sandwich was huge! Speaking of sides, I had a cup of soup as mine. The soup that day was the chicken tortilla which came highly recommended by out waitress. Unfortunately it didn’t live up to expectations. It was only so, so. No diet coke here and the diet RC they served didn’t really cut it. But the real reason to come to Buddy’s are the zucchini muffins! The owner’s Grandmother’s secret recipe. They are served complimentary with your meal. We always have to order extra.
