5 stars bbq and prices as well as friendly quick service! Stopped by to try some pulled pork. It was delicious and smoky. It was accompanied by spicy, tangy delicious sauce, rolls and coleslaw all for under $ 15. What a deal! I will definitely be going back to try the brisket. The food sells out quick so get there early!

My family used to go to this truck all the time in the late 90’s. I was driving down cortaro today & was ecstatic to see this familiar truck. I got the sampler which came with perfectly smoked & seasoned, pork, brisket, & chicken. It came with slightly spicy but smokey baked beans, a mustardy dill potato salad, & a pepper celery vinegar flavored cole slaw. It also had 3 huge perfectly crusty on the outside, soft on the inside rolls, & warmed bbq sauce. Overall it was enough food for at least 3 meals. The guy who runs it is as friendly as always, & is quick to put everything together. As a Texas native we don’t have a lot of good bbq places in Tucson, Bobby Deans is one of the few gems.

I am not sure where BBQ man has been. I heard a rumor that he was moving. Hope not but he has not been on Thornydale for the last few weeks.

Get the Chef’s Pound of pulled pork! Plenty of meat and four good rolls for $ 20. We often make a trek over on a Saturday just to see if he is set up and will get the Q to bring home for lunch. He loads you up with styrofoam cups full of whichever sauce you like(I like the hot and my wife likes the sweet.) I recommend having some dill pickles and chips on hand to complete your sandwichs and just get the meat and buns from Bobby! I wish he was set up every day, but he usually seems to be there Fridays and Saturdays.

Bobby Dean’s Hickory Bar-B-Q or as our family refers to it — the BBQ guy is the perfect lunch on the way home from running errands on the weekends. Who am I kidding I would eat this for lunch everyday of the week if I could. My absolute favorite is the pulled pork sandwich with Mild BBQ sauce. The husband and dad love the Hot BBQ sauce, but mom and the sisters love the Sweet, there is something for everyone. Have also tried the chicken, not always available, but also tasty. The brisket has good flavor, but was too fatty for my taste. BBQ guy is a roadside cart on the East side of Thornydale between Hardy and Overton. You can find him on Friday and Saturday afternoons. Remember cash only. BBQ guy has been here 10+ years, but now more vendors are cropping up and the property owner is charging rent. The pulled pork sandwich is ~5.75, so to keep BBQ guy around some spare change or a few extra dollars to chip in for rent is always appreciated.
