I’m not a Sonoran Dog fan; I came for the carne asada. Sha-ZAM! Yum! Amazing flavorful meat. I got a plate with two tacos, one pastor and one carne asada, plus a carne asada carmelo(something I’d never had before – basically a quesadilla-like sandwich of two flour tortillas with cheese and meat inside.) Everything was so flavorful we hardly needed the extensive pickle bar featuring several salsas, guacamole, radishes, cukes, shredded cabbage, etc. Loud atmosphere with Britney Spears videos playing but that kind of added to the charm of the place. I will be back.

My family used to frequent this place a long time ago before el Guero Canelo blew up in popularity. Their food was always good and the Sonoran dogs have more a bite in terms of flavor due to the onions and mustard used. Recently we visited it and were greeted with the same quality and memories, so we were happy with the results. Sadly, we prefer Guero’s steak more, so we don’t come here as often as we used to.

I was wanting to try one of these hot dogs since I saw this place on Triple D about 4 years ago. We looked at a bunch of places that served these kinds of dogs. Actually the highest rated wasn’t open until after 7pm and this was going to be a morning mission on the way back to the airport. The Unilocal site has lots of things featured that were NOT on the menu(the cheese/chorizo dip) the cupcakes, the alcoholic drinks… kinda makes me wonder if we were at the right place. The toppings on the dog overwhelm it, I could not taste the bacon at all. And yes the topping bar is plentiful, but only made me want to more overload my dog. We also got a carne asada torts… it was okay, the bun was fresh, but I know of a few better tort as here in Cali. I would eat a sonoran dog again if it were in front of me, but will not again actively seek one out. 45 mins drive was too far to travel for mediocrity.

For some reason I thought they would have more than two hot dogs but they had a variety of things on the menu. The cashier was extremely nice and quick. The weird thing about their card policy is that you must show I’d with it. I’m not entirely sure why this is but it’s different from Texas law. Asking for ID is considered a breach of agreement in Texas. I digress. They give you a number and the food is delivered to you. The sauce bar is nice. Smoked peppers and the guacamole are my favorites. The hot dog came out and was delivered with a very inviting smile. The hot dog was good and it came with a soda and fries. I’m not a mayo kind of person but they put the right amount on the hot dog to where it doesn’t gross me out. It’s great to know this place is open late. If I grew up here I would frequent this place alot. The place is very clean and the business works like a well oil machine.

My visit, back in July 2015, was my second to the Tucson area. Since I had been to Tucson once before, I was excitedly awaiting the opportunity to eat The Old Pueblo’s signature, tubular masterpiece: the Sonoran Dog. Unfortunately, BK Carne Asada was mainly a disappointment. The Sonoran Dogs served by this establishment are especially small, which stands in stark contrast to the meaty and delicious Sonoran Dog I first ate elsewhere during a previous visit to the Tucson area. They weren’t bad hot dogs, but they were unexceptional, which is kind of surprising when you consider that the place was packed. Popularity breeds mediocrity, it seems. To complicate matters, when I made my order, the cashier didn’t hear me correctly. Instead of giving me just one Sonoran Dog, she charged me for four, which was quadruple the amount of dog I planned to slam into my face. In light of the above, I chose not to slam the extra, unexceptional hot dogs I was given.

I have experienced numerous Sonoran hotdogs around Tucson. BK Carne Asada and Hotdogs is by far the best in Tucson. Carne Asada, Sonoran Hotdogs… that have a wonderful salsa bar different types of salsa, Guacamole etc. However… BYFAR… the best item is the Sonoran Hotdog. Amazing. Staff are very polite and helpful, and you don’t feel like your bothering hem… they are excited to serve you and stand behind their food. I will MISS this unique aspect of Tucson. I think I may have one more before I go.

I am a regular of «that other» Sonoran dog place across the street. I decided to give BK a shot… The sonoran dog showdown results Bun — I think goes to EGC by a slight margin Bacon — hands down better flavor from BK Dog — no weiner winner TIE included toppings — nobody out on top TIE Salsa bar — all you can shovel guac… beats grilled. onions anyday in my book… BK Price — EGC by a tiny margin… but hey guacamole ain’t .cheap So in conclusion they are both excellent and the only thing that would sway me other than which direction I am heading(I hate making a left turn into a parking lot if I can avoid it) is if I want a pound of guacamole with my dog or not. Enjoy… I did!

Succulent bacon wrapped Sonoran hotdogs in a fluffy bun loaded with cream sauce, beans, cheese, and a pico de gallo salsa, throw in a nicely toasted chile guerito(lightly salted) and you’re in heaven! Seriously, this place rocks, as a comparison we tried out Guero Cannelo and that place is nothing compared to BK!

Go to this BKs. None of that weird sit-down waiter stuff. Carmelos are the way to go!

Very tasty carne asada tacos and also got the Sonoran dog. Both were great! I especially loved the garnish bar where they had several different salsa types, fine chopped lettuce, pico, etc.

Definitely my go-to place for tacos, burros, y Sonoran hot dogs. I always take family and friends from out of town to BK. The salsa bar always tastes fresh and I especially love their guacamole. A little tip: This location doesn’t sell Micheladas, however — the location on 1st Avenue does.

I boosted an extra star cuz there were several negative reviews that seemed a bit unfair. I found it very clean. The staff was friendly and responsive. I LOVED the salsa bar — it is Epic, the best I have ever been to. It is all free to put on your food — great salsa mixed with guac, a nice range of salsas, tiny cheeses, tiny lettuce, and lots more to choose from. The tiny lettuce and cheese was very unusual. I had a carne asada soft taco. Generousness portion of meat. The flavor was okay and a couple of tough chunks in there — but hey you drown it at the Salsa Bar. Okay I did try another Sonoran Hot Dog and this is the best one yet. The hot dog was smoke grilled. Next time I will ask if I can get a chorizo instead just for added flavor. I also want to try some other items off the menu including the cheesecake or flan. The place was very clean like I said. I will be back …

About twice a year I get an uncontrollable craving for a Sonoran hotdog, when the craving hits we head all the way across town to BK’s. They are the best in Tucson. The caramelos are awesome and should not be overlooked. They have an array of fresh salsas and veggies at the salsa bar. If you are intrigued to try an authentic Sonoran hotdog you must give them a try!

You need to get a michelada ! They really are one of the best ones I have had! The sonoran hotdogs are great! But I really like their salsa bar complete with cucbers and cebollitas, delicious! The asada burritos are really good too, I add some salsa and lettuce on top alongo with pico de gallo salsa.
