Mellow Mushroom

Service at this Mellow Mushroom is stellar, hence the 5 star rating. We have had excellent waitstaff each time. The food comes out hot and accurate to what you ordered. Last time we were there with our newborn and the waitstaff per our request kept the food moving out to our table as soon as it was ready and gave us the bill when we asked so we could leave when we needed to for the little one. Once the little one is older we may even be able to linger a bit and enjoy this place even more. Great trivia on Tuesday nights.

Great pizza but noise level makes conversing difficult. I especially like the fact that they have gluten free pizza, I don’t have to worry about allergies when I take people there.

I planned to go here with my friend and when I parked pulled up the Unilocal reviews. I was a lol nervous about the two star recent ratings, but despite the slow service everyone mentioned I saw no other negative things. My experience was great actually! We sat at the bar and the bartender was amazing. Ironically it was Tuesday so it was trivia night as well. We participated and it was fun, but we did not win anything special. Just something to do. Now for the food, the pizza was very good-​crust and all. We got the mighty meat pizza. The cheese bread was out of this world and so were the wings. I knew about Mellow wings from my last visit in another state. These wings were up to par. I ordered 5 jerk wings and the my friend ate 4. Lol he denied wanting wings but they were so good he ordered 10 more! They were so tasty. Oh and the tea, to crave for. Nice, sweet, the Ga way.

Been here about 3 times in the last month or so. Twice to-​go and once to dine in.
Seems like all the recent reviews are railing on the service. I’d like to say my experiences ran contrary to the crowd… But they didn’t. Service was consistently lackluster.
My to-​go orders were handled, but just that. Not particularly friendly.
When I ate in the pizza took quite a while despite the restaurant not being overly busy, our server looked and acted like she didn’t want to be there (not a single smile), and she also forgot about our table somehow when we were trying to pay so my friend and I sat with an empty table waiting for her to come back for quite a while.
Luckily, I love my friend, so spending a few more minutes at a table joking about how the server forgot about us isn’t the worst use of time. Sadly, I do not love the service here.

This place is in my neighborhood, so I want to really like it. However this location is very inconsistent. Tonight, I ordered a large House Special pizza, but with NO veggies on half (father-​in-​law won’t eat veggies). They gave me a pizza with ONLY veggies on half. I was willing to live with the miscommunication, so I took the pizza home. But after getting home, I took one bite and had to spit it out. The entire bottom was burnt black, and the whole pizza was completely inedible. I have never done this before, but it was so bad that I took it back. They said sorry and gave me my money back, but offered no other reparation, even though at it was now 9:45 and I was stuck with no dinner. I have been a regular guest here for over 2 years, but since I never know what I am going to get, I am done eating here.

We walked into the restaurant for lunch and a hostess who was cleaning a table came to the hostess stand when she was finished. She acted scared of us and talked so quietly we couldn’t hear her. We were seated and no one came over for a very long time. We looked around and couldn’t see any servers anywhere. We finally got il and left.

Had a great experienc, service was spot on. The pizza and cold beer were delicious. The environment is clean and roomy. The staff are friendly. The manager even came by to check on us. We will be back.

Worst experience we have had in a restaurant in a while. The hostess and waiter were decent but the experience derailed quickly. We ordered a salad and a few minutes after order our pizza. Oddly enough, our pizza showed up about 5 minutes later which was peculiar, well before our salad had even arrived at the table. To compound this, the pizza seemed like it had sat in the window for sometime as it was warm at best.
The manager came by and we told him what was occurring. He apologized for the ordering of the meal and offered to take the pizza back «to keep it warm». After a few minutes, he finally came clean and said the kitchen made an extra pizza and they decided to just bring it out. This is even more concerning as I saw our waiter drop a pizza off at the table behind us who then sent it back because it was not what they ordered. I believe this was the same pizza we were then served. I guess Mellow was more concerned about having to throw out an extra pizza they errantly made than offering customers the proper service.

They’ve remodeled, it feels brighter and more open, but still has the charming 70s stoner vibe. Dandy salads, we got a Caesar and it had the real deal ribbons of parmesan, and good crunchy Romaine. Craft beers, decent selection, beer-​knowledgeable servers.
Pizzas, salads and sandwiches, very good. Rich in vegetarian choices, healthy stuff. Love the Righteous Portobello Reuben, and the Tempeh Hoagie. You can pick up a pizza, or sit down and get good, friendly service. In my opinion, they are better at service than the one near Whole Foods on LaVista. I like both places but have at times grown a long white beard waiting for food at the Whole Foods one.

We’ve been to Mellow Mushrooms in Texas, Florida, and now Georgia. We first went to the Brookhaven, GA location and were pretty disappointed – mostly by the service (or lack of). We’re bar-​sitters and the dude at their Southlake, TX location was always on point – so much that we became near weekly regulars. Brookhaven could have cared less, was really sweaty and running around most of the time even though they didn’t look all that busy. So we thought we’d try another location and the Lavista Rd location was awesome. Eugene was a great bartender: funny, attentive, and killing it at balancing both pick-​up orders (probably 10 while we sat there) and bar service. Wings were great and the craveable Holy Shiitake was as good as ever. We’ll be back!

I’ve been to other locations and loved it. I was kind of in a rush so as soon as I sat down I asked if I could go ahead and place an order for a large pizza. The host said he wasn’t our server and walked away. He could’ve at least said, «I’ll let your server know your in a rush» or something.
Also, is it just me or was it super difficult finding this location?

I’ve been to several mellow mushrooms and this was my first disappointing experience. Bar tender was a little rude and really made me want to walk out. Maybe he was upset I wasn’t drinking and only ordering to go. I didn’t care because the food is always good. He kept trying to talk me into drinks I didn’t want. So, I had to ask for silver wear and napkins twice. He sucked.
Then the food. Worst salad I’ve ever had from them. Build a salad, how can you go wrong? Avocado was not ripe. Basically paid extra for garbage. The chicken was average nothing amazing and some old lettuce too. Shocking experience, I thought all MM’s were on point. Live and learn.

Usually a huge fan of mellow mushroom but this was a disappointment. Our pretzel appetizer was nice and hot but the tortilla soup was cold and my husbands calzone wasn’t hot. They took the soup back and «fixed» it up but came out only a little warmer, not soup temperature.

I’ve experienced Mellow Mushroom pizzas as a catered-​for-​work thing (and I’d enjoyed the variety they’d offered), but this is the first time I’m actually dining in the restaurant proper.
One of my friends had a hankering for pizza, so I’d suggested this location — knowing its quality and vegetarian-​friendliness — and made my way over. It’s more nondescript than some of the other stand-​alone buildings I’ve known of in Buckhead, Grayson, and Briarcliff (my friend even said he’d not known this place existed), but in TARDIS-​like fashion, it does very much look bigger on the inside.
Once inside, the host greeted me, and invited me to find the table my friend had taken. When there, probably *the friendliest server ever* attended us. She knows multitasking and customer service, and she alone pushes the star rating to 5.
I’d ended up getting the house calzone, which was absolutely delicious and filling, and while it was semi-​disappointing they didn’t have hot beverages available tonight, the lemonade I’d ordered did go well with it and I have no complaints. Needed my vitamin C anyway!
My friend ordered a 10-​inch pizza, the smallest of the three sizes they make to order, along with a house salad (which our server graciously brought onions and mozzarella cheese to add on after-​the-​fact). She seriously knows her stuff too, down to the consistency of the salad dressings!
If you want a family-​friendly, reasonably quiet, dinner outing with a friend, a Sunday evening at this location is *definitely* the way to go.

I’ve been to good Mellow Mushrooms locations (i.e. off Monroe near Piedmont Park)… and this one is NOT included. These people don’t understand how to make good pizza … it’s not OK to just throw a whole bunch of crap on it and call it a day. The toppings should be placed strategically. I shouldn’t bite into a 3-​layered piece of uncooked bacon. Was also peeved that they screwed up our order. Won’t be ordering from here again.

First time going here. The server wasn’t knowledgeable about the liquor selection, but she knew the menu. It was clean, food was good, fresh and hot, would definitely go back! By the way. the calzones are AMAZING! !

We love mellow mushroom, and hadn’t been to one since moving to this area.
This location left a lot to be desired. Our waiter was bad, and I mean jaw droppingly terrible. Not only was he forgetful and aloof, but several other people, looking all official in polo shirts, walked throughout the restaurant asking people if «everything is ok,» and then walked away empty handed leaving dirty dishes on the tables. We were brought warm, flat beer with a ton of head (and we just met?) and no apologies. I also ordered soup which took as long to come out as the pizza (isn’t soup typically pre-​prepared?). All of this was even forgivable, because it was clear our waiter was busy. However, where was this waiters help? This leads me to believe the problem isn’t just one person, but a systemic issue at this location.
The pizza was great, which is why we go to mellow mushroom; but the service was astoundingly awful. We will seek out a different location in the future. I am a patient person and was even a server myself for close to 15 years, so I know how it goes, but the service on display at this location was just unacceptable.

Yummy place to have a good fun meal.

We had a great experience here during our visit.
The pizza was amazing. I have been to this chain before, but never this location, and they really produced a good pie.
As good as the food was, the service was even better. Our server was very attentive, never crowding the table but looking for us to need him from across the room. I certainly appreciated his style. When our son spilled his soda, the server came right over delivering napkins, assisting in the clean up, and offering to wipe the table down to remove any sticky residue.
If I lived closer to this location, I would eat here often.

Our food was good, but our service was really, really, slow. I mean, slow. I’m not sure whose fault that was. Our server took our order in good time. I’m presuming he placed the order correctly. Beverages came out in reasonable time. Our server even checked up on us from time to time. And then he said «Your pizza is coming out of the oven. It should be here in one minute and thirty seconds.» Fifteen minutes later, we had our pizza. Another ten minutes later, I had the sandwich I had ordered at the same time. (I actually had to go check on the thing, it arrived 5 min after my inquiry.)
Then we asked for boxes. And our server said, «Boxes, got it.» And then he came back to check on us: «I’ll bring you a box right away.» And then a few more minutes later: «Do y’all need your drinks to go? I’ll bring you your boxes, next.»
Finally, with our boxes filled, paying the bill seemed to go painlessly enough. But what was up with all the delays? Sheesh.
