Red Truck

Found this fun place on Unilocal!It lived up to it’s reviews and then some. I had the street tacos with marsala chicken and my husband had the gyro with lamb. Both were delicious! To finish off the meal we had fresh baked cookies that melted in our mouths. The delightful cashier/​server delivered great service as well. We will be back!

Excellent spot in Truckee! Not far from 80 — worth the short drive to the airport. I had the Naanwhich with falafel and a cup from vegetarian broccoli cheddar. Both delicious! The soup was so good I wish I had a bowl instead of a cup. Hubs said his plain naan dog was well seasoned but not spicy which for him works! Will come back!

Tasty Indian fusion food. Great location. I hd the naan San wich. Buddy had the burrito. Pretty damn tasty I’ll be back to try something else.

Decided to give a second try. It was fantastic. Everthing was fresh and the flavors out of this world. My opinion has changed and would recommend to anyone who asks.

Amazing food and friendly staff. Best lunch spot in Truckee! Chicken tikka masala bowl is delicious! Highly recommend any of their food. Also, I’m a self admitted cookie snob, and rarely find restaurants that sell homemade cookies up to my standards. Red Truck cookies are a different story. Just ate a hot chocolate chip cookie, fresh out of their oven. Really soft, gooey and just delicious. I’d include a picture, but we ate the cookie in about 1 minute…

Everything tasted very fresh with good portions. Makes you want to taste other items. The place was packed but you can watch the Truckee airport!

The best place for breakfast when in Tahoe. You can sip coffee while watching the planes take off and land, eating fresh housemade muffins (the best I’ve ever eaten — EVER) and tuck in to the most insanely delicious breakfast burritos you will ever taste — vegetarian heaven (though they serve meat too).

Not bad. Over priced but good food on a limited menu. Located in small airport terminal. No wait service.

What a little gem this café turned out to be! I was visiting Lake Tahoe and took my then 7 year old son to the Truckee airport to romp on the playground equipment and watch the planes
land and take off.
We got hungry and headed inside to the café on the recommendation of a local. Some of the food has a little bit of an Eastern Indian taste to it. It is delish!
We even went back again!
Great, friendly service. Darling blonde young woman was the cashier and server. Bought adorable souvenir T shirt for my dad. They didn’t have any in kids’ sizes or I would have bought one for my son.

Clearly the locals have his place figured out. Always packed at lunch. Kind of an off the beaten path, but worth the mini mission to get to it. Food is excellent and fun to be at the Truckee private airport.

I come to Truckee once a month. I love the Red Truck. Amazing lunch. Lots of variety — non-​traditional items! I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great meal!

Everything about this place is perfect.
— Location is great:
First, I thought it was a weird location, but after I visited, I loved it. It’s sitting inside a private airport’s building, it’s not busy at all and you get to sit inside looking out the window with a view of the runway and beautiful trees in the background. Everything is very clean, well organized, and cute.
— Food is amazing: we ordered a veggie quinoa bowl and a nannwich with falafel, along with a soup. Everything was super tasty, healthy, clean, and fresh. I would consider this one of the best food in the area.

Best restaurant in Truckee! Burger & BLTA: incredible! (Featured as specials weekly) Falafel is outstanding, chicken masala naanwich is delicious. Breakfast burrito & sando are money. In fact, everything i’ve eaten there is money (and I eat there a lot)
Save room for a cookie! they are unrivaled. Service is great! Sophie & Kati always serve up the eats with a smile & Chef Larry, Ramon & Yale hold it down in the kitchen.

It will seem odd to be on vacation and go to an airport to have lunch but this is a great spot. The food is a nice mix of Latin, Indian and Asian flavored. Served by a friendly staff and reasonably priced (remember it’s California). The best part is that it’s a great spot to take kids too. They can watch the small planes land and take off and there’s a nice little green space with tables and a small play area. Hidden gem!

Let me start by saying Larry is amazing at what he does! We had Red Truck cater a dinner for about 110 people the night before our wedding and the food was nothing short of fantastic! He helped us plan a menu, even taking into account my horrible aversion to cilantro and a few picky eaters who we knew were joining us. He was easy to work with and our entire wedding raved about the food for the rest of the weekend! Thank you Larry and the Red Truck team. Everything was perfect!

My boyfriend and I just had lunch, and did not leave hungry. Wow! Living in Truckee (saturated with Mexican food and pizza) we wanted something different. Boyfriend got the lamb gyro, and let me try it, it was delish! Tender lamb, fresh veggies, and the naan was perfect. I got the lamb bowl with fresh veggies, and quinoa — also very tasty! Ooh, and if you get there in time, you have to try their cookies. we had the peanut butter and the chocolate chip! Will go back again to explore more of the menu! (Aslo our go-​to EVERY Truckee Thursday!)

We went to the brick and mortar location in the airport. The staff was very friendly! There are around 5 – 6 tables to sit at.
I had the samosa’s (almond butter chicken) and chicken tikka masala naanwiche.
— The Samosa’s were out of this world good (4.5 stars).
— The naanwiche was good but there was some taste I did not like in it. I think it may have been the hummus but I am not sure. I will have to experiment next time I order it. The naan itself was very good! (3.5 stars). Serving was very big:-)
It is worth it just to come for the samosa’s and I am sure there are other items on the menu I might like.
The peeps with me had the following and ratings below are from them.
— Falafel Naanwich (3 stars) — they did not like the taziki that came with it
— Chicken Tikka Masala Naanwich — two guest said 4 stars at least maybe 4.5 so they liked it better than I did:-)
— Coconut curry lamb taco (3 stars). Was small but he was pre-​warned on that. He said the meat was dry.
— Lamb Gyro (2 stars) — very dry lamb

Wow. Plain and simple. Wow.
Red Truck On the Runway is the «brick and mortar» version of The Red Truck food truck. This ain’t no greasy spoon airport restaurant. To the contrary, this is a foodie’s paradise.
Open until 3pm everyday but Sunday RTOTR is an exceptional find blending culinary talent with Mexican, Indian, Greek and American influences. The result is a party for your palate overlooking the planes.
Pork Vindaloo samosas are wonderful, flaky and delicate on the outside, tender and flavorful on the inside. The over-​the-​top addition is the accompanying side that hints of fennel and chocolate. Sublimely delicious.
The Naanwich is home made naan bread filled with tasty fillings like coconut curried lamb, cucumber, tzatziki and more. Each bite is delish.
Drinks are in the cooler, and a cheerful, knowledgeable cashier/​server will bring your lunch delight to your table.
I don’t award too many five star reviews, particularly for lunch, but Red Truck on The Runway is cleared for takeoff and is simply amazing.
