My girlfriend and I have been climbing inside for about 3 months, and we were looking for some professional instruction on setting up anchors and top roping outside. We spent 5 hours with Chris — building anchors and climbing. We had a great time and we now feel comfortable setting up a variety of anchors and climbing safely outside. Chris is a fun guy to be around, he oozes knowledge about his sport, and I highly recommend that anyone looking for professional rock climbing guidance in the Truckee or Joshua Tree area(depending on time of year) link up with him. We will be repeat clients of his later in the summer when it is time to learn some new skills.

I spent one day climbing with Chris Baumann in Joshua Tree. I had only one weekend to climb as much as possible and Chris made sure to make the most out of it suited to my preferences. Ive been climbing for some years here in Norway so seeing Joshua Tree was really an exotic adventure. I think any climber — beginner or experienced — will learn and enjoy being in Chris’ company. He such an outgoing and steady guy, and takes really good care of his clients, both socially and as a professional climber.

Chris started me on a top rope at Donner Summit a couple of years ago and now I’m learning Trad climbing with him. He critiques my gear placement and anchors in an constructive and patient way. We’re building a solid foundation for a skill that will take me years to master and I trust him implicitly. Chris’s expertise runs deep and his detailed knowledge of dozens of routes in the Tahoe area is mind boggling! Such a talented guide. I highly recommend his service.
