Had been going here for years and it was always good food however sometimes slow and sometimes missing details. Our last visit though my husband picked up carry out koshary and the onion was black, completely over cooked and bitter. We are done.

I was very, very dissatisfied with the service here. The waitress(not middle Eastern) was aloof, disinterested, slow — and was constantly yakking with another waitress. The food was excellent, like their other locations.

The food here is wonderfully tasty, and the service was efficient! My Mom and I split the following dishes, and I would high recommend all of them: crushed lentil soup, lamb vegetable soup, meat shawarma, and hommous with lamb. They also provide mini pitas and toum(garlic sauce) as an appetizer, which is a yummy combo.

The food was very yummy and plentiful. I ordered the beef hummus to go and go a lot of rice and salad. My only gripe is that the baklava pieces are really small. They are delicious though. The hummus was very flavorful also. The rice was delicious and I want to eat more of it. The service was quick and very polite/professional. I’ll have to try to eat in next time.

Began stopping in for crushed lentil soup for lunch on workdays. Stopped-stopping in when they scraped the burned bottom of the soup pot, stuck it in a human-food take-out container, bagged it up and served me that crap with a straight face. It was dreadful. Full disclosure: I have never dined in here, so that is the sum of my experience. Won’t be back.

Overall, a great family restaurant! It is so home-y and open. I love the décor and ambience. As for the food, I would say it is average to good. I ordered the kata plate; tbh, the chicken kafta made me nauseous, but that’s just me. Their hummus and garlic sauces were really good, as are the tawook and grilled chicken. I’ve had better, but I would go again.

Went to this place one or twice way back when it was Lashish. My dad and I came with a groupon offer but they have lunch specials along with a lunch buffet for like $ 6 bucks… I was very surprised as I don’t see too many Middle Eastern places having a buffet so that’s something I’m keen on trying. We each ordered two shawarma sandwiches/wraps. I ordered one meat(lamb) shawarma sandwich and one chicken shawarma sandwich(each for $ 4.69) and a plate of french fries(~$ 4). My dad ordered two chicken shawarma sandwiches for the same prices plus a cup of lentil soup. French fries were pretty standard but it really goes well with the sandwiches. Frankly, I like the lamb one a lot more. For those who are new, lamb is usually the default meat in this type of cuisine and as such as the combination is sublime… chicken is more of an appeal to other customers. Nevertheless, the chicken one was good. The lamb one was simply great in my opinion. Just like complementary soup in Thai restaurants or chips/salsa in Mexican restaurants, La Marsa gives complementary Pita and garlic butter as a spread/dip. It’s really the quintessential item in this style of food. Really tasty but filling especially if you’re dining in a small group or eat large amounts. Glancing over the menu, entrée items are like 16.99 which is very pricey. Better off getting sandwiches and other items if ordering a la carte or trying their buffet. A nice place with a long history in Troy. A must-try!!! :)

Delicious food. Garlic paste too strong though. Generous portions of all dishes. Chicken extremely tender and salads fresh.

This place just registers okay in every single category. The atmosphere is okay. The food is just fine and the prices maybe a little high for such place in an area full with competitors. I only like their soup, and really never craved their food. I just used to go there because it was close to where I study.

I would leave a five star because the food and the people are almost always amazing. The experiences I have had have all been great… with the exception of the one we had today. A friend of mine called to place a carry out order more than a half an hour before the restaurant closed. All we wanted was a cup of soup, some fries and some hummus and we made that known.(bear in mind the fries take a couple mins and the other items just get scooped out of one container and put in a to go box). We were told that we can’t place an order, and employees in the background were heard saying to tell us no. I suppose that it kind of skewed my view of a place that was once one of my favorites. I suppose if you don’t want to serve guests, you should probably not stay open…

Let me cut right to the chase: Carry out order which was called in, & employee taking order missed two items. Bread was not fresh. Instead old bread was heated up. Asked for extra bread, didn’t get it. Fattoush dressing was sour. Service is always horrible & you can tell the staff clearly does not care. They use sweet pickles in their shawarma sandwiches, which ruin the whole taste of the sandwich. I enjoy the strong garlic sauce & the convenient location. Not really anything else.

Where was my 33% off like the sign outside? The chicken sharwama is creepy with chewy fat and veins and underspiced. The beef kabob, however, is very good.

This place is over priced for no good reason. Many of Arabic food places around that are way cheaper. Placed a chicken tawook order and told them I wanted 3 orders for work. After getting back to work and opening my bag I found that my order was so small for it to be 3 combined orders, so I contacted them to see if they forgot to give me the complete order but the guy on the phone said that I was given the full order. I was charged $ 19.08 for a few pieces of chicken tawook and some veggies as you can see in the pic I added. Word of advice Google other Arabic places around before going to this place since they are way cheaper.

The food here is consistently delicious! My one peice of advice is to order carry out with caution. They frequently get my order wrong, which can be really frustrating if I’ve driven all the way home already. Check your order before you leave the restaurant.

Very good food, prepared nicely and presented well. The hummus is so delicious. My favorite dish is Shish Tawook, yum! Great ambiance.

I don’t live in Michigan any longer, I now live in Texas where I can get all the Mexican food I want but perfectly cooked, delicious Middle Eastern food is impossible to find. So when I come home, we come here. I’ll order take out, we eat in, it doesn’t matter, we have to go to La Marsa because, it’s the best. The pitas baked in the oven that come out steaming hot and perfectly cooked so we can dip them in the hummos, baba ghanoush and stuff fattoush salad in them are always a highlight. Fattoush salad can vary depending on where I go, but La Marsa has my favorite with the lettuce, tomatoes, some cucumbers, and of course that dressing that’s tangy and never too oily but coats every piece of your lettuce perfectly. All I want in life is a chicken shwarma plate with that fluffy rice, hummus, the tender chicken that’s NEVER dry and heaps of the garlic paste and of course, the bread. The roasted vegetables are always good, and if we’re feeding a lot of people we’ll add dolmas to the order and falafel too. There are so many choices when it comes to Middle Eastern food in Troy and surrounding areas, but La Marsa’s the best.

This restaurant has typical Detroit mid-east restaurant fare: piquant & delicious garlic butter, hot, freshly baked pitas, carrot juice. Their hummus, baba ghanoush, & falafel are outstanding! The décor is nice & updated from the previous restaurant(Lashish) on the menu. They have family trays both veg & non-veg which is a good value for money.

My boy and I came here for the first time today. We both love Mediterranean food and after reading reviews decided to give La Marsa a try. The food was perfect. We ordered a small hummus and fattoush salad to share. We both ordered chicken shawarma sandwiches. Joslyn was our waitress. She was very sweet and attentive. The seating is very cute and personable. We will definitely be returning.

Very good food, was great to stop on our way to an event on the east side. We had the lamb and a fattoush salad with feta and chicken. Food came quickly which was nice to make our show on time. I was a little stressed at the end of our meal, they had an issue with the credit card machine so our server was gone for what seemed like a long time and we didn’t knew what had happened.

La Marsa is always a good choice. I’ve been slowly trying to work my way through the menu, and I have yet to find a dish that I haven’t liked. There are so many delicious dishes– options for everyone, and the food is always fresh. The service is attentive and friendly. The owner makes an appearance every now and then, and makes an effort to get to know his customers. Even after a brief hiatus from La Marsa when I was doing some heavy traveling for work, the owner recognized me when I came back several months later. That’s a true testament to his dedication to the restaurant. If I could eat La Marsa every day, I would.
