Omg! Just like the Yucatan. Dinner # 2! Highly recommend. Small place just about 10 tables. But all your Mexican favorites. I’m going to work my way through the entire menu. They do carry beer too.

Amazing Mexican take out. I have loved everything that I have tried there. A word of warning though the hot salsa is extremely HOT… I love spicy food but it is to hot for my enjoyment. Not holding that against them, as I love this place. And I highly recommend it.

It’s been a few years since we’ve been here, and man, we have been missing out. After a long day of housework, we didn’t want to cook, and we didn’t didn’t want to sit at a restaurant. Take out was the way to go. We found their menu online, and made the call. 15 – 20 minutes later and our order was ready. We order 2 taco salads– one without beans, the birria dinner, and a small queso with chips. I was nervous ordering the 2 taco salads, because somehow the small detail of ‘no beans’ seems to get lost at many restaurants– not here though! Not only was the order perfect, they wrote ‘no beans’ on the box. I really appreciate those little details. Portions sizes are pretty good. After some chips and delicious queso, I couldn’t even finish the entire taco salad. You are definitely getting your money’s worth here. The service here is great– fast and friendly. I’ll be back.

Tasty Mexican food in the area. They do a brisk carry out business and I tried that option. Ordered a wet burrito with carne asada and an order of pastor tacos. Both were good. Would return again to try other items next time.

Absolutely delicious. My husband had a wet beef burrito and loved it(I had a bite and it was delicious) and my daughter and I each had a taco dinner plate(the traditional kind of tacos with soft corn tortillas, cilantro and onions). The grilled chicken tacos were ok but dry and kind of boring/bland — but in general I don’t have high expectations from taqueria grilled chicken tacos. I’m not sure why I keep ordering them. The steak and the pastor(seasoned pork) were decent but my favorite by far was the CARNITAS. In fact, I have been craving another carnitas taco since we left last night. Next time I will definitely order all carnitas tacos(worth the $ 1 upcharge)! My daughter was also a big fan of the guacamole — it had jalapeño, red onion and tomato in it and was pretty tasty although I prefer my guac without the onion and tomato. My husband enjoyed a HUGE margarita and I watched him enjoy it all so I drove home(being pregnant has some downsides) while my daughter and I drank our Jarritos sodas. Overall it was a delicious meal and we will be back!

I’ve been here a few times over the years when I’m in the area. I typically don’t eat Mexican that often, butt this stuff is great! Tried the wet burrito this time. It’s huge! It did not disappoint. It’s right by my now old Dr. Office whose service wasn’t so good. So I’ll have to find another reason to be in the area to try them again.

Great mexican food and a very friendly staff. Everything was auhentic and delicious. I had the tacos al pastor and my boyfriend had the Mexican burrito. They were both delicious and we left full and happy. They also have tres leches here that althoguh was not amazing, it was as close to a legitimate tres leches as I’ve seen in all of Michigan. I will definitely be back.

Was pleasantly surprised by the food and fun beer selection. Service was great, atmosphere casual and funky. Will be back again. Dude at the register with a cowboy hat was really cute.

Best authentic Mexican food in the area. Love the crunchy tacos and the perfectly seasoned carne asada. Great rice, too.

I stop here quite often when i’m in the area because i love their tres leches cake, guac and salsa, tacos, soup, and entrees. This is one of the better mexican places in the area… The owner is nice, and the service is quick. I’ve been here at least 10 – 15 times and I have never been disappointed. They even serve alcohol now there too.

Have had better Mexican food. Had the chicken quesadilla which tasted like tuna. And had the beef tacos which were alright but I’ve had better. Price range for meals are less than 10 dollars and you get a generous amount for each dish.

As an authentic Mexican myself lol. I must say this food has the real Mexican taste. Maybe some exceptions that have been tropicalized in order to be good for the American market. For example the salsa is not that hot and they have flour tortillas. But it is still good. I like the pastor tacos and la torta de carnitas. The administrators are very nice people too!

This place is wonderful. It’s small yet full of life. The staff is extremely friendly and the restaurant was very clean. I ordered the chicken fajitas which were delicious. There was a great helping of veggies beneath the chicken, soft flour tortillas, and a small platter with beans, rice, and pico. The guacamole was also very satisfying and packed with flavor. The prices were fair and the helpings were generous. I will definitely go there again.

I really like this place. It is authentic and small. They have about 20 different lunch specials which all come with rice, beans and chips/salsa for under $ 10. Today I got the two taco meal with just veggies and the hot salsa, which is HOT. Delicious. They also sell tamales over the counter. Small and intimate, get there early if you want a seat.

I have KVETCHED forever that there is no decent mexican food in michigan. Even downtown can go wrong if you’re not careful… But here it is, my new favorite Mexican outside of Chicago! Really, REALLY good. I went with the combo dinner: 1 taco, 1 tamale and 1 enchilada… All chicken. I judge mexican on two things: lightness of the tamale and quality of the salsas and/or sauces. 5 stars for all of the above. This is a super casual, half take-out place, so no dressing up. You’re coming here for the food. You’re welcome in advance!

The order: Two taco dinners(three tacos a piece) x2 Al Pastor tacos x2 Carnitas tacos Carne asada taco Pollo taco x2 rice x2 beans One of each tamale(three total) A small order of the cheesy Mexican fries(or something like that) My girlfriend and I split all of that… gluttons and proud of it. The total was a kind of shocking $ 37. A day earlier we got basically identical orders at Carnival Market in Pontiac(minus the tamales) for just $ 20. On the plus side(I guess), you can get 15% off your order with a Unilocal coupon. Sort of a pain in the ass trying to decide what to rate La Botana … either a three or a four. What nearly made me give it a three is the fact that if you don’t get chicken or ground beef tacos, you’re charged a dollar extra *per taco* for any other meat. Really??? That’s a bit excessive and bothered us both right away. Okay, the food, the food… it’s pretty good. The complimentary chips and salsa you’re given are above average… both the mild and medium salsas were obviously freshly made. They probably maybe have a hot salsa, but you may need to ask for it. The Mexican fries are french fries with queso, chorizo, sour cream, jalapenos… and maybe some other stuff. Far from authentic, but tasty anyway. My natural comparison is Carnival Market since I had it the day before… Carnival Market’s fries were better(the chicken and salsa blanca on those fries were incredible), but the ones here are still addictingly artery clogging. The tamales were $ 3 a piece, which is also about twice the price of some other places in a 20 mile radius. They weren’t bad at all, but weren’t filled all that much, making the price confusing. The tacos were, unsurprisingly, pretty decent… but knowing I was charged about twice the price per taco because I didn’t want PEASANTMEAT(ground beef) was hanging on me with every bite. The carne asada had good flavor, but could have done without the tablespoon of salt that it seemed my taco had on it… if you haven’t experienced a «sodium headache», you will if you eat three of them. The chicken was a little dry and could have used more flavor. The carnitas was best, followed by the al pastor, I think… it’s also worth saying that I really liked the rice and beans here, more so than the ones at – my favorite comparison — Carnival Market. The rice, beans, pork(carnitas and al pastor), and fries were the best things here… the total price will probably keep me from driving out of the way to come here very often, because I expected more value. In response to Susan: If that were the case, I should have been made known I was going to save money if I were to get the dinners, which I thought I specified I wanted in the first place.

Solid little place. Got the sampler dinner for my first try. Tamale, burrito, two tacos(Chorizo), and chips n salsa. Tried all the sauces I could, no complaints on any of the food. Will be back again to try more and add to this review. Chorizo tacos were very good. Good Verde sauce!
