We chose to celebrate our 25th anniversary and my spouses birthday by staying overnight. I joined the Hilton Honors program. I called the hotel 24 hours in prior to check on to confirm our room reservation. The woman who answered the phone responded to my call as if I were an irritating interruption to her day. Warning bell 1. My spouse checked in and was excited by the hotel. A beautiful facility. Well appointed and filled with clever solutions for hotel room visitors. Super cool bathroom. There were no extra pillows in the room as I had requested on line and when I called the easily annoyed desk clerk. Warning bell 2. We went out for the evening and returned late. The weekend evening desk clerk did not even look up to see who was coming in, let alone greet us pleasantly. Warning bell 3. We had a difficult time getting to sleep with ALLTHENOISE. The walls are paper thin. Both my spouse and I are slightly hard of hearing, and we easily heard the conversations of the guests on either side of the room as well as the people walking up and down the hallway. We were awakened in the morning by the sound of high heels klick clacking across the floor of the room above us! Warning bell 4. It was time to GO. We loaded our belongings into the car, returned our room keys and went to grab the complimentary breakfast. FATALERROR!!! I have never been YELLEDAT by a hospitality industry worker before! The woman co-ordinating the breakfast area was the most RUDE service person we have EVER run into in 25 years of travel/vacation/hotel stays! We left and will NEVER go back or stay in the chain again. There is NOEXCUSE. A travel site I use has several complaints about the SAME behavior at this location. So this treatment of guests by service employees is condoned by management. Why else would this behavior continue? This is a lovely facility. The only thing wrong with it is thin walls. The easiest thing to fix is to remove the staff and management that comes into contact with the customers/clients. We have stayed in FARLESS new/updated locations that will get our business again and again because of the COURTESY and SINCERITY of the staff running the business. Hampton Inn & Suites, Troy, MI dump your management and customer service staff and HIRE some hospitality industry enthusiasts!!!

We came to the Detroit area for a business trip and we were originally booked into the Drury Inn but there was a power outage affecting the area. We ended up at the Hampton Inn. This hotel is new. Overall it is very nice and the price was good. What we found odd were certain design features in the room. We are the kind of travelers who don’t like to live out of a suitcase even for one day. We like to utilize the drawers. This room didn’t have the traditional set up. There was a door about the size of the refrigerator that had wire racks inside that looked more fitting for food storage. This confused us. Another odd feature was a sliding door that was intended to be the bathroom door and closet door but not both at the same time. It wasn’t long enough and not hung properly and would not stay in closed in either position. The bathroom was large and had two sinks and a large shower area. Breakfast was included and was a very nice buffet style. Overall it was a pleasant stay.
