Dolce has a variety of baked goods(tarts, croissants, cookies, cupcakes, biscotti), house-made pastas, and coffee and espresso(beans ground in house according to their website). It appears they also have a Sunday brunch and daily lunch specials. Chicken gumbo was the special at the time I dropped in and it looked delicious. But can you not heat it in the microwave? I understand, being a small business with likely only one chef, that a lot of their menu must be pre-made, but does it take that much more effort to throw it in a pot and heat it on the stove? The ladies dining in here while I was waiting for my food actually brought their bowls back to be reheated, for the second time, in the microwave. Anyway, I had the spinach quiche which, even though it had cooled off quite a bit by the time I got back to work in Brundidge, was very good. The ratio of espresso to milk was perfect in the latte I also had; however, I questioned whether the milk was steamed because the drink was not hot, rather lukewarm. My only other issue with the drink was with the to-go cup: styrofoam with a plastic soda lid. Surely Dolce can invest in some better cups with more appropriate lids for coffee. Perhaps also some sleeves with their company stamp on them, something a little more aesthetically pleasing? It might be silly, but the cup actually detracted from my enjoyment of the drink. I also got both a praline and a chocolate croissant to go. My husband ate the praline(and did not share it with me, I might add) and thought it was delicious. I did get to eat half of the chocolate, but it was just ok, and I’d never get it again. I would love to give Dolce a better rating because I am certain it is worthy of 5 stars, but based on my personal experience, I cannot do better than a 3 at this time. This is a charming little spot and I’m sorry it’s not closer to Fort Rucker because there is nothing even remotely similar within about an hour in any direction. I wish it was easier for me to give it another try, but whenever I’m in the area again, I will definitely go out of my way to come back.

We were pleased with everything about this charming place on The Court Square in the Historic District of Downtown Troy. Walking distance to shopping and walking tours. Great personalities serving unique and locally unavailable Brunch & Treats other than here makes for a wonderful combination. We all recommend this quaint business. You can’t go wrong.

An absolutely charming restaurant! Open six days a week, from Tue-Sun. Menu changes often, and closes at 2 daily(except for Saturdays). Everything is made from scratch, and you can either get your pastries to go, or eat them there in the café!
