Pretty rare these days when something completely exceeds expectations. But, that’s exactly what this place did. Here’s the deal: I’m meeting with a client in Glenwood(about 20 minutes away) first thing in the morning and this is the closest lodging I could find. I travel a lot and stay in a lot of nice hotels. When I booked this place I thought ‘hey, they can’t all be nice places. Every once in awhile you got to stay in a dump to appreciate the nicer places.’ Little did I know, I’ve apparently been staying in dumps all along because this place is AWESOME! The attention to detail in the spacious, clean, well thought out room is impressive. It’s like one of those ‘house crashers’ came in and made it perfect. Who thinks to put a handful of little glow in the dark stars on the ceiling above the bed(sounds kind of low budget as I write that but, trust me, it works with the overall décor). Good cell coverage and wifi too! I’d stay here any day, any time!

So pleased with our stay! The motel/inn was cozy, clean and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was perfect — rustic AND comfortable. They allowed us to bring our dog with a small upcharge, which included a doggie bed and welcome package of biscuits. The bed was very comfortable, we had a restful sleep. While amenities are listed in prior reviews, and I would add that free wifi and complimentary breakfast were a huge bonus. We had a breakfast of sweet potato waffles with fresh huckleberries, fresh cut fruit, cereals, coffee, bagels with cream cheese prior to our 3 day backpacking trip into Indian Heaven wilderness. We met several PCT thru hikers here and loved hearing their adventures — the inn is very kind to these hikers! The woman who checked us in was so knowledgeable about the area, very welcoming and quite a character(retired Air Force mechanic!). We enjoyed the inn, the little town and the characters! Beautiful autumn colors in the fall!

I’ve stayed here a few times over the years; this hotel consistently has clean, affordable and comfortable accommodations. The staff is sweet and they will give you the scoop on all of the outdoor adventures you can have in the area. They offer a breakfast in the morning: waffles, fruit, coffee and milk or juice.

Highly recommend if you’re planning to visit Mt. Adams or the surrounding areas. Stayed there on 9÷15÷04, room was clean, comfortable, spacious, and reasonably priced. DirecTV, free WiFi, small refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, wood-burning fireplace, table with two chairs. The furniture was made of wood giving the room an approproately rustic feel. Shower amenities included a loofah and a rubber ducky, the latter I thought was a particularly cute touch(I didn’t use it though, :)). Staff was very friendly and they serve a free continental breakfast every morning which includes sweet potato waffles, which were tasty. An excellent stay overall.

This place is great! It has the whole rustic, old western thing going on, but the building is only 10 years old, and that makes a difference. The staff was friendly and helpful and the rooms are ultra clean. They have a hot tub that was actually open when we stayed. The continental breakfast is second to none. Yes it would be nice to have breakfast open at say 4:30AM for climbers(Breakfast starts at 6:30). But then again, donuts and waffles with all the fixings is exactly what your body does NOT need for climbing.

This is a great place! I stay here when climbing Mt Adams, it’s the only place anywhere close to the mountain. Beautiful location, the staff is very friendly and the rooms are clean & comfy. Highly recommend!

Husband and I were in Seattle for a conference, and decided to stay in the area about 1 extra week to make it a «Pacific Northwest Adventure.» First on the list: Climb Mt. Adams. When researching logistics, we learned that in order to make Mt. Adams a day climb, we needed to make an alpine start(At the trail head by 2 am!). Of course, in order to get as much sleep as possible, we searched for the closest place to sleep nearest to the trail head – without breaking the bank. So, we called the Trout Lake Motel to book a room and ask if they could accommodate our plans. Apparently, this is a common plan and a common place for people to stay when taking Adams on as a day climb. Check in was easy, we paid ahead and they gave us instructions on where to leave the key when we left since nobody would be at the lobby at 1 in the morning. If you aren’t engaging in a crazy alpine start thing, you actually get a full breakfast in the lobby! Unfortunately, for people leaving early, there is no breakfast… which is fine, but if this is a place that«commonly» caters to climbers, it would be nice if the place could pack a non-perishable bag breakfast or something to make up for this. I don’t know. The room was large, comfortable, and homey! They even had a teddy bear on the bed along with a welcome card and mints from the owners! So cute!!! There was a fridge and microwave in the room, which make it easy to bring food and prepare it for an early evening in. There was even a dining table and sofa in the room so plenty of space to spread out and relax! The place was also pretty quiet, so it was easy to sleep early for an early start. It was probably a 40 minute ride to the trail head, and the lady at the lobby did a good job of giving us directions to the ranger station and the trail head from the motel. Bottom line: I would come back. Don’t hesitate to stay here. It is remote, but a comfortable place to get some fresh air!
